Jermaine Dupri's 1st MPC X Tutorial Was.....

- Опубліковано 25 чер 2024
- Super Producer Jermaine Dupri dropped his first tutorial on how to record hardware synths into the MPC X. So, I wanted to weigh in on the matter at hand. He did a great job considering he's not a tutorial guy and used his platform properly. I'm adding a bit of knowledge on the matter to emphasize some of the hang ups.

Audio track tutorials are kinda meh from what I’ve seen.
"More content for dat ass" lol
But seriously, I agree that UA-camrs are today's celebrities to a great extent. I love when I see y'all get together, too.
He seemed like a very genuine person to me.
@Ave Mcree 😂 whatchu me welcome to UA-cam bro?
Jermaine has had a channel vlogging on here for years?
Bro made a tutorial video for THE Jermaine Dupri. That’s crazy and you’re right man UA-camrs are the new celebrities
Thank you Ave and waiting for the X masterclass! Nice shirt by the way.
Thank you for showing this!
Great job! Keep up the great work!
This really helped me out. I haven’t had my MPC very long and I knew I could do this but seeing you use the looper was what I needed. Thanks!
A few things. First, you can definitely warp audio in Audio tracks. Second, you can also record both audio and Midi at the same time to audio tracks if someone prefers that workflow. Just select the Audio and Midi track in the Track View by holding shift and arm the tracks. Lastly, anything recorded in Audio tracks can be brought into the sampler if you want later, they show up as samples in the list of audio files. So if you want to chop, etc you can and still have the Audio track playing. I use that to warp some vocals on top of an already playing vocal track for harmonies.

Dude, great video!!! I first learned of you since the Benn Jordan MPC gate thing. Since then I’ve enjoyed a number of your vids but so far definitely got the most value out of this one.
From our time using the mp, or even the sp, we were all wired up. 8 input/output cables, patch bays. We had no visual references/gui, so I feel where Jermaine was coming from, and you nailed it Ave on your explanation brother ✊🏾
Cool idea. Using the looper and setting things to pads is dope.
🔥🔥🔥by far best way I have seen using looper inside MPC.
you always breakdown great
JD is going to have to buy your course 😂
I'm dead
Ave.... you're the man!. Feel you, dude..
This is gold
J Dupri is good for being honest about what he know and don't... I have connected my Synths to my X when I first got it years ago. I hope he hollas at you Ave...
Fabulous VIDEO 🫵🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Excellent
I’m waiting for my MPC x se. Cannot wait
Good stuff sir🔊👍🏾
I like that you show hardware stuff O.G.!!! I am still using FL but I like seeing alternative creative methods.
Dope!
Thank you for this Video
Another good and interesting video.
whudd up brother
I look forward to your Masterclass.
My pleasure
@@AveMcree I know your a busy guy but I have a question regarding u-he tyrelllN6. How can I reach you?
Jus started watchin…2 mins in…ima say it took me 3 yrs ago to appreciate dupri mpc skills….neva realised how dope he was bangin dem pads…and brian michael cox to…
Lol ave you always make me laugh 😂 and the fact you had a video explaining what he was looking for makes it even more funnier
waiting on the mpc x master class going to cop it
😊✌🏾 bien dicho
Yeah this is why vsts were made this is a old slow process lol ! you dont have to worry about changing or losing sounds on that track or exporting. Great video though! do you know how to track from the mpc into the apollo X? would you use a midi usb and the 3/4 outs? im trying to use unison and track out into a uad pre.
Thoroughly impressed by your knowledge of Akai products in particular. I have a question for you. If you could only choose 1 to cover all your music needs would it be, the Force, the Mpc key 61 or the MPC X (se)???????????
Great vid. Got that Dilla Time book in the back. I need to order that.
Good tutorial Ave
I love this guy
I needed to see this, because I want to use my Mpc one stand alone, but record in the instruments from my vsts
You can, just use the inputs on the back of the mpc to feed the left right audio in from your vsts to there
@@boratezel Bet, appreciate it
Great video! What video editor did u use to do this?
the faces are killing me lol good video
I hope he watches cuz you just helped me out 1000%
Andy, you are fire😂😂
You "Da Truth" homie good brain food💯
I don't read manuals, I know. but...thanks for this video...this help a whole helluva lot..that manual...I gotta read it.
Dope Vid…
Didn’t understand the looper until literally rn. Thank you fam🫡
Ave! I got your course and I can’t wait to tear through it. How can I tag you from my music accounts?
No doubt! Ty so much. Can't wait for the feedback
This video is Dope!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Ave Whts good bro. U kno I’m wating on my phantom 06 now and I’m looking at your video and see u said u sent your phantom back. So my question is will I have problems with the phantom trying to use it with my XSE or wht?
I have the roland bk5 and want to record the sounds on it to my mpc. What cables do i need exactly? That not quite clear to me😂
Good video, but JD missed the fact that every “recording” and/or audio track is saved in your sample pool. So the audio track is able to be edited, chopped, flipped how you want. You just have to go to sample edit and scroll around. It’s in there. You can save to a drm program and warp, pitch, mute from there.
It's his first tutorial
Ave this off topic but where you get that shirt from
straightforward forsake, but I can't connect my tr 08 to the live 2. any help!?
Good looking out for JD and the community. I you use audio tracks to, but issue was figuring out you had to use the record button not over dub. 😂
lol no doubt
I have all of my keyboards hooked into my mixer which then goes into my MPC
When you first start on the new MPCs, it is confusing. Thanks for helping out JD. Now he can see how Traptendo gets down,
but if he don't, there's a new sheriff in town... Feel me now? 😅🤣😂
I was using a phone and UA-cam and sampling then chopping using an iPhone plug to 3/4 inch cable . It worked wonderfully the first couple times then it started sounding echo-ey on the vocals of every sample that I try now ??? Help ???
As a Maschine user (maybe MPC one day 👀) I'm only here for the comments! 😤🤣🤣🤣
Come on and get a MPC. The MPC One should be a good look
I used the maschine for years then got an mpc. Never touched my maschine again.
Actually I used it from time to time to make samples. Export the stems and chop them in the mpc lol.
@@JulianX3__ hello can u give detail ? about the difference ? im on maschine, but disapoint about arranger etc
JD coming into this world of content creation
is a very good thing
@@AveMcree yessir
Appreciate you bro
no problem
is there a way to have timing corect on that audio? i dont have great time to my playing
Record the MIDI first then record the audio track
the MFinnnn OG
Hahhahahahshs 😂😂😂 0:33 he’s back!!!!
I love you dawg! lol
The Juno X crashed my Force and the audio interface settings were jacked until the next Force update was released. I never tried again after that…it may work, now but I connect with my BabyFacePro.
🫨🫨🫨 this whole time I’ve been recording to the sampler, click edit then tempo chopping it to a program. This method is faster but similar results. I hope JD watched this video and reach out to you for more tips my guy
I use to do the same
1ST OFF JD been using MPC"S for years, it kinda seem like a i know more than him post and a slick bash to me
this actually helped me out as well. I've been trying to record in to make my own instruments in keygroups.
Use auto sampler
There's autosampler for that

Honestly i only use hardware and it was obvious for me how recording audiotracks worked off the jump
I died on "separately" haha😂 Jeremaine gon figure it lol. I personally assumed JD already know it or MORE bcus he produced so many songs... Maybe he just pointed his finger. Idk. Amazing lol
Best video intro of 2023 😂
😂
lol at least it hooks people in
JD : I'm going to talk to Andy about this issue
Ave : Uh Oh

you know the vibes lol
Found that out in my 20s
The looper has an added latency when recording that the audio track doesn’t have for me. It’s like 5-10 ms ish. if it didn’t I would use it more.. Also with Audio track you can warp but warp sucks anyways in standalone mode. I Still prefer recording to audio track to get perfect loops then simply use the audio track 00x file in a program. Also you can punch in with audio tracks.
I dont use the X but the explanation was spot on.
Finally, somebody who understands MIDI and making those connections work. I have a question for you. I have a 24 channel USB powered fader mixing interface, and I want to permanently set it up to control the volume of tracks via USB/MIDI In sequences. So that I don’t have to go to each track and adjust the volumes, I can just do it with my mixer. Is there an easier way other than essentially telling the MPC unit what you want each fader and button to do?
I feel the manual doesn’t truly cover enough about MIDI, in order to facilitate mixers and import those settings into every project you want to do. I know that I can have the MPC unit load up any templates that I save out. Which I use to save my favorite instruments on Tracks in order to be able to get into and start a new project/sequence instantly after turning the unit on. But I also want to have it load up the Mixer interface when it does so. so that I have instant control over volumes of each track on that mixer board. Along with fader and EQ’s.
Any help would be awesome. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
you can wrap the audio track as well
Fantom is a beast!!. Im a Push 2 and Push 3 user but will look hard at the MPC X. JD is the guy. Love seeing this.
I'll take the old Fantom series. The new one gave me a headache
😁excellent 😁
Ave, where is that mpc x training ain’t? I need that top to bottom joint. I’m buying it! Make affordable though for quick strike
The private lessons link is in the description and the MPC X masterclass is coming soon
Now I want an MPC again... lol... a former Eastpoint Resident... Club Candlewood!! lol
DoreMidi Host solved the usb to midi issue on the 2KXL I was having with sequencing my Korg Mikrokey47 usb midi controller and other usb midi gear.
Returned the Fantom? (Damn).
I didn't want to return it but couldn't justify having it no more. Wish I knew about DoreMIDI
Hmmm .... "The Hobbyist is smarter than " The Professional " 😂
Btw it's the Roland D-50 from the 80's
so basically even a musical legend need help sometimes. I agree
No one knows ot all. I mean Im close but even I don't know all
🤣wasn’t expecting that
LEYKIS 101 !!!
Thats crazy he didnt know that.... You can also ARM multiple tracks in track mode by holding down the shift button
yeah..........😆😞tbh most people don't much about what they own until someone breaks it down.
@@AveMcree or actually knowing how to ask the right questions to find the right answers
The mpc workflow seems convoluted.
Wait, so Ave you look like CyHi AND you from Atlanta?
Ok, I been just using audio tracks. I can do more audio tracks 👍🏾
Shhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiii 😂❤😂❤😂❤😂
Oh, always be humble.
As an MPC2000XL and 2500 user, these new joints just look super overly complicated for what an MPC was. I feel like the MPC5000 and the MV-8800 were the peak of these types of machines. But the integration with computers has brought us here, so here we are.
They work the same. Seqeuences Programs and tracks.

Actually the USB works well with the MV 1
Looper 🫡 🙏🏿
Your right there definitely a divide or lack of a knowledgement between celebrities towards you tubers
Idk man, something to be said for the ease of just being able to make an audio track and play your phantom on it, and then transfer it to pro tools or whatever. All that other jazz is nove if you are building your entire project in the MPC ,but if you just want to record some audio it's not necessary
I mean… I record the stuff via audio without the MIDI but it’s good to know both are possible.
@@AveMcree for sure...
May Yahweh bless you brother
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
i feel him on this why this isn't under loop or sample is crazy and you have to resample a sample it records already for audio track waves to show up add arranger view smh its like why akai ? the software is so clunky for simple things sometimes and i always use machines like he does never a manual if you have to use a manual besides for like midi cc routing they didn't make it intuitive enough you shouldn't master it out the box but make exploring fun at least . And don't get me started on the backwards step sequencer
That's also false. You can record both the audio and the MIDI at the same time but the real question is... Why would you do that in the first place? Especially, if you mess up playing the notes in real time. Hence why it would be SMART to record the MIDI first.
@@AveMcree I guess for me it was confusing at first cause you had to turn audio on 🔊 witch isn’t by default for some reason, and it felt out of place. being a separate audio space I guess intended for lyrics but it was how I was sampling if I messed up audio I’d just delete re-record and sense you didn’t see the recording wave right away it confused me it was midi. cause it’s under audio if that makes sense I did get it to work and after that was fine but initial setup left me scratching my head cause I wanted to chop the audio but then had to record it make it a sample send it over to programs then I could chop etc
For context at the time I was running power from usb to the dreadbox typhon and running audio out the typhon into the mpc not though midi so I was just trying to capture the audio and mix it with the mpc drums maybe I should have done it with midi just how I had my setup so sample was already ready I was just trying to capture it can’t render if it carried midi though usb I think 🤔 it could but I wasn’t using the 5 pin
