All his contemporaries, Leclerc, Albon & Norris got into competitive cars early in their career. George had to bide his time despite coming in as a rookie F2 champion. He deserves this opportunity wholeheartedly.

f1 is the most mainstream racing series.
I think it’s good it’s getting more popular but I’ve also noticed a very big increase in the toxicity from fans online the last few years too.
@@Drenwickification Absolutely, I get having a favourite driver but its not fun to watch people devolve and insult drivers just because of incidents on track.
@@Drenwickification I think it's always been quite similar. But since F1 started focusing more on their social media you probably just see it more.
@@Drenwickification Agreed. The more mainstream idiots you get, the more toxic it gets. Football is the king of this. It's a double edged sword. Also, it might feed into the actual paddock over the next 20 years. In 20 years we might see some of the absolute pondlife that inhabit premier league football.
George is a very likeable guy. Talent has been there for all to see. Big move to partner Lewis at Mercedes. Look forward to seeing how he does. Big up to him!

He’s a talented driver. He’s getting as best results as possible with what limited car Mercedes has this year. Kinda sad that he joined merc just when their dominance ended. I reckon if he was there in previous years we would have seen him on podium a lot, he may get on there this year tho. Definitely a Ferrari vs red bull year, which is also nice as a Ferrari fan

Speculations of merc sandbagging are floating around and tbh i think they most defo will contest ferrari for the title in both championships, red bull is a good factor too especially if you assume that ferrari isn't sandbagging and redbull then with max giving charles a run for his money would indicate a 3 way constructors fight.

@@tajulislam1522 Im guessing you're not into f1 strats. Mercs objective for the season is to win the season champs right? So why would you deploy all the tricks that are up your sleeve at the start so all the teams can see? You would stay as far forward without using half your tricks so that towards the end you deploy em so teams cant copy them, cuz it takes time to copy this stuff and storm away in the latter 4/5 of the season. Now then again this is a theory, i have no proof, but it makes sense for a team as resource rich as merc and the people that led the hybrid era.
@@abhineetgupta1491 My theory with the potential sandbagging is also because of the new spending cap. Why would you show your rivals where to spend the money to get the best out of their cars when you can watch them waste it having a go, and then you stop sandbagging when you think the changes would be too big for them to afford to even try to put into place if that makes any sense?

George is so unlucky, now that he drive a Mercedes the car is trash...
Only the first race and still the 3rd best car. The Honda engines seem to be unreliable and dnfs cost a lot of points. Ferrari are usually bad at developing the car during the season. I believe Mercedes will have one or both championships at the End of the year.
@@Gejokuge no the budget cap doesn't leave mutch space to recover all that gap Ferrari has now, the Engine is far superior, watch Alfa and Haas...
@@upaz84 i don't wanna be a conspiracy theorist, but how exactly do they enforce the budget caps? Can't a big company like Mercedes do some research on the side without it being suspicious? How many billions does mercedes spend on research and development each year? You could easily hide costs from engeneering work on new f1 parts.
@@Gejokuge It is all monitored, they've been auditing the teams' spending for years now, every detail they bring to the car has to have a paper trail, showing who designed it, where they tested it, what results they got, how much computer time was spent on it.
If a team goes $1 over the budget, they get thrown out of the championship. It's not worth the risk. They would loose hundreds of millions probably.

Has surprisingly small ears for a motor racing driver, and is his hair some kind of fabric?
Looking forward to seeing him driving fast. Finger's crossed he has cleaned his chin in time for the British television showing of the Silverstone race this year, I want to say it was bad show last year but we all know that wasn't the case.
If he scores more points than anyone else this year there's a good chance he'll be world champion, so keep an eye on the points everyone else is getting, that's the key.
