My story is very similar to this show but I thank God that I had the happy ending version of that story! My wife is American and I am Moroccan. We met and got married in less than 3 months and had our son in the very first year just to find out I had cancer after my son was only 4 months. Watching this show brings back a wave of memories of the struggle against cancer, adjusting to life in America, missing home, but also the crazy love adventure I was Fortunate to experience! You have one life, so don't you dare let fear dictate how to live, and spend it chasing your dreams without an ounce of regret!

Oh my gosh…this was way more then I expected…..I was thinking a nice film to watch and it was, but so much more then that! Cried, laughed and cried again! Everyone please watch……it’s not in your face but if you have a heart and have ever had issues with family, this may just open you up……❤
I held my sleeping husband so tight after watching this... I am an a South African woman married into a different culture... This series gave me reassurance that what matters my love for my husband... It also give me courage to be more patient and understanding towards his family's behavior... Thank you for sharing your life and heart, Thembi... ♥️
I love that race wasn’t the focal point in the story. It somehow always tends to be the main and only issue and point within movies. I come from a mixed cultured background, race was never my identity, culture is. I didn’t focus on race, in fact I forgot about their race and only saw everyone as normal people with similar struggles. I did focus and notices all the culture differences though. That’s how it should be more often with diverse casts.
I did not know this story was true but half way through episode 2 I paused and did research because I had a feeling this story had to be true ......A BLACK WOMAN SPEAKING ITALIAN, THIS JUST FELT RIGHT FOR SOME REASON AND ZOE WAS PERFECT AS THE LEAD KNOWING HER BACKGROUND. I am a black woman who dated an Italian in high school and my first marriage was interracial and I know about that instant click with another culture feeling so natural. I never cried so much in my life watching a movie or series unfold and after I binge watched, the next day I watched on youtube Tembi Locke do a few interviews about her book and the making of this beautiful story. I am happy that she found love again and got married in 2020 .
By the way, Zoe Saldaña Perego is also married to an Italian.
She is fluent in Italian and Spanish.

Just finished binging it for the second time and oh how I love this story. The characters in this story are perfect and there is so many rich and beautiful layers to each and everyone of them. Thank you for not ending the story with his death because I believe we all needed to see the beauty of everyone coming together, and excepting each other for who they were. It was a fabulous story. Thank you.
This series deserves lots of Emmy Nominations. Original Writing, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting role. Everything! and yes I'm watching this series for the 3rd time now. every time I watch I end up crying. my boyfriend is just like Lino. My family is also the same crazy and super supportive. my mother who lost her husband(my father) when she was just 35 y old. it's like I already know and have lived through the pain. if it wouldn't have been for my maternal family's support and love, we wouldn't have been alive
I am a black male late fifties, decided to watch this film before slumber. Believe me, I have never teared up so much watching a film that had me glued and genuinely concerned for Lino's health, touching really touching. Loved it!!!

Zoé Saldaña is wonderful in this serie she is beautiful her self and love to hear her speaking italian she also speak spanish since she has spanish roots fm Dominican Republic .

Wow! I was wondering if this was a true story! It was so wonderfully written and acted out. I cried. I laughed. I stopped breathing. I was angry. I was hopeful. I prayed. Seriously! LOL! I was in prayer for the characters, and I praised God for every victory! I feel like this story teaches how to love! I especially appreciated how the wife and husband communicated their hurt and fears and love to each other. Watching this definitely caused me to appreciate my marriage relationship more. There were so many life lessons in this movie. AND when a movie can change you in a positive way, it deserves an award! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I hope someone speaks up for Lino and the specifics of his story in all of this because he was such a phenomenal person, a courageous, revolutionary and romantic. MAN. Good looking too! What a mensch!!

Saw so much of my story, but mine starts in Greece. I cheered, laughed, been there-done that, and cried my eyes out during this movie. I am so grateful someone is telling a different story of my sisters who are brave and take a leap.

😭😭😭😭😭 I stoped at sixth episode. It became so sad and heavy. You know he will gonna die. It was so perfect marriage her dream job his restaurant. And than this. 😫 Heartbreaking. My mood just went down. And this deep sadness came for more than a minute. I don't know if I should to continue. Or not beacuse I am afraid it can get me into depressed state and anxiety state. And when I heard today that this is based on a true story it get worse

I love the movie Zoe and all the actors and Actress are magnificent. I was crying . True love is real . Starting a new life in a city with no center . I can relate to the movie . I came to America in 1994 I left my family behind . Culture shock

This series is a masterpiece! I was not able to relate in any of the characters but for some reason the story touched my heart on a different level. Each episode got better and better. I could not stop myself from crying. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time! It’s been two weeks and I still think about Lino and Amy. They portrayed their roles very well, I didnt feel they were acting. Well done to the whole team of From Scratch 👏🏻

What is the news here.! I grow up in Italy and we where lots of mixed races and black people in the eighties early ninety but all that changed,.with different kinds of migration. I moved out in time. Italy is not the same.

The snippet of the story was so bland I didn’t get past to an episode.
So woke crap
I couldn't even get through episode 1. I'd give it a 3 or 4 out of 10 based on what I saw.
The first three, four episodes were bland and sometimes painful to watch. Predictable mostly. I’m glad I stuck with it. It gets a bit more interesting after episode 5. And lots of tears on 7 and 8.

I have watched the woman whose story this is do a lot of interviews as far back as 2015 on youtube. Her name is Tembi Locke and the reason for all the name changes in this series was done for a BEAUTIFUL reason
