My problem was NOT the battery it was the charger www.foxoffer.com/ sent out 2 new ones free of charge, so kudos to them. Highly recommended supplier.
UPDATE: www.foxoffer.com/ have contacted me and have assured me that it is actually the power lead that is at fault. They are sending me a new one out for free so I will keep you guys informed.

Apologies for the camera focusing problems, also it's a long video but I wish it was available before I bought my console as instead of looking around the Internet for 10hours before deciding to purchase this I've kinda covered everything you need to know within 40mins.

UPDATE:
FBA emulator fixed. Basically I reinstalled it and just played the games I downloaded using the GameX app that comes with the S7800.
Internet is seemingly fixed by going into settings/wireless & network/more.../Ethernet/ and unchecking the "use ethernet" checkbox.

I just received my JXD S7800, I haven't had any problems with it so far, for the amount of games i can play on it emulators or android, its a great device to have :)

Yea i get a good wifi signal, its pretty quick. the only complaint i have with the device is i tried to hook it up via usb 3.0 i just couldn't access the device via pc. it doesn't use 3.0 it uses 2.0 :) but now i cant transfer files from pc to the device for some reason. windows just will not allow it..

All the emulators have a browse button, so you can put the roms where you like pretty much. The arcade emulator is an exeption, the best way to play arcade games is to use GamesX to download the arcade games you want and play them with FBA, the arcade emulator that comes with the system. This can take upto a 32gb micro SD card. I put all my PSP and PS1 games on the card(because the files are too big to leave all on system). They are is ISO format. There is a file management app you can use to transfer from microsd to system, again the PSP emulator can browse for games, but I don't think it can browse to the microsd card, i could be wrong. Don't forget that the archos gamepad 2 is coming out as well. The EVGA tegra note is out too. so theres a couple of gaming tablet options that you guys can look at if interested.
One of these days, somebody is going to develop a PS2 emulator for this thing. When that day comes, I'm buying it.

In Shinobi, it's not a problem with the buttons on your double-jump, it's just that the double-jump is very finnicky in the original game. There's only a small time window for you to push jump again for it to work.
Very true, but I think the original pad makes it that bit more easier to pull off the double jump... so I reckon the best way to play Revenge of Shinobi is to dust off your old megadrive/genesis and stick the cart in!
Great video, very instructive. So far was there any aspect of the device you were hoping to do and were NOT able to? any game you tried that was too slow or not working at all? any real complains?
Every game I wanted to play worked without a problem, other that a bit of slowdown in parts of Chrono Cross PSP. Hopefully others can add feedback about their experiences too. Thanks for your comment !

I just received one of these and am having some out of sync audio issues and skipping during my N64 emulation. I understand that emulation is not perfect, but this device has better hardware than my Toshiba Thrive, yet I am having more issues emulating on the JXD...Thanks!!!!!

I have to say I haven't delved too far into the N64 emulator, so am sorry to hear(no pun intended) about your problem. There is other emulators out there that might be better then the one pre-installed. A Android Emulator forum might be a good place to look to see if there are better emulators that will fix your problem. I do know that there are settings you can mess about with. I'll tick this comment and maybe a viewer can help you out. All the best, Dave

I've got mine now. No problems with WiFi and the usb cable can be used to transfer files to the device. I've had fun playing commodore 64 and gba games.

fmoros I downloaded Frodo C64 for Commodore 64. I also recommend Amiga emulators. I use UAE4Drod and Uae4all2-SDL.
Lee Fisher , thanks a lot for the tip. We grow up with the C128 and then Amiga 512, so I will definitely follow your lead on those emulators for the JXD.
As a matter of fact, I did tried the amiga and Commodore emulators for windows but I did not succeed to use the ROMs, I did not understand what to do on the loading part. I will try with the JXD and if i have probs, I will ask again :).

Nice video on the S7800! I have a question though which is bugging me and hoping you can help me out! My S7800 ive had now for a week and its pretty much spot on, I love it. However, whenever I try HDMI from the device it seems to cut framerates in half and slow down the device (even if i ramp up the clock speed). when you use HDMI does your device take a performance hit at all via TV out or is it still perfect?

its not a bad gaming tablet... in terms gaming and emulation it comes second to the Shield. I also have one of these and the firs thing I would recommend to get the most out of it is that you install the latest supercharged 2.2 rom, then you can further customize it by installing overclocked kernels which is great but I have no yet had the need to. Ensure once you install the supercharged rom that you then install the stock kernel. This will mean that you have the benefit of very optimized and smooth firmware that wont drain your battery and it will last for ages. Then for every emulator ensure you create a profile in set cpu of 1.6hz so emulators always run at their best.. that's it... epsxe and all other emulator + android games will run very nicely

MaximumRD You are a fountain of knowledge mate, I knew that the 7800 and the 7800b were the same and simply concluded that the b must mean black, as is sometimes the case with gadgets like this. Hey, what do you mean by rooting it? Most emulators do allow to run from the MicroSD card, just PSP and I think PS1, don't. As well as the arcade emulator. I've got a link in the video description with a link to a great company that sells them worldwide. Cheers

What's the battery life on this thing? I've been using my SGS2 /w a DS3 & GameKlip but it'd be nice to have a dedicated emulation device instead of draining my phones batteries which aren't holding a charge as long as before!
The battery is probably the weakest part of this console, but this will be because of how much power the actual 7"screen and quad core processors need... 3hours is the tops, it is also a Li-Polymer battery so it is more prone to dying then the standard batteries you get in phones and the vita for example. I have a battery issue as it happens so I will update this review once it has been resolved.
It sounds like I might be better off just waiting until next year whenever the SGS5 comes out and SGS4's get cheap, pick up a few batteries and continue the DS3 + GameKlip setup
Thanks! I was originally interested in the uhmm, JXD 5110b since its a lighter, 5inch PS-Vita-looking gaming device. Such a shame that these aren't better on battery life! Is it because they use Li-Po vs Li-Ion, or is it the less-efficient chips SoC?
GeordieGames Can you buy a spare battery for the JXD S7800, and swap them when one has ran out?
Lass Rori This is the ultimate handheld for emulation, 7" screen HDMI output, N46, PS1, PSP, MD, SNES, NES,ARCADE all work brilliantly on it. I'm sure the problem I've got is fixable, if it is just a software issue and it just needs charging while turned off then I highly recommend this awesome piece of tech, but I'd wait to see if my problem isn't really a problem after all.

how is the battery life and the quality of pc stream? interested in this coz i heard it does exactly what the shield does.
The battery seems to last me around 3 hours, continuous play. You can't stream PC games unfortunately :-(
Use a MicroSD card to transfer files from your PC to your S7800 instead of USB :-)

Hi there, I wanted to ask a question. I recently ordered this gaming tablet and received it today. What I noticed is that there is a visible grid underneath the screen. Not that it bothers very much, but I was wondering am I the only one with this problem or is this normal? Thanks in advance,

I *think* I know what you mean. There is a hide button, but it is quite useful as there is also a button you can use to close apps that are running in the background, saving battery and optimizing performance.
If it isn't what I think it is, can you please be more specific?

Yeah I did mate :-( what a job I had selecting and deleting hordes of games I wanted and didn't want, and the ones I wanted unzipped like 7 different versions of the games! I have well and truly backed up my SNES collection now!

I have the ROMs extracted and on a micro SD. But when I try to open a file it tells me its still compressed.

Hey Mike, Just checked my PSP card I use. The files need to be extracted, this should create a folder with the same name as the zip file and in that folder should be an "iso" file, for example, Chrono_Cross.iso
Navigate to this file in your emulator and bob's your uncle. If you're still having problems download "happy chick" from the Google Store and install the PSP emulator that comes with that(you can also use happy chick to download some PSP games).

I've finally got it to work!! For some reason I had to extract the files twice ie extract the original DL then select all relevant files and extract again to get the image file. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Mike,
Some emulators require the ROMS to be held on the S7800's memory and not the SD Card. I have done a video on how you can do this, check it out it should help you. Let me know how you get on!

How to transfer games to Micro sd card
Would be criminal not to sign in and say bloody good job mate and a thumbs up and sub from me . I also love retro gaming as u will notice from my channel and sea of VGM Mashups :D.. Actually just got a psp emu running gods of war other day. Got into xbmc lately running on ipad and pc and was almost about to purchase an android tv box for xbmc but after a few hours research on A31S vs RK3188 chips and all that boring shit we have to do these days I came across this unit .. DOES IT RUN XBMC (IF ITS RUNNING RK3188 I DONT SEE WHY IT WOULDN'T) and can it run for along time without heat issues . I would rather pay a few quid more and get this to play all my games
the wireless speed might be an issue with xbmc as u stream proper hd tv movies etc ?? Still might be worth a purchase just as my 1st ever handheld . Couldn't play em when younger as always a shitter version of a game I was already playing if that makes sense , but these days there are gems just for the tablets . Mame is my fav ever emu I think as the whole arcades in your palm still blows my mind :)
Sorry for late reply mate, your post slipped through the net. Some people have said that their wi-fi is spot on, but I've had 2x 7800 and both have slow internet. Not sure if you could reliably stream HD Movies onto this. For Retro games and some really good Android games and apps this is what you want. JXD S7800B is better than Iben l1 ??????
Just had a quick look at the iBEN L1, looks cool. It has more RAM but less processing power. I haven't tested one so can't recommended it, but it does look very similar to the S7800, very cool. If you get one let me know what you think!

A 64gb card worked on my device. Apparently all 64gb cards use sdxc technology which is licensed by Microsoft (who else!) which is why most companies state up to 32gb compatability only. Just an fyi on what I read.
