I have this sub and I love it, this is real world testing. Mine is for music only. A sub should not overpower, but enhance. What I don't like is testing audio equipment on the internet, whats the point, thats not the way it sounds in real life. I will never turn my amp all the way up because my home is not a disco. If that's the way he listens to it, that's real world.
Buy Paradigm speaker like the old school 9 SE MKII.... you dont need to flex the woofer to have deep bass ..... you just have shitty audio and dont know a lot about !!
pmgodfrey Sorry but this video is a demonstration. The point of demonstrations are to see what a product can do. This video is pointless as a demonstration. The only thing this video demonstrates is the visual appearance of this subwoofer. I will give examples of what this video is like This video is like demonstrating how fast a Corvette is by driving through a residential neighborhood at 30mph. This video is like demonstrating how fast a computer is by playing a youtube video. This video is like demonstrating how accurate your firearm is by shooting a target 10 feet away. This video is like demonstrating how loud your subwoofer is by playing a movie at 1/6 volume level. Like I have demonstrated, this video is pointless.
You're right about this ... but its hard to feel sound on youtube !!! ... ist like feeling the corvette !! ..you cant feel it by a vidéo ...... Any owner of good Paradigm product will make a video like this ...Those speaker and Design are legendary .... you can see the flex if you want ... but you need a 10 hz cycle !!! .... and with this beast if he do this ... its like driving a corvette in downtown a 300mph .... dangerous !!
Sub 12 Don'T (not sure) have DSP amp and the driver look really REALLY more powerful and have more Xmax ...... but price categorie are not the same ! I thing you can by-pass the DSP on the pb-12 ...but a the price of a monoblock power amp In general.... DSP is use for boosting a bad driver or to make it more flat and accurate ..... so its not really music ... and putting 1k watt on a 200watts driver will not sound really good and driver will blow rapidely sub12 www.paradigm.com/products-current/type=subwoofer/model=sub-12/page=specs SVS www.svsound.com/subwoofers/ported-box/pb12-plus
PB 12 obviously does't go as low as sub12, I noticed a lot of low frequencies on sub 12, PB12 isn't as loud either. But ported subs tend to go lower than sealed subs, PB13 ultra will be my ultimate HT sub. But sealed subs are better for music.
Tim Wynn pb-12 plus and the sub 12 are both rated EXACTLY the same in extension which is 16 hz. not sure what you read to make you think the sub 12 would play lower. and it should have much more output from its port tune (16 hz mode) to around 40 where the sealed sub could start catching up. the pb-13 ultra is definitely not the best sub out there if you are searching for the ultimate tim. please look into the seaton submersive, the JTR S2 or JTR orbit shifter. they are the cream of the crop and will mop the floor with a pb-13 ultra.
scoobydue wel,l what you read on the spec is not always the case, it depends on room size, corrections, positions etc. You are right about the ported being lower in HT set up, for music, I'd stick to the seal subs. I was watching this scene in Black Hawk Down on sub 12, I could not only hear the lower extension but also felt it, which was not the case with my pb12. I've read reviews of seaton's subs, i haven't heard eith Pb13 or seatons subs in person, so I can't comment on that. I'm pretty sure either of them won't be a disappointment. now im just happy with a measly B&W's 150W sealed sub.
Tim Wynn I've heard just about every sub thats worth hearing. the seaton is down right amazing. that is the best serious sub you could buy if you had to have one in a living room. if looks weren't important the S2 is a monster. single digits easy. i used to own a pair of pb-13 ultras and sold them once i heard some DIY 18's and now own a quad 18 sealed setup. haven't looked at upgrading once in the last couple years which is a big thing for me lol
Finding Nemo, really???????? THATS's your 'bass test'???????????
TruAgape1234 lmfaooooo RIGHT!?!?! like wtf was that
lol i would try War of the worlds

You are telling us to detect bass in Finding the Nemo? God

best film to test your subwoofer
A floor is basically 3 inches of mud....elevate your subwoofer...hear it's accuracy and fidelity . ..
cool sub!да на такой раскошелиться не жалко,только подкапить надо)
Lol @ spending $2500 on a 1700rms sub that you won't even turn up! Thanks for showing me what it looks like when it's doing nothing!
