This is a day in my life of living out of a campervan. Some days are productive, some are not. This was an unproductive day. I spent some time researching auto parts. I’ve found that there is a limited choice of parts for this ProMaster City cargo van. I think I’ve found every auto parts supplier online. Now I need to settle on which expensive parts I will order. It’s nice to have the time to do research.
If you would like to help me keep making videos, please take a look at some of the links below. Thank you!

My name is Scott and in 2015, I bought a Ram ProMaster City to live in. Even though I didn’t know much about RV’s and campervans, I set about building the van out as a minivan camper. And in April of 2016, I moved into my minivan full time.
Over the years, I’ve learned you don’t need to have a big skill set to build your own campervan. And that living as a minimalist and utilizing solar power can be a less expensive way to live. I’ve also learned that a minivan can be a very comfortable home.
Please follow along as I document my journey.
My Channel Stickers are now available for purchase through PayPal. If you would like to purchase them, please send me $4 for one sticker or $7 for two stickers.
At this time, I will only be accepting PayPal for payments.

Also, I will be mailing out all orders once a week. So please be patient with me.
In an effort to help viewers search for the best prices on products that I use, I’ve started an Amazon Influencer link:

Just a nice day. Thank you.🦋
Always enjoy catching up with your life. It feels like having a friend, maybe a bit one sided but you get our replies . Such nice weather and scenery you get. Glad you shared it
Great video, I've enjoyed it, and that meal sounds delicious goodday
Static I must confess you are personally responsible for my family's Yellow Bird addiction. The introduction on this one worked very well. This is the first time I've seen any content creator, including "van lifers" do this. Really cool to observe an actual moment in the van unfold naturally without any dialogue.
I use those gravy packets (My favorite is Road's End Organics Quik Gravy Golden),
1 tbsp curry powder and a can of coconut milk to make a sauce I use over veges and tofu. But it would taste great with the salmon and noodles too! Thanks for the video-
Wanted to let you know I went in to Albertsons the other day and saw Yellowbird there. Thought you might like to know. 🙏❤️
I do the exact same thing with my iPad when I park somewhere to shop! Great minds. Lol 😂
You just taught me what ranch dressing is made of and a shortcut to make curry. I’m learning more about cooking from you than anyone else. Lol
About the ground beef: I read an article recently that stated that there is a shortage of meats due to a pandemic-caused production slowdown. (Not an issue for me.) I was both entertained and educated from your video! 😀
Some fresh herbs would turn my Ranch Dressing hack into the real thing. ✌🏼
Love the new haircut! Nothing wrong with an unproductive lazy day now and then. I had myself one today, slept in super late and then stayed in bed on my phone for a couple hours after waking up. Gotta give yourself some space to relax once in a while!
I have one of those unproductive days just about every Sunday. I've worked hard every day of my life and felt guilty if I didn't accomplish something every day. Now I give myself permission to have a down day during the weekend.
Do you like sardines? When I was going swimming, alot. I'd have a strong craving for sardines after my swim. Once in my car, I'd eat my sardines with crackers. I was swimming for like 2.5 hours. This made me hungry. I used to buy me Pollo Loco, for dinner sometimes, eat in my car and people watch.
Been a very long time since I’ve had sardines. I used to like them
Looks like Delicious Chinese Noodles 😋 Yummy 👍✌️🤞👌🙌🙏🇺🇲✨🌅🌄✨🌞
A man, a can and a plan. Yum
I want to try the Yellow Bird, now! I looked for it in 2 of the grocery stores in my town, yesterday, but they didn’t have it. So, I googled it, and found out that The Apple Barn in Sevierville carries it (Sevierville is right next to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, about an hour away). I go to The Apple Barn about 4 times per year, so I am glad to know they carry it. HOWEVER, while researching local retailers online, I discovered that I can also buy it from Amazon. I can’t wait to try it! Also, what a great idea to add the Apple cider vinegar and pepper to the mayonnaise jar, when it gets close to empty. Thanks for the tip! 👍
You can also order directly from the company at: www.yellowbirdfoods.com/
If you like a spicy sauce, you’ll most likely love it.
I loved watching this ritual of coffee making, then that first sip. I could almost smell and taste it. Ahhhh, heaven.
Your dinner sounds good👍🍴
nice, slow paced video gave me time to notice details, like i use my aeropress in the exact same way. that we have the same fuse box, and fish spatula. that you're also a fan of chrome's vancity vanlife channel, as am i. ok, back to the video ☺️.
Chrome is the Best!
Where's the beef? I've been using a fair amount of Italian sausage lately. It's so humid in St Louis no worries about wrinkles. They're gone in a heartbeat.
I sent away (2 months ago) for a sampler pack of smaller bottles...thanks. I enjoyed you video....so random....a good way to end my day :)
wish sandwich... "where you have two slices of bread and you wish you had some meat" lol... Blues Brothers....
Done it, joined the channel, keep broadcasting, Thanks
Hey, Thanks Sean!
Also, I just realized that I’m not being sent notifications when a new member joins up. Thanks for dropping a message and alerting me to the fact. ✌🏼
❤ Yummy 😋 Salad looks Delicious 😋👍✌️🤞👌🙌🙏🇺🇲✨🌅🌄
If you want to get help with that wrinkled shirt, you can get yourself a spray bottle of any size and put water in it.
spray the shirt and the water and your body heat will help to get it unwrinkled you can also try to smooth it out that may help also.
Drinking my cup o' java while watching you prepare yours was very relaxing - loved the music. The mayo hack was genius - I'll have to try it. And let me be the one to cast the non-popular vote - I really liked your Jeremiah Johnson beard, and hope you grow it back when the weather cools down, it was a thing of beauty. 🧔🏻☕️
The long beard equals laziness. When I’m working 60+ hours a week, I tend to get lazy and put off trimming my beard. ✌🏼
I’ll definitely look for the Yellow Bird!
You are looking better and better these days. Nicely coiffured.
Thanks, Angela.
Thanks for sharing the food hacks
OOOOO I've just seen that I can buy Yellow bird on line in the U.K😃
Yes, apparently Yellowbird ships overseas. I wonder if you can find a similar hot sauce that is made in the UK, though.
@@StaticCamperVan Hi Scott ,Im sure there must be something 🙂
Do a video explaining in detail how do you make your coffee please
Great to see you again Scott! LOVE your new haircut! Thanks for sharing all your tips and observations and scenery and music and learning something about the places you visit. 🕊️☕😅
You inspired me to try YellowBird....found it at Natural Grocers in Denver....thanks for the inspiration!
Glad you like it!
Tomorrows alright by me
You have a few irons on board with you. Lay your garment on your counter and take a hot pan or pot and run it over your wrinkled garment with a little pressure, instant iron. So, there you go sir......
To much effort! Haha
A spritz of water from a spray bottle and let hang overnight (or do the same day then wear) to dry helps a bit, too.
The wife recently made me a salad where she cut everything up in TINY bits. Talking 1/2 sugar cube or smaller. Added bacon bits ...chicken...tomatoes ,etc
Again... everything diced up TINY ! It's the best. I don't think I'll ever make one again without doing this.
.... bless ur heart Scott, ur so 'old school' .... worried 'bout wrinkles .... yeah, that ranch dressing recipe sounded good .... 'specially the cracked black pepper .... wonderful havin' internet again .... it's a long story .... 🙋☕
Can't blame you mesmerized by the view 😉
Scott I can see that you once worked in a restaurant.
I just finished a bottle of Yellowbird Ghost pepper ... love it
Just want you to know that i still enjoy your videos. I ordered a couple of those really neat stickers. I am a long-haul truck driver from ohio and i enjoy relaxing videos from simple and humble individuals.....which yours are. =D
Hwy, Thanks so much!
Very nice !
I’m a Cholula and Tapatio guy. Never heard of Yellow Bird but will have to try it.
Haha! I live iun Australia, so I thought I'd check how much it would cost to get that sauce here. If I buy from Yellowbird directly, with shipping it will cost me US$78.01 for two bottles...!
Ouch! Hahaha
Ain't it handy how you can reach just about everything in the van while sitting in one place?
Haha, yes. But the Tardis is bigger than it appears on camera.
I'll have to compare Yellow Bird to my favorite, Salsa Huichol.
It’s a bit more expensive. But a little goes a long way.
San Diego here. I usually purchase 93% grassfed at Grocery Outlet for $4.99 lb. The 54th and El Cajon Bl location had plenty two days ago
Thanks. The Grocery Outlet I was at didn’t have any. I thought it was odd because they always have a stock of beef.
@@StaticCamperVan yes. I can recall twice when they were out at 54th Street. Fortunately, the nearby Waring Road location had plenty both times.
🌄☕At the point having seen about 97%+ of your videos and takes awhile to locate one I've not seen... Then I got all "happy!" For found this unseen one, Yeah! 😊🎉 Some I've been watching for a second, even third time. ☕🌄
Just noticed your new haircut and beard trim so right for summer & prepping your own coffee brew...so cool 👍👍👍
Hello Scott, Ron B here from L V. Great Times watching your U T. I stayed at Ocean Beach two nights. Great place and people.
Great! Good to know you liked OB.
When the Yellowbird gets about 1/2 empty or so... add pure water to it. Works great to make it last. I did it with the Ghost pepper i had. Time for a new bottle.
SO RELAXING :)
Some people are fervently anti-Walmart . . . but if you're not among them, they are a pretty fair source of grass-fed beef . . . Chuck roast ($6.50/lb), ground beef from 80% to 93% lean, starting at about $5/lb!
I’m one of them, haha. But, good to know. I usually am able to find grass fed beef at Grocery Outlet for $5 a pound.
You need to eat more greens hun if you can , spinach, broccoli etc ❤
I follow a very specific diet from my naturopathic doctor
@@StaticCamperVan can I ask you what your health issues are , you can tell me to mind my own business will not be offended x
I’d tell you but we aren’t actually allowed to discuss it here
Just received my bottle of Yellowbird Serrano today. Yes, we can get it down under in Australia, but we pay for it! Smells wonderful 🌶😁
Wow, your bottle of sauce has taken a long trip! Hope you like it!
It has!
Just tried it on a pastie and it was delicious.
Hope you find those parts 😊
Okay now I have to go to REI tomorrow! Hope you get the parts worked out
Scott I can't say for Apple but on Android UA-cam app went to settings under general... there is an upload choice where you can choose all networks or Wi-Fi only ...hope that helps thanks for the uploads
Love the hair cut and beard length! I like watching your cooking in the van~
Enjoyed the early morning coffee ritual. Yay, YellowBird, love me a good hot sauce. Gonna have to head over to REI.
Always a pleasure watching! Nice fresh look you got there! 👌
After heating your water, put a paper towel over your shirt, then use the hot water kettle to press just the chest area ..Maybe? 😆 Never mind...I'm not going to worry about it!! 😊
👍🏼
Loving the summer look. Haircut and less beard. Don’t send me the stickers, sell them to someone else. I couldn’t figure out how to send Bob at CheapRV $1 a month and you the other four I was sending him. But I will!
Bless your heart. The stickers are on their way already.
Thanks, Dee!
@@StaticCamperVan ok keep them next month.
🙋♀️☕️🥗Lovely making for awhile this Day some Journey travels with you Static. Salad looked delicious and your dinner somewhat how I cook using Ramen, eggs, carrots and some mustard and depending what else I have on hand.
The walk by the water's edge looked so refreshing and relaxing...
Sweet evening to you and Blessings 🥗☕️🙋♀️
Thank you
Will have to try the Yellowbird sauce. Two brands for your consideration : Switched out ground beef with Mori Nu tofu (unrefrigerated) and haven't looked back since. For chili, have some Bob's Red Mill dried TVP on hand. ;-)
We love you ! But that wrinkled t shirt is simply unacceptable ! lol !
haha, i just 'wear out' the wrinkles.
Just saw your Oat Milk at the Edmonds PCC the other day.
So PCC has started to stock Oatly. Good.
@@StaticCamperVan Just as an FYI I happened to notice while in the Thriftway on Ballenger Way yesterday that they carry YellowBird products, both large and small bottles.
Cool 👍🏼
somehow I like your cooking tips :-)
Neat computer stand. No affiliate link in your Amazon store! Nor for the Yellowbird.
I don’t make money from the Amazon link. So I rarely add items to it. I’ll see if I can find a link for it. But you’d be better off searching for one that matches the size of your computer or tablet.
www.yellowbirdfoods.com/
I just added the stand to my Amazon link. But, wow, the price has doubled since I bought this one. I don’t think it’s a good value now.
@@StaticCamperVan Not Amazon affiliate? Too hard to get in that program? Hey, the stand has a button to click for 50% off! Bought it...$13.36 with tax. Btw, I'm seeing some channels getting nice mileage from having an Amazon wishlist. Moose Henderson - Moosevilla Off Grid is an example. He's a wildlife photographer with a PhD in animal biology. Photo guides people around the Tetons. I guess his channel appeals to people with deep pockets. He gets fabulous response to his wishlist, items big and small. You probably have a generally less wealthy following, but little items add up, especially when they are things needing replacement often. Could be good, too, for equipment upgrade components.
Interesting gravy hack. I wonder if the brown gravy is "neutral" enough that it would lend itself well to other flavors.
The first time I tried this, I used mushroom gravy. It wasn’t as tasty as I imagined. So I switched to the brown gravy.
How's it going Static Scott! I hope all is well! Take is easy, slow and greasy, as my cousin would say!
I’m good, thanks Antonio
I see you are using a Hario Mini Slim Coffee Grinder, was this before or after the STARESSO Grinder?
And you Yellowbird campaign it doing well, I could not find it locally so I ordered a bottle. Looking forward to trying it.
Looking at the published date, yes that was before I got the Staresso grinder.
Yellowbird is getting well known. I hope you checked the description box of my newest video regarding Yellowbird.
Hello. Great idea on the mayo! No more guilt about wasting the last of the mayo. How about the mustard jar? Not sure if you ever shop at Walmart? I buy Organics grass-fed ground beef 1lb. Great price. Stay well.
Been years since I bought any mustard.
Can’t bring myself to shop at Walmart. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
@@StaticCamperVan I know...Walmart. I get it! Fortunately, or unfortunately, they carry a lot of organics for affordable prices.
Thank you for another great share! I looked at Yellowbird webstite, no stores close by in PNWest:( Well done and , maybe you can share when you do find a good source for your Van parts, as you are always very thorough in your research... thanks in advance and all the BEST to you! Cheers :)
It appears there is no best source for auto parts. Seems to depend on the vehicle and the parts in question.
Is that shirt all cotton? I still wear some cotton shirts, but seem to have gravitated towards sport-tek all polyester race shirts, "Sport-Tek ST340 PosiCharge RacerMesh Tee". They're lightweight, no wrinkling, naturally sort of wicking, they look good for years. You could probably even wash them in your sink. Just something to ponder. You'd take a large I think.
Yes, almost all my shirts are 100% cotton. I can’t stand synthetic fibers. They make me itchy and give me bad B.O.
@@StaticCamperVan hmm. The racer shirts do smell terrible after 3 or 4 good sweats in them, moreso than cotton. I guess if the cotton works, then party on with them.
I have a couple dozen shirts already because that’s what I wore for my last job.
@@StaticCamperVan Is there such a thing as 'good' B.O. ? :)
I just picked up a bottle of yellowbird at REI today, as I was almost out. Thanks for turning me on to that brand. Which manual coffee grinder is that you have and do you recommend that one ?
You’re welcome.
This grinder is a Hario Mini Slim. Honestly, it’s the one item that I use on a daily basis that I would like to upgrade.
Hario makes decent quality items, but their grinders are a bit outdated. They grind very slow and aren’t very consistent. A grinder with Stainless Steel Burrs is a better option than the Ceramic Burrs that Hario uses.
Hario is a good choice if budget is your biggest concern.

What is the make/model of that little stove you’re using to boil water on? Thanks!
The stove is made by Stansport. More info here: ua-cam.com/video/lsCcbvDp4ns/v-deo.html
Hard for me to keep on videos my husband has stage four cancer he's back in the hospital. tried oat milk it was think like water.
I’m very sorry to hear about your husband.
Most Oat Milks I’ve tried have been thin. And a lot had strange flavors. I like Oatly Full Fat, the best.
What do you do to get rid of the cooking smells in your van I use Lysol spray
Rarely ever have cooking odor because I always keep my vents open. Good airflow means no lingering odor.
👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍
Are the van repairs holding you up in San Diego or do you just enjoy it there?
Can’t it be both?
Are you still in San Diego?
Yes, Mission Bay is in San Diego.
If reasonable money wasn't an issue would you choose the same van or are there others you would consider
I’d be open to a minivan. But I like cargo vans because the lack of windows makes them easier to build out and more comfortable in extreme weather.
@@StaticCamperVan thanks for reply
@@StaticCamperVan I know I'm over thinking this but, as static van living becomes more prevalent perhaps a minivan would be more stealthy in urban neighborhoods . With your experience do you think that's a valid consideration.
You’re welcome. Thank you for the support. I appreciate it.
Stealth doesn’t exist. It did at one time. Now It’s a marketing term used to get views.
I leave my doors open all the time. I never hide the fact that my van is my home.
Honest UA-cam content creators need to stop spreading the lie of “stealth”.
Have you tried Auto Zone ?
I asked for you to not give me any suggestions for auto parts 😂
@@StaticCamperVan never again!
Haha, ok 😂✌🏼

Yes, reading these comments is like a part time job haha
I'll try not to contribute to the job....I get it
What type of sink do you have? Link plz?
The sink is from a restaurant supply store. I bought it about 6 years ago so don’t have a link or even know if this exact sink is still made. Here’s a link to a video where I give all the info I have on the sink: ua-cam.com/video/7TfxOQRvqUc/v-deo.html
By the end of the day your wrinkles in your shirt disappeared! Worked out fine!
Sweat seems to halve softened the wrinkles!
you should build out another van…just to sell it
This van needs a bunch of work first. And the truth is that I can’t really afford to do all of the work it needs. Another van is out of the question.
