Synopsis:
Inspired by the memoir, From Scratch is a cross-cultural love story that follows Amahle "Amy" Wheeler (played by Zoe Saldaña) an American student studying abroad in Italy, as she meets and falls in love with Lino, a Sicilian chef. Their whirlwind romance faces many unforeseen challenges, including their very different cultural backgrounds; true to real life, it is also infused with lightheartedness and moments of humor that exist alongside the more serious ones. But when Lino is faced with unimaginable health challenges and the couple’s future is threatened, the two families come together to create an extended family unlike any they could have imagined, proving that love crosses all borders.

Cried my eyes off. Emotional, but Beautiful and inspiring
A few facts. 1. It is based on a true story.about Tembi Locke. 2. Reese Witherspoon asked Zoe if she wanted the lead in the show, as Reese's production company produced it. 3. Reese, along with her husband, Zoe and her Italian husband were having dinner. Reese observing the love between Zoe and her real husband, decided then and there that she wanted Zoe as the lead role. I just ordered the book from Amazon and am currently reading it.

Yes!! I saw in an interview by Themba Locke that the rain scene when he waited for her, really happened! 🥺😭 Themba’s book about this story is also a New York Times bestseller. I’m about to go buy it.
Lino was a really good man. This was a great love story and excellent Netflix series but it had an ever so heartbreaking turn of events. I couldn't hold back the tears. Also, you're so right on the chemistry between them two. I had to Google to see if they were a couple for real!
An excellent actor can make the relationship look real. Of course having a connection and great chemistry helps as well. Zoe is actually married to an Italian man in real life. Maybe she was truly thinking about what if that was her husband dying. However, I totally understand because they seemed so in love. I noticed the little nuances between them. Like when they would stare at each other from a distance with such love and admiration. That is truly a soul connection, to just look into your partners eyes and feel their love piercing through your body. I have ONLY enjoyed once such love in my life. Don't know if I will ever experience that again.

Such a capturing love story because you don’t always see people take the “risk” of choosing and loving someone who is so much different From what you’ve grown up knowing. I’m glad they chose love I’m glad they risked it because it was kind of like one those things that come once in a lifetime .. It’s one of those you either risk it all or risk thinking what could have been .. I love the series ..
This dang movie ruined my evening....because my lady and I binged the whole series til 4 in the morning... We couldn't stop watching: well done with exceptional acting and authentic situations.

It's a really beautiful mini series you watch one episode and you just cannot stop watching it so many emotions happy so sad and really happy the actor who played Leno showed such emotions in his face when he found out what was wrong with him he deserves a award for that what his wife did at the end in memory of him was beautiful based on a true story 3to5tissue job well done Netflix
As a Italian this show surprisingly describe Italian culture accurately. Southern Italians face a lot of discrimination by the northern Italians
i binge watched it in 2 days and by the time i finished it i had a super bad headache because of how sad it made me

Fast progression…. I’m having a headache. Grieving my sister recently passed, and my parents 6 and 15 years ago. Death is so heavy…..the series was so nuanced….
