Tried for the first time. Followed the instructions and was able to replace the battery without breaking the display.
Came here for that adhesive strips lol
8 cables. 16 screws. 2 torx screws. A load of adhesive. Wow isn't this a party.
Remember when you could just take the back panel off and put a new battery? What was wrong with that?
Having to remove the screen was my fear in this project 😬
How'd it go?
I have had repairing experience in the past with Apple, Samsung, and some LGs. On this one, i managed to remove the screen without cracking it, but the cable ripped apart at the first movement, gddmt. Take care if you try this.
We followed the directions with a new iFixit battery. Now the phone no longer works
At the beginning of the tutorial you mentioned everything you'll need but forgot to add the adhesive tape that holds down the screen. Ya its sort of self evident that it will be needed sense your removing it but what are the sizes we need? 1mm for the sides and 3mm for the top & bottom?!?
Got it done ! Works ! Perfect. Thx !
Bought a battery, heat mat, pre-formed adhesive sheets and adhesive strip tape along with a tool kit on eBay. With the help of your video and another, I was able to successfully swap the battery and not damage the screen. Works perfectly. Have the tools now and a bit more confidence for next time. Thanks !!!!
Have you done it at all before this one?
@@russellm7530 Nope !
How’s your battery holding up today?
Why a reupload?
Probably just to tell everyone that the screen was already broken before they removed the screen
Can/Should we use isopropyl alcohol for disassembling the display?
I gave up trying to get the screen off. I could see breaking the screen would happen before I could get the pic between the screen and the body of the phone. Also just how much heat to apply? The IOpener seemed worthless. Went to a heat gun but was afraid I would over heat and end up destroying the phone. The whole experience was disappointing and the old battery is still in the phone.
Later that same morning:
Well, I got the display off without breaking it. I accomplished installing the new battery. But the phone is not coming on. 3 hours later and I have a phone that does not work. I will be damned if I will try and figure out why. Live and learn. If I were to venture a guess, maybe 50 percent who will try this replacement may succeed. Good luck.
Sorry,Thanks for the tip.
1:19 You can see that the display is cracked. It's almost impossible to remove that display without breaking it.
JerryRigEverything removed it without cracking it, it's possible, it's just that this guy doesn't care
@Sahil Meena
My dude
I said it’s ALMOST impossible
This is kinda old now but they said the display was already cracked
It's far from impossible, you just don't know what you're doing
Great. Now go make a teardown video of the WF1000xm3
I hate how they engineer pixels. This is not a good design if it's very easy to break the screen just to replace a dang battery.
Right so you have to buy new $phone like they want us to do.
99% of the people who don't have experience in mobile repair are going to break their display.
99.9 lmao. I have lots of experience and i broke mine. luckily im just trying to recycle the battery
also the screen was already cracked
the iPad heat goo pad helps wonders.
I have had experience in the past opening many phones, iPhones, Galaxies and LG. The screen cable on this one ripped apart in the first movement goddammit.
I got lucky my screen was already crack
Is there pixel 3 xl battery replacement?
Dont do this if you have a good screen, it will break, only open if screen is already damaged. Cause the odds are not good to cleanly remove and reassemble.
Best way is to go through the back instead of the front honestly
@@tyreebecker8465 how do you do that?
@@erikpoephoofd Use a heat gun to warm the outline of the phone. Use a pry tool to get a little opening and then use a playing card to open the rest of the phone.
@@tyreebecker8465 but you still have to remove the screen right? Since the back is a solid piece of plastic?
a little crack appeared down the bottom of the screen and now the whole screen is black and wont show anything.... have to buy another phone now
replaced the battery now it turns on but no screen. Yes I checked and rechecked all connections were replaced correctly. Now what?
Has to be ur connections. I just replaced mine
can you install 4000 mah battery in pixel 3 xl
So... Now that i read all the comments i dont know if i should try myself or bring it to store and pay the change :D
Has anyone replaced their battery and was it worth it? I'm tryna see if I should replace my battery for better life and performance
I just replace mine. I notice my phone isnt warm from the battery
The battery which was inside the phone reminded me of HTC batteries
It is indeed designed by the previous team of HTC so there is no wonder why it is like that.
i cracked my display despite being super careful.... welp there goes another $50. honestly Screw google for making it so fragile
Screw em all. They're almost all like this now I think.
I just replaced it. If you buy there battery kit it does not come with the battery adhesive. Also getting the battery out was a pain. Also make sure to add adhesive to the screen like all around it leaving no gaps
Adhesive glue or tape?
How’s your battery holding up
@@andrewq842 not good was not worth replacing in my experience
@@russellm7530 tape
@@Thethe49er how long did it last before you noticed any “degrading” in life
Damnit.
Please make a tear down video of ROG phone 2. You guys are the best.
Is the battery fix worth it? I am buying a used one on ebay! How do I make sure the battery is still good?
Use the Accubattery app
That screen is fragile like a potato chips. My nightmare came true with the Pixel 1! I think the 3/3 XL would be better due to the battery access from rear side. Btw I assume you may have already purchased by now but just mentioning
GO back to user replaceable batteries!. S5s and V20 LGs still work.
Lol yep V20 is the best budget phone next to the more expensive Samsung Xcover Pro. Both have removable batteries and storage.
I'm using an old moto e6 right now with removable battery trying to see if it's worth it to try and replace a couple google pixel 3a batteries.
I'm still not sure.
30 Minutes, what a lot of bullshit. Most people will damage the screen when they remove it. Once you have taken 20 minutes to do the battery replacement after the screen has been removed, you have to clean off the glue that held the screen in place and clean the glue off the screen, then reseat the screen. This is a 60 - 90 minute job at best that will probably cost you a new screen and battery
at 1:21 you can see the LCD is already cracked!
I too replaced the same today..
What'd you do with the old battery? Throw it in the trash?
Binod
Binod 🤣
Trinod.
iPhone looks easier.
iPhones are known to be the most annoying to repair. they use 3 screw types and most are apple's own type of screw
Actually it's the opposite
@@jamesfrain8318 give me the torx screws over adhesive any day
