Before there was Van Halen there was Montrose. R.I.P. Ronnie Montrose.
R.I.P. to Eddie as well.
This whole album is gold. Give "Good Rocking Tonight" a listen.
That's a great song! But as you said the whole album rocks!
Just loved their first 2 albums with Sammy on vocals. Paper Money , Rock Candy , Rock the Nation, I got the Fire , Spaceage Sacrifice.
One of the best hard rock albums of all time. It’s just a shame they were not able to build on this.
But there are a lot of great songs on Paper Money and Warner Bros. Presents, Jump On It is ok
I Agree, Ronnie Montrose had a great 2nd album but agree, his solo stuff was hit and miss until he formed Gamma with Davey Pattinson on vocals. That band was great!
A Blueprint on how to make a GREAT "Freshman" Album!!
@@kennethjacobs2963 ''Twenty Flight Rock''! Would Have Loved to hear Sammy Sing it! lol.
This album is a masterpiece
And I just quit my job making toothpicks out of logs!
Definitely I’m still listening to it 2024 from when I first heard it in the seventies
A masterpiece from 1973. The entire album is killer from start to finish .🤟🤟👍👍🤪
A Blueprint on how to make a GREAT "Freshman" Album!!
@@12symon right on the money!
Sammy Hager was good in every band he's been in and solo
Walked into a record store and the guy working had Rock The Nation cranked up. I forgot all about the album i was going to get. Went to the counter and asked what band that was. He said Montrose and walked me over to the album i bought it and was ready to get home and put it on my turntable. Great album.
Similar thing happened to me here in the uk
I got a stripper to give me a table dance to this song in Lubbock, TX back in the early 90s. Good times.
Sammy Hagar Sammy Hagar Sammy Hagar!!!
The best song on a great album! This song ROCKS!
Entire album is great!!
A Blueprint on how to make a GREAT "Freshman" Album!!
Saw Montrose, Rick Derringer and Ted Nugent together. Fricking awesome probably the best rock guitarists on one date I have ever seen.
Those guys were on so many multi-band bills in the old days that I saw it freaks me out thinking how younger people would give anything to see the acts we saw on a regular basis.
Awesome. I would have loved to see that lineup.
The best lineup I ever saw was Motorhead, Dio, and Iron Maiden in 2003.
@@MorlokKurak Early 80s I saw Judas Priest, the Scorpions and Iron Maiden opening, another killer bill.
@@vicprovost2561 Wow. Talk about a High Energy Show! 🤘😀🤘
That's impressive. I can't top that though I did see Sabbath supported by Van Halen who played pretty much the whole VH debut album.
Also saw Purple and Nazareth in the 70's separately, though at one time Naz supported Purple - that's a combination I would have liked to have seen - and of course Roger Glover produced 3 Nazareth albums Razamanaz, Loud 'n' Proud, Rampant. It was just after that they did the Hair Of The Dog album produced by Manny Charlton, but them 3 albums produced by Roger Glover are worth checking out, e.g. tracks such as Alcatraz, Sold My Soul, Too Bad Too Sad, Go Down Fighting, Not Fakin It, Shapes Of Things (incl Space Safari - Roger Glover played mini-moog or something like that).
I was introduced to hard rock/ metal with this album. Ronnie Montrose is a great guitarist and Sammy Hagar on vocals? Badass. I was 14 years old
Another great song I remember when this 1st came out me and all my friends loved it and we all went out and bought the album, Sammy Haggar killed the vocals!!!!!! The red rocker!
A great album from the high school years man!🤪👍👍🤟🤟
Awesome! One of my favorites from Montrose, but there are so many excellent songs from Montrose. All of them are good.
Underrated
I'm from Deep Purple girl but Montrose kicked it. Montrose fir me
Finally, someone reacted to this song, in my opinion the greatest rock song ever.
Featuring a young 25-26 yr old Sammy Hagar on vocals.
This is one of my all timers. Love me some deep purple tho. Great match up too. You guys are awesome for just bringing these great tracks to your audience. Heck, I don't care who wins, we listeners win just bc we got to listen to two great songs!
Montrose is bad***!! Have always liked them!! Blasted this in my dorm room on Okinawa!! 😅
GREAT GUITAR PLAYER AND DRUMMER..ONE UNDER-RATED GROUP
I wore this album out when it came out, Rock Candy is still my favorite from this album , but not a bad song on it.
Right on brother! Mine is make it last. There's not a loser on that album. On my fourth copy lol .
Such a classic album!
SAMMY!
Saw them all together back in the 70s in Portland Oregon at the paramount theater great show
Saw this concert.
Ronnie was incredible. RIP
Sammy on lead vocals long before VH and The Circle.
First Montrose is the best rock debut album of all time.No filler on it...This band could have been the USA's answer to Led Zeppelin. If only they could've held it together who knows how far they could've or would've gone. Sammy Hagar has a voice made for rock... Just discovered you guys. Great show...Keep it up
Big time classic. Ted Templeman produced
YOU HAVE TO HEAR "ROCK CANDY" AND "BAD MOTOR SCOOTER". SAMMY HAGAR ("THE RED ROCKER") ON VOCALS!!!! A GREAT 1ST ALBUM. A BLUEPRINT FOR MAKING A PEFECT "FRESHMAN" ALBUM!!
Sammy Hagar is the lead singer and guitarist on this album.
That song is what Rock-n-Roll is all about!
Growing up this was a great party jam album !!
CLASSIC ROCK BABY! ✌☮
Yeah boy sing it sammy
Great band.
my god that is a good song
Sammy is a BOSS 🤘🔥🤘
It rocks, doesn't it? Good music is appreciated by anyone who likes good music, regardless of genre. Welcome to my circle my friends. Music; the universal language.
Good stuff! Derringer Sweet Evil? The best album you've never heard.
Montrose
Great song, and "Perfect Strangers" is a bit better to me. Bottom line, both songs awesome.
Hell yes!!!!!
Space Station #5 gives me goosebumps. I crank it, and I can’t drive 225

Hard rock fans had this EPIC album.. every track cool!!.. This is the top track!!.. Hey Motley Crue "Montrose" did it first (Bad Motor Scooter). Cheers.. Close call but Perfect Strangers tops!!
"Rock Candy"...she's hard, sweet and sticky...lol
Give Swept Away from Sammy off of VOA a listen. Great underrated song.
This was a 4 8-Track album. You could tell how much you liked an album by how many 8 track tapes ate sh!t in your car player. It you kept replacing them, it was a good album.
Both of these songs are killer. Rock Candy off this album is cool. Early Sammy Hagar
The first greatest American classic rock album rock the nation mothers
I had this Album I bout it at a flea market in Newcastle upon Tyne when I was 14 either that or I stole it from a friends big brother 🤣🤣one of my favourites back in the day think I headbanged to this track until my neck snapped 🤣🤣
That was sammy haggar's first band Damn they all look so Young back then so was I was a teen when all the songs you're playing were popular
It’s not a good idea to listen to this song if you’re f driving in heavy traffic unless you’re making your getaway.
I saw them play live at Winterland Arena in 74 along with Link Ray so good (yes I'm old)
You are the truest rockers on YT. Try Ronnie Montrose out on Gamma 2 and the track Cat on a Leash, buried gem even among hardcore rockers listeners
After Van Halen, thank God, it was still Montrose
Saw them at Winterland Arena in the early 70s sooo good. \m/
Love Deep Purple but this is Kick A$$!!
A "Must Hear On Headphones" song!
Make it last really hits home now that I'm 64
So cool to people digging montrose still
Sammy Haagar is the lead singer..
Try a little" rock candy" baby !
Love it guys ❤ thank you ❤
Tasha cheating! Lol!
16..in the basement..fresh water in the bong..Montrose on the turn table..good times
Huh I may be living in a parallel universe
Hi guy's, if you like this kind of driving rock try out Backman Turner Overdrive.
Damn straight man!🤟🤟👍👍
Ram Jam - Black Betty
Iron Maidens cover of this song, made me discover this awesome band.
I think Montrose is the only band Maiden ever covered more than once (not to mention 2 covers of one of those songs).
17 yo Sammy Hagar
Do ROCK CANDY!
I was 10 years old when this album came out. The high school neighbors would put the speakers to the window, and we'd all hang out around their porch, rockin' out. This song imprinted on my brain as what rock and roll should sound like. Shame is this song losing.
It's a tie!
✌🎸🤘👍👍❤❤❤😊
Beat the liviing s*** out of Perfect Strangers.
10/10 vs. 9/10
Definitely man!🤟🤟
Rock Candy!!!!!
T did a reaction to Rick Candy a few years ago
Have to love it when you get to the other cuts on this album!
Never heard this ir them...love it!!
The Simply Great Sammy Hagar on vocals! sick!!
