Big Bad Company fan from day one....Paul Rodgers voice is a one of a kind, perfectly tuned instrument....Shooting Star, for me, is one of those songs that never get old....I was a teen when it came out and I love it just as much now as I did then....All Right Now by Free (Paul Rodgers) is another rock and roll masterpiece that will never grow stale in my ears.
Thank you very much for this....I’m a lifelong “beginnermediate” guitar player and your video was perfect for me to be able to learn this song quickly and easily....still working on the intro but having all kinds of fun.

The bass line in this song (esp. on the chorus) has always been one of my faves. Beautiful work by Boz Burrell(?).

When the song fades at the end and there is nothing left but your guitar, it sounds so perfect and meshes exactly with the song. It's so cool sounding. Thanks for showing how to play this one, it's a great song and you play it so well.

Exactly right! On the studio cut, second verse, when the lyrics are "gonna be a big star some day', and you are playing the A, in the studio cut he plays fast descending double stops on the 9th, 7th, and 5th frets (the high E string) , he strums, muting the B string, so on the G string he's on the 9th, 7th and 6th frets when he takes it down...I like your strumming, you get those fast mutes on the E maj before you go to G, muting with your right hand whilst you keep strumming...that's what i learned from you and it sounds great. I'd bet you heard those double stops but did not include them to keep the tutorial straight forward. Oh, also, off the subject but another 'simple' acoustic intro I like a lot, is the studio Led Zep, 'Ramble On', which goes back and forth with E and A chords, Page does his E using a barre on the 7th/9th frets and does 2 different suspensions on the E maj before going to A where he goes back and forth suspending the A the same way you suspend the A with 'Shooting Star" except he plays his A maj on the 5th fret (A sus 4). I know that's right cause I saw him live demo it on his Les Paul from what I guess is his castle...or whatever grand place he's in....'excuse the digression but my head operates that way...I looked at 3 UA-cam demos of Shooting Star and they all get the chords right but you nail the spirit of it...and it makes all the difference...and that's when you know your in 'good hands' ...when you see the superficially easy chords need some subtleties to sound really right.... With any instrument at any level, it's the details that transform it from just OK to terrific... and i think I have 'earned' the song, enough to improvise, only after i can mime the original as perfectly as I can....So, Thanks! for your attention to details for a really proper tutorial......Geez, I'm like 'Chatty Kathy" tonight and not even drunk...is that some sort of Gibson? Your getting a real bright sound.....Recently i picked up a Gibson 1963 J50 at a steal...and it's ridiculous really, blindfold tested between a nice new guitar and a good old one...it gets subjective fast what sounds better.....I'm fairly ancient and it makes me a little ill when i think about the 60's Martins i bought new in the 60's....not only about how inflation has perverted prices, but how good they'd sound now, if I'd had the foresight to keep 'em.........I paid $220 USD for my first HD-28 and $600 for a new D-41...Brazilian rosewood etc......Now $600 buys a "Martin" D Junior which has a plastic fretboard and bridge and made out of 'mystery wood'.....Floor scraps from some out of country floor, emulsified with synthetic resins...with action so high it's really only appropriate for slide work....Gibson, Martin, Collins, Taylor, Larrivee, Seagulls, replications.........apples, oranges, mangoes etc......totally derailed chat now....Peace!......D

They really liked those "higher fret" D formations for intros. It's like the continuation of "Feel Like Making Love". Thanks for the awesome tunes!

Someone should put together a bracket chart. I'm seeing Paul Rogers vs. Steve Marriott on one side, maybe Daltrey vs. Mercury on the other, until we finally get down to, who, Jagger & Plant? Joplin?

So amazing! So many questions...... do you play by ear? How did you discover your unusual talent? How many videos have you made? When you decide on a song for a vid, how long does it take to make one? Is your ability to read music (or hear a song) something you discovered one day? Thanks so much for sharing with the world. I could listen to your videos for hours on end.

On an isolated acoustic guitar track of the original recording of this song, it sounds like he goes to D rather than to G. Actually, a D hammering to a D6, most likely at the 5th fret. The first two times it's a regular hammer on, the next two he does a little strum with it. The rhythm picks up momentum as it goes along. The E sounds like it's at the 7th fret. The A sounds like he's at the 2nd fret hammering on and off with the B string 3rd fret and D string 4th fret, a technique I believe he uses on a few other songs.
