The way they made all the movies connect is amazing and John Kramer is such a fantastic character wonderfully played by Tobin Bell. I will always love this franchise and Saw X is a great addition
After the first few it was no longer about the story just the money. Sometimes they should stop or wait until they can come up with something better. They rushed them so they would come out just before Halloween seven years in a row. So planning that and filming corners will be cut.
My wife and I sure as hell didn't. We couldn't pick up our jaws fast enough. (I was maniacally laughing through the sawing the foot scene. Not because it was funny, but because my nervousness was driven to insane heights.)
The young guy who was chained up is Leigh Whanell.. He's the mind behind this wonderfully twisted gory treat..You might have seen him in INSIDIOUS as well as one of the two guys working for the woman psychic.. BTW, Request for an INSIDIOUS watchalong as well.. And SINISTER.. So lovely sweet sweet movies both.. As far as gore goes.. Hahahaha.. Eat my heart..
Steph, part of the reason horror villains don't always have a motive is that the point is how random life and death are. Knowing what drives a killer can humanize them to the point that they're no longer frightening. It's far harder to write a compelling villain when you see them as something reasonable, even if their reason is faulty.
no one does understand the horrific level of the last scene,i'm really surprised honestly, think about it:you are being closed in that room forever,no one will reach you, save you, just you,the room and the darkness forever, you will have to wait your death, its become horrible when you emphatize yourself at that situation
_"I mean, is losing a foot equate to cheating on your wife? I'm not sure."_ Based on some of your comments, I think you ARE sure! LOL You nailed it about the budget versus the result. This was a very low-budget production, yet the viewer still got the maximum effect due to the great direction and camera work. This is a very claustrophobic film with every scene shot in small rooms and space and low or dark lighting, but at the same time you can actually see what's going on. Also, you hit on it, the movie actually makes the viewer THINK and imagine and question themselves on what they would do in this situation. I will say on Leigh Whannell's acting as Adam, 2 scenes that I thought he really nailed were (1) Adam's terrible acting trying to fool Jigsaw into thinking he was dead and (2) the final scene of Adam yelling out in horror. The first scene was hilarious and the second scene felt incredibly raw and real. Not sure what Whannell channeled or James Wan did to get that perfect final scream out, but it sealed the final act of the film perfectly.
Even if you don't like this type of horror movies you cant deny the amazing production that went in to this. If you are interested in film making this is a movie to really study. Its absolutly genius how they managed the low budget, the editing to enhance the feelings of the viewer and the script.
Glover and his partner didn't deserve to die which is why they weren't part of any game. They just showed up uninvited🤷♂ but great reaction, I hope you'll continue with 2 and 3 (the 4+ are whatever 😅)
Yeah, I was a little confused about his commentary on this plot point, but I guess he's saying that from a narrative standpoint, neither Tapp nor Singh deserved to die, but they're the detectives assigned to the case so of course their lives were always going to be at risk trying to catch Jigsaw.
The thing with the Saw franchise is that from outside it's expected to be just a horror/gore porn, but when you watch the first one you see that it is waaay more than that, and it gets even better after the second one
absolutely , sure it does take a nosedive after 3 when it comes to quality , but even with poorer movies , they are still SAW and they still have their story and their own twists.

Yeah I feel they didn't try to enjoy it because they already had an opinion made before watching the movie. Ofcourse you can see them enjoy the twist but you can definitely see their preconceived opinion of it being meaningless torture porn have an effect on their viewing. Hopefully they understand how it's more of a dark mystery with people having their sins turned against them in the form of torture and a moral puzzle all at once.
@@williameleno i felt the same , i kind of felt uncomfortable watching them thinking it was gonna be torture porn the entire way. people who don't understand SAW , don't deserve SAW imo because there's no point in it if you can't understand the deeper story and plot just because you're scared of some fictional gore
The co-lead that jabi noted has a sub par acting / Ezra look alike (character = Adam) is Leigh Whannell. He is the Screenplay writer & co-story writer (co with James Wan) for this movie. In addition to the second and third installments (same duties except acting for the other two). This trilogy is an wonderful encapsulation of a great psychological crime thriller. The rest are just devoid of any story or narrative satisfaction these three movies offer.
For the eyeball trap on SAW X, They wanted to bring back the atmosphere from Amandas reverse bear trap scene so they used the same tension building, camera angles & speed and color pallete of the 1st one. My new favorite trap by far
Fabulous reaction! I love watching people react to this movie! It was very low budget and shot in a short amount of time. And Saw was the First “escape room!” ❤
one thing about the Saw movies is that John is pretty loose with what he defines as being 'ungrateful for your life'. As much as he says that he talks about his own virtue, he's perfectly willing to stick people in traps who are only guilty by association. Allison and Diana obviously didn't do anything wrong but by John's reasoning, since they are the easiest thing to use to get to Lawrence he's willing to put their lives on the line. Once you get into the later series we see a lot more people in traps who definitely don't deserve it. If I lived in this world I'd be scared to forget to say bless you after someone sneezes because Jigsaw might crucify you for it (and yes that is about on the same level as some of the victims, it gets ridiculous) Even despite his immensely flawed logic, John Kramer is my favourite horror villain of all time. Perfect combination of madness and genius level intellect, with a backstory its very easy to sympathize with. Absolutely love the reaction and would be thrilled to see you watch the others

Perfect reaction to release on Halloween! I watched this for the first time when I was 15 years old and I didn’t sleep soundly for days after that! But what I do genuinely love about these movies is that the villain John Kramer aka Jigsaw is A) Is the first “slasher” character who has never technically killed anyone himself, his victims lack the will to live; and B) He has an incredibly powerful message that he is trying to teach these people which is to cherish your life. That most people have sadly lost our Survival Instinct.

It's worth it . The story and characters are great . There are more twists and turns to come and the performance of Tobin Bell as Jigsaw in the sequels is always amazing. Give it a try
Jigsaw isn't a moral character, that's the point of showing people getting killed just for going after him. Same with Dexter, same with every human, however much a human tries to be the most moral he/she can be, there will come moments where the human falters, and most if not all humans would choose their survival, over morality. The simple reason for it is humans are flawed, and in our ideals of morality / God for some people, we strive and try to preach morality, judge others when they show immoral behaviors, but we can often forget to consider the flaws of being human.
I just discovered this channel through this reaction so I will say... Male- you learn a lot about his motivations and the purpose of involving kids later Female- I feel like you could cover your eyes through some of the gory parts and really enjoy some of the upcoming movies .... These movies are meant to be binge I think because you get a lot more backstory peppered through the later movies I will tell you the ones that stick in my head the best are not in the middle but they have good stories too it's just I couldn't remember which of the stories is based on what setup and witch traps are to which movies they sort of run together I have been the first three together multiple times and 10 is a MASTERPIECE but you have to earn it you have to watch the other ones first to understand what's going on but I was just telling people after I saw it I'm pretty sure that movie basically exists to show you the intention of having kids involved I can't say anything more than that because I kind of feel like it would give awaythings in the sequels and believe me the thing about the kids the fandom has been thinking about that from the very beginning don't worry you find out what's going on eventually

the newest one was actually pretty good, I liked it surprisingly.
It's Leigh Whannell. the actor who plays Adam
I've also been avoiding this movie(and franchise), glad to hear I'm not the only one 😅 Maybe watching you guys watch it can be the way i finally dip my toes so to speak.
The simple reason for it is humans are flawed, and in our ideals of morality / God for some people, we strive and try to preach morality, judge others when they show immoral behaviors, but we can often forget to consider the flaws of being human.
love the saw series
I just discovered this channel through this reaction so I will say...
Male- you learn a lot about his motivations and the purpose of involving kids later
Female- I feel like you could cover your eyes through some of the gory parts and really enjoy some of the upcoming movies
Yay, Steph is back!!!
Saw, Saw II and Saw III are great films and so far those are the only Saw films I've seen.
From you saying there was a barn in the one you watched I assume you saw " Jigsaw " which is technically Saw 8.
Correction here: doctors still do use pagers. Ask Doctor Mike.
can't believe this movie is almost twenty years old
Its the style of the movie more than the era its made
