Bad Company - Shooting Star - Live at Wembley

- Опубліковано 29 бер 2021
- Written by Paul Rodgers "Shooting Star" appears as track number 6 on the Straight Shooter album by Bad Company. Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke stated on In the Studio (which devoted an episode to Straight Shooter) that the track "Shooting Star" (written by lead singer, Paul Rodgers) was lyrically inspired by the drug and alcohol-related deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.
Straight Shooter is the second studio album by the English supergroup Bad Company. The album was released on April 2, 1975, a month after the release of the single "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" and four months before the album's second single "Feel Like Makin' Love" (see 1975 in music).
The album reached number 3 in the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. It was certified gold (500,000 units sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America a month after its release. The album was remastered and re-released in 1994.

Lyrics:
Well Johnny was a schoolboy
When he heard his first Beatles song
'Love Me Do' I think it was
From then it didn't take him long
Got himself a guitar
Used to play every night
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit
And everything's alright
Don't you know? Don't you know?
Johnny told his Mama
"Hey, Mama, I'm goin' away
I'm gonna hit the big time
Gonna be a big star someday"
Mama came to the door
With a teardrop in her eye
Johnny said, "Don't cry Mama
Smile and wave goodbye"
Don't you know?
Everybody, wave!
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Goodbye baby, yeah
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
And all the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
Well, Johnny made a record
Went straight up to number one
Suddenly everyone loved
To hear him sing the song
Watchin' the world go by
Surprisin' it goes so fast
Johnny looked around him and said, "Hey
I made the big-time, I made the big-time at last, yeah!"
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Shining on forever, somewhere with me
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
All the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
Hey
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Shining on
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
All the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
Now easy now
Well, well, well, well
Well, well
Well my friends, my story is near the end and I
I'm gonna sing the song
But I want you to sing along
I'm gonna sing the song
But I want you to sing along
Are you ready now?
Are you ready now?
That's good
Well Johnny died one night, died in his bed
A bottle of whiskey, sleeping tablets by his head
Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summer day
If you listen to the wind you can still hear him play
Don't you know? Don't you know? (Come on Wembley)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Don't you know? (I know)
Don't you know? (I know)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star? (Oh yeah, yeah)
Don't you know? (You got it)
Don't you know? (Let's do it again, come on)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star? (Oh yeah)
Don't you know? (Feels good)
Don't you know? (Big one)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Don't you know? (Oh, yeah)
Play that with your heart and soul
Can't hear it, boy
Have mercy, baby
Mercy on me, babe
I like it
Can we hear it one more time?
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Baby, baby, baby...
I just want to sing it one more time now
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Gotta shine on now, forever now
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
All the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
A shooting star
Oh yeah
Anyone wanna sing this song with me in 2024 ???
Let's do this!!
🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
I do!
When I hear this song I think of my brother, Johnny Ray, he died at the age of 22. Miss you brother

Paul Rodgers is by far one of the greatest voices in rock and roll history. Love him ❤️
Listen to him in the band "Free" 1972 "Free At Last" ❤❤
Yep. Right behind Freddie.

Freddie was Paul's biggest fan@@zombywoof7309
Alcohol, drugs, planes, helicopters..have taken so, so many excellent artists in many music genre, truly sad. An anthem to every one of them
Yes he is. I been round this circle for a conclusion for about 4 years now. It came down to Robert plant, Burton Cummings, Joe cocker, n him. He's got it, hands down. 60 years, hasn't changed a tune or missed a note. He is the greatest.
Johnny's Life passed him by like a warm Summer day...I can feel this line. Brilliant.
the song is about jimi hendrix
Boy those musicians are lucky to have this singer
We all need a bit of "Bad Company" in our lives...
I know that's right ❤😢

@@josephdougherty3653 me too. I was 16 in 75, us girls and guys would get six packs and go to the cemetery, hanging out listening to music. Bad Company always reminds me of that. 👏
He sounds exactly the same as always . .so awesome
This Band is incredibly good. Paul Rodgers is maybe between the five best singer of the rock era.
Love how he had the projections of all the legends that died so young as the backdrop to the stage..❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Yes!!!! Super cool
In 1974, after graduating high school, my friend left Oklahoma for a California road trip. When he returned, he brought Bad Co (first album) and told us 'this is what they're listening to in California'. Been a huge fan ever since. I have all their original vinyls.
Amazing Paul Rodgers best vocals in rock hands down
Freddie

Belongs in the "Kick Ass Hall O' Fame" right there! That's a full plate of Awesome ever been served up. Pleasure to throw an ear over that...
This was my best friend's favorite Bad Company song from when we were in our mid-teens. Linda died in a house fire in 2011. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. 💔

@@Emilkado14 Thank you. 🙏
Paul Rogers Great voice. Ralphers on guitar and Simon steady as a rock on the drums
Just wonderful
Paul Rodgers created two of my favorite ROCK bands, Free and Bad Company. Free's "Alright Now" was the first real rock song I was introduced to by my Uncle.. he always introduced me to great music that was never playing in my house LOL... Free was the moment I fell in love with Rock, Bad Company got me through my twenties.
Paul is the only person I've seen in concert 3 times with 3 different bands
The best version.
This is the first time I've heard this song and what a good one it is, so well performed. Paul is marvellous, as only is to be expected!
Legendary 🏆
Absolutely epic love Paul Rodgers and Bad company awesome 👍
Paul Rodgers voice and intuitive fills are just perfect. He still has that rockstar voice and presence. He was always the man - Free, Bad Company and all the others
Great song 👏👏👏👏🔝💯
always loved how these guys could get so much out of a minimalist sound, they weren't up there to noodle and do tricks, just great song writing and killer vocals, and don't let the minimalist sound fool you as a player, they are one of the hardest bands to cover.
The 2nd guitar with a guy like Howard Leese makes all the difference in the world.
That man can hit a tune. The Greatest band in the history of music Bad Company
From the early days of Free through to Bad Company, Paul's voice i still so amazing. Fell in love many years ago
Just before "All Right Now" was released, Free were playing in Retford at a Ladies College. My friend and I went for a pint while the support group were on, We came back and four lads were playing football with a tennis ball in the tennis court. We joined in and after about ten minutes, they said "We've gotta go now, we're on". We got a mention from them, great days and gigs were fun and cheap!
it is amazing. I love him in The Firm with Paige too🤘
Beautiful voice and so fine
"Memento Mori" Latin phrase says, Life is Short. Enjoy each moment, the journey is more important than the destination. Great band, kick ass voice.
"Remember all life ends".
Paul Rodgers definitely is the best singer of all times

Paul Rodgers and Brad Delp of Boston both two of the best!
I remember exactly where I was and who I was with when I first heard this through an open window i remember knocking on the door and asking "whats That playing?" and I even remember the name of the guy that told me . 46 years ago.
@Tom Wright Well, 46 years? That reminds me. 46 years ago (=1975), I had the great pleasure of seeing them live, and "I even remember" where that was.😉 I had known Paul Rogers ever since their precursor's (i.e Free) Fire and Water and Alright, now. So, it was mandatory to honour them with my visit😉, and I was in good company. A very good one, indeed. BTW It all happened in the same concert hall where I had seen the late Rory Gallagher a couple of years earlier.
Один из наиболее любимых вокалистов мира со своей группой. Одна из самых любимых песен. Чудесная, простая, великолепная!!! Браво, Нехорошая Компания!!!!!

For those of you who may not have recognized him, the big photo displayed on screen behind the band was of Led Zeppelin's legendary drummer, John Bonham.
He was indeed a shooting star taken way too soon.
