No brainer for me. I love diamonds for its sparkle. Since the moissanite is actually more sparkly, the moissanite is my preferred stone.
sparkles in different colors though

My wife went with Moissanite for her engagement and wedding bands. It was either buy a diamond at a lesser carat or a larger Moissanite and still have money left over.
This is like 90% of the cases that I sell moissanite. I love your thought process and thanks for chiming in!

Not gonna lie. I love the elegant sparkle of a diamond. Moissanites are yellowish and give a wild sparkle

You fell for the diamond scam thinking they are rare 😆

Thank you. Finally someone with sense. Everyone else says Moissanite is better cause they can't afford the real thing.
I love the rainbow sparkle that moissanite gems have. That’s exactly why I’d want that in an engagement ring hahaha
It's nice to see authentic UA-cam videos without any of the fluff content creators have today. Thank you for the direct information. I was going to get moissanite since my soon to be fiance is petite.

Great video and good points. I would like to add - anyone who gets a moissanite don't play it off as a diamond! It's okay if you want something other as a diamond for an engagement ring; there are so many other beautiful stones that you can choose and as long as it makes you feel beautiful - that's what matters!
I couldn’t agree more, thank you for adding to this!!
To people who ask me about my ring, I always proudly tell them that it's moissanite. Most people have never heard of it, still!... And they all seem so curious about it given how much it just blinded them hehe..
Diamonds are overated for sure... I will buy a moissanite before a diamond hands down.
Don't forget other colored gemstones! You will find your favourite color if colorless and sparkling don't suit your taste
@@faithfulplatformrings I've always wanted one of those pretties; in fact, I'm going to order a package of loose moissanites, and make them into a treasure bottle pendant.🤩
My fiance picked out a BEAUTIFUL moissanite engagement 💍 for me. I was SO IMPRESSED. I am glad he did not spend a fortune on it. It sparkles, he gave it to me, so THAT makes it VALUABLE. I treasure HIM and my BEAUTIFUL 💍. I am so GRATEFUL to be with my soul mate.

This is how i feel. I found a beautiful 600 dollar engagement ring. He said i can break his pockets for the wedding ring lol
I Love the sparkly rainbow, Moissanite.
I think the main differences, to the naked eye, come about with stones larger than 6-7mm. That's when the rainbow effect of Moissanite is more apparent and you can see how clear an actual diamond refracts the light.
100% agree. Once you hit 6mm and above you're looking at almost 1ct stone and above. Much larger stone to inspect with the naked eye. Below that, 4mm or less can go either way.

I had my ring made and I absolutely love Moissanites
I find that moissanite diamond I find a lot affordable and very nice also comparing to a diamond ring is so expensive. It hard to tell sometimes. I purchased a moissanite stone and it is lovely 😍.
being new to the jewelry game, I ordered what was advertised as moissanite but it probably isn't, probably cz. It does have the rainbow "oily" effect you described but now that I know the stone should reflect white light not rainbow prism colors, I feel bad that I didn't see your video first. But live and learn. Thanks for teaching me about both natural diamonds and lab grown.
Great video

People I know bought moissanite because they appreciate the unique quality and beauty of moissanite. They didn’t buy it because it looked like a diamond. The warm color effects and extra fire radiance are gorgeous qualities of this fine gem 💎
But the thing is a high quality D color diamond has those flash of colors too, but almost noone can afford them lmao.
@@cooloutac They both sparkle in different colors
@@c.c.1070 that's not true at all if ot it doesn't Sparkle colors it's cuz you got a garbage diamond which is all mostpeople could afford. You can go to the Diamond District right now and it's probably only a couple D vs1 diamonds around there. Real talk. Lol
@@cooloutac Well most of the gemologist that I’ve talked too said that the higher the quality of diamond, the more “white” that shines as he stated here. I was told that the “different colors” thru diamond sparkle, are usually the reflections of what are around it. Then he took a diamond and placed a blue ball near it and there was only blue’s reflecting. He did the same with a red ball and a yellow ball, and it was the same. Then he did the diamond by itself, and color was absent. But I forgot what the name of the box was. I don’t deal with “jewelry” stores, I strictly deal with a CG for the stone, then it gets shipped to a bench jeweler for the fabrication. I stay away from the typical jewelry salesman or jewelers bcuz I’ve learned that 99% of them are just a salesman or woman, with knowledge of jewelry.
@@cooloutac just to clarify, I meant that they don’t sparkle the same, bcuz most people think that “white” is a color!

Love my moissanite!!
Thanks Bro
For sure!
Good piont about the gem size i was looking to buy for myself a nice lab grown dimond and came across the moissanite (never heard of this before) anyway the huge stones would be a giveaway that its not a diamond so i bought a small moissanite the size of a 1.5 c diamond, i could afford a real diamond and i have one but am.so scard i will forget it somewhere that's why i bought a cheaper option.
I love my moistynight!
I agree with the size! Stick with a good 1ct - 1.5ct with a halo to help kind of enclose that “rainbow” if that’s a concern. Edit to add, I say opt for gold instead of sterling silver. Yeah, it’ll add a couple more hundred onto the price BUT it’s just sturdier and more durable and if you’re wanting to pass this off as a true diamond ring, it’s much more believable (and easier to find bands to match)!
I coped some ruby red moissanite earrings and those mfrs hittin!! Luv em💯🔥
I have a 4.5 moissanite ring, cushion cut and I adore it. I have a 0.5 moissie ring and compared with my friend's diamond of similar size there is no difference
There is a difference. One is a billion years old and the other's man made. It's the sense of pride being able to say you have an actual natural diamond. One will always be worth more and Moissanite will just continue to become cheaper and cheaper, to the point where it wont even be special to have one. Natural diamonds are special cause they're limited and it's incredibly difficult to mine them.
I will always go with Moissannite its sturdy and the color is radient
I have moissanite and I absolutely love it I would choose it over a real diamond it's a fraction of the price it shines more the rainbow colors in it is phenomenal I love it I have it in real gold settings so it's a lifetime piece that I can hand down from generation absolutely a moissanite is wonderful it's my number one choice
You would choose it over a real diamond, because you want the biggest stone, so people think it's a real diamond. Not because you actually think a Moissanite is a better and more precious stone. These are lies you tell yourself to feel better.
The masonite comes out of colors like the fuel oil when you pour it over water
I think in todays world, Moissanite buyers aren’t buying it to impress it as a large diamond but show it as a beautiful moissanite gem. I saw an engagement ring not long ago and the gem was a beautiful lab grown alexandrite gem. It kind of shows “diamonds aren’t always a girls best friend.”
I prefer the rainbow bling
My Moissanite is 10mm and I’m happy with it.
How big of a moissanite is too big? I got a 3.5 carrat oval and I just love it! I think 4 carrats or more is where it would be a no no for me. Thoughts?
What size is too big going to vary person to person based on hand size. For example if you have a finger size 4 then you might want something a little smaller compared to someone that has a finger size 8. At the end of the day it is a personal preference but we do caution going really big in relation to finger size. Does that make sense?
I love my moissanite 3 carat engagement ring we’re together 18 year’s and 4 kids and still our love sparkle like my engagement ring🥰
Good for you! Congratulations!

@@edzcoverph2773: Painite...
I can tell the difference looking at the two right away. But I just like the moissanite better.
My wife wanted moissanite, I had never heard of it. After research, I ended up with a 2.25 karat oval moissanite solitaire that is D color and IF, of course, in a platinum setting. Probably a $25k diamond if I had went that route, for much, much less. Her ring is amazing!
Do you mind me asking where did you buy her ring ?
Where to buy moissanite
My husband got me a moissanite engagement ring too! and that thing is still turning heads all the time!!! I'm really happy with this ring and every time it sparkles in the sunlight I'm reminded of how much he loves me.
It would have cost probably more than twice that for those specs on a natural mined diamond.
Smart wife!!!
That’s not true that diamond only reflects white light. They both reflect rainbows although Moissanite does it more.
Yes...actually the higher quality diamonds reflect rainbows. I’ve seen a 2 carat at Tiffany’s look like a moissanite with its fire.

Hey thanks for being honest when we live in a culture of lies!
One of main differences I think is super important is the differences in scintillation. I think a lot of people get brilliance and scintillation confused. The big bold white flashes that reflect off the surface when you move the stone or view it at different angles is scintillation. This phenomenon is more noticible when comparing moissanite/diamonds that are in pave style setting opposed to solitares. Moissanite tends to look a bit more fuzzy if that makes sense. While diamonds tend to flicker in a cluster effect of bold, crisp white flashes.
This is because moissanite being double refractive breaks the white light up into more colored sparkles when entering the stone giving it a more fuzzy look. Diamonds hold more white light and reflect more white light back to the eye opposed to colored sparkles. That combined with the white light reflecting off the surface gives it those bold flashes of white light in a more rapid , flickering like effect when compared to moissanite. Hope that makes sense lol.
I have a 2 carat moissanite that I LOVE. I have several dimond rings of similar size that just do not have the beauty of my moissanite. I will NEVER purchase a dimond again.
I also believe if moissanite had appeared on the market before dimonds moissanite would now command the higher price.
From where did you buy your moissanite ring?

This is the absolute truth. Moissanites are far more beautiful than diamonds. I have several of both and I always get compliments on my moissanites but NEVER my diamonds. Seems strange, right? But I am not surprised.
I bought a moissinate stone ave first but ended up returning it because it looked plasticity. I settled on a lab grown diamond which was the best choice for me. Everyone is different.
Good to know
Plastic(ey) - looks like plastic in this case a rhinestone perhaps, in other words the rainbow effect was to obvious, so you should have gone with a harro moissanite and had it specially cut to match more diamond like refractive qualities.
Plasticity - (noun) the quality of being easily shaped or molded. (Biology) the adaptability of an organism to changes in its environment or differences between its various habitats.

Clarity is key too here
To each their own right? lol My husband got me a lab diamond because I personally didn't want a natural one for environmental reasons. Husband also never considered Moissanites because to him it's not a diamond. If the guy is getting a Moissy, I'd discuss it with the girl because there are people who care about those things and I know some people don't. Anyway, my ring sparkles so much in certain lighting but not blinding like moissies. Sometimes I get conscious because it sparkles so much, imagine if it was a moissy lol When picking for an e-ring, ask about the light leakage. I just have little light leakage, hence it sparkes more than your average diamond. Congrats to you guys!
What size should you stop at before it starts the noticeably rainbow effect kicks In

Diamonds vary so much more than moissanite leading to so much consumer confusion. An ideal or super ideal cut diamond will literally look amazing. Most moissanite stones come with a brilliant cut and womt have inclusions which could dull the stone.
The real question is do you want a clear stone with bright white light shooting out (only diamond) or a stone that is slightly less clear and exclusively shoots out bright rainbow colors.
I think the white light of a diamond looks classier and more refined but its all personal preference
As much as i want to save the money I’m inclined to agree 😩😩😩
Diamonds are worth nothing. They admitted the propaganda. Just to say you bought something to impress another is a ridiculous reason to purchase a diamond.

@Brittany W well it's synthetic in the sense that technically it was created in a lab, but it is in fact a natural occurring substance in nature. It's just very rare, more rare than diamond and when it is found its too little to turn into a ring... So people figured out to recreate it in a lab so that it CAN be made into a ring. If it naturally occurs in nature, I hardly think it is synthetic. People clone goats, but looking at a cloned goat, you can't say the goat looks synthetic. You get what I mean?? Plus, jewelers do tend to cut moissanite so that it can refract even more light, thus giving off a more synthetic look.

It really depends on what brand you go with but Charles and Colvard it the brand we use and they produce the best moissanites in the market in my opinion. Whenever you go to big with a stone you run the risk of it looking fake, I think a good size is around 1.5 to 2 carats.

I lost a lot of money on my original engagement ring. My ex husband and I bought it together. He originally proposed with something I was allergic to so had to get something else and we decided to get a bridal set and a men's wedding band together. It was a big mistake. The titanium bands are way overpriced in jewelry stores, and my ring I lost like $1450 on when trying to resell it, because my original diamond cracked and the jeweler replaced it with an even less valuable stone. Unfortunately my marriage turned out to be really bad news and I had to get out of it. I wasn't going to marry again, but I figured if I did, I wouldn't be sucked into the diamond stuff again. Fortunately I did meet a really nice guy and we had talked about that whole thing with the expense of the jewelry market long before we ever got engaged. And he agreed with going the moissanite route. Moissanite is so pretty without being super expensive, especially since I have to have a higher gold purity due to allergies and that alone makes wearing jewelry at all for me expensive. I can wear other stuff for like a day, but after that I get bad rashes. I'm really happy he listened to me and now we can concentrate on saving the money for our life together instead of dumping it into an overpriced ring that doesn't even retain half the value.
Still love that Moissanite Even if they Ask,How can I Afford It,Then let them Test in Diamond Tester 😅
Will most large and reputable jewelers sell both? Also, do they ever try to pass off moissanites as diamonds? In other words, is it common for jewelers to refer to moissanites as 'diamonds'?
It probably varies based on the jeweler but i would think that they would. Jewelers will use the term "Diamond Simulant" to describe a moissanite. I am sure this happens which is why you always need to ask for a reputable certification like GIA. If you are in the market we would love to be able to help you. Check us out at www.faithfulplatform.com
I think the most reputable jeweler will not sell moissanites as diamond simulant because diamond simulant is like a misnomer and too vague. Diamond simulant is a too broad term. It can be white sapphire, white topaz, CZ, etc.

I prefer the sparkle on a diamond, either mined or lab grown over a moissanite
Me too
Huh, so why is it when rappers and celebrities show off their diamonds they sparkle with colors? It literally makes sense that they are buying Moissanite with the over the top pieces that they have compared to the prices they claim they pay.
I have several pieces of moissanite jewelry. I own no diamonds because I would rather spend money on other things. I love my moissanites, and the rainbow effect. I dont try to pass them off as diamonds. Honestly, I really never liked diamonds.

You say that there is almost no difference in the hardness of the stone between a moissanite (9.25) and diamond (10). But how is that true if cubic zirconia is a 9 and it’s so soft that even household dust can scratch it?
Hey! Diamond is the hardest mineral on the Mohs scale, with a rating of 10. Cubic zirconia actually has a rating of 8 to 8.5. Moissanite is even harder than cubic zirconia, with a rating of 9.25.
So, it is true that there is almost no difference in the hardness of moissanite and diamond. However, cubic zirconia is still significantly softer than both moissanite and diamond. This means that cubic zirconia is more likely to be scratched or damaged by everyday wear and tear. Thanks for pointing that out!
How big of a moissanite stone is to big. I have a 7 kt. Asscher cut stone
It's totally up to your personal preference and what you want the overall design of the ring to be. That sounds like a beautiful ring! An asscher is a very classic choice.
Why have i never heard of this gemstone before -? Is this the new name of Cubic Zirconias -?
Hey! Nope - Moissanites are beautiful and unique gemstones that are harder and much more brilliant than cubic zirconia. At first glance, they look like a Diamond- but they give off much more “fire” and a rainbow-like sparkle.
@@faithfulplatformrings : I have Moissanite earrings from 7 years ago and they still shine beautifully. No one knows (not that I care anyway) if they're diamonds or not. They're in my ears and I don't have to explain to anyone what they are. Obviously, they are attracting attention if people are always commenting on them. Ever since I've learned about diamonds years ago, I said I would never spend another dime on them.
I say the same thing to everyone. Diamonds are not worth the money. You're really throwing your money away. If your significant other says "why didn't you buy me a real diamond", run.. a good woman would never say such a thing. She will be happy with whatever you pick for her. It could be a $100 gold plated moissanite ring, or a $10,000 diamond ring. Either way she should be happy. There are so many gems that are 1/100 the price of diamonds that are beautiful and at the end of the day, the ring symbolizes your relationship. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!

Yeah? Good luck finding a woman that will accept anything short of a diamond 👍
Do moissanite come with a report like from GIA or IGI?

Bought my wife a wedding set that in total cost was just above $12,000. For our anniversary she wanted a moissanite and prefers to wear that instead. 1) bcuz it’s actually prettier and 2) she’s not as afraid to wear it bcuz if something were to happen, losing $2000 is better than $12,000. We were actually looking to sell the wedding set, for a down payment on a “wedding” fishing boat. Lol! But quickly learned that the selling worth is ridiculously far less than what I paid for it. That’s with no financing costs being added bcuz I paid for it in cash!
Massive L bro
Lmao what a fool
Yes. It's all a scam that hinges on emotional manipulation. Sorry!
Ahm no. Normal people normally never see a 3 carat diamond so they can say: „Your stone looks like a fake diamond.“ We just don‘t have the reference point. Except jewellers and rich people.
The diamond tradition was started by De Beers anyway. It's as much a well embedded marketing ploy as coca cola making Santa's red suit.
Moissanite is shinier, cheaper, and tests positive on a diamond tester. Better by any meaningful metric
Wait really? Wtf buying moissanite from now on thank you
I will NEVER understand why people care about if other people think their jewelry is real or not lol. Do you like wearing it? Did you get it to fit your budget? If you answer yes to both, thats all that matters. The people worried about if your jewelry is real or not, are either brokies, or they bought so much real jewelry that they couldn't afford, and became brokies. If you like it....wear/buy it.
idk mane. diamonds are fire
Diamonds are a scam (they really aren’t rare at all) and moissanite has far more fire, brilliance, and sparkle. I’ve seen a side-by-side comparison in person and the moissanite is more beautiful by a long shot.
You just said diamonds aren’t rare but are trying to encourage someone to buy a diamond
It's not true that diamonds have forever been the standard in the USA.. it's more like about 100 years. Before that people wore all different kinds of gems, including diamonds but also other stuff.
Why not unique to moissanite cuts? Cut them in a way that clearly shows them as moissanite, and optimizes their rainbow spectrum.
Don't understand why moissanites have to be cut to look like diamonds.
Because the people who make moissanite diamond jewelry are trying to cater to buyers who want to diamonds but can’t afford earth mined or lab grown diamonds and they give moissanite diamonds a more flashy sparkle to it probably because they think someone who can’t afford lab grown or earth mined diamonds more likely then not would be interested in their diamond have a bigger bling bling to it
Woman here. When I learned about lab grown diamonds and De Beers, I would rather have semi-precious stones for rings. i'll get a diamond grown from my pet's ashes, would mean a lot more.
Check out how Debeers convinced the world that diamonds are rare and thus super expensive. Do research on it.
Still not sure what I bought. But it's definitely too big to set.

Moissanite shines much better. Diamonds just cost more depending on clarity.
one reason i don't like moissanite.
'oil slick'
.
I just looked up prices of moissanite rings on Charles and Covard and a decent size round stone ring was 3k. I just bought a lab grown real diamond in 3 ct size for $4700. H color Vs2 triple excellent. Large moissanite is not cheap
You don't need Charles and Covard, you pay for the brand. There are beautiful moissies on the market made in China and India. I bought a 14k gold ring with a 5ct noissie from China, custom made in and etsy shop for £700. Amazing quality. Now even TJC sells moissanite jewellery for £70-400 in gold and silver. I got a silver ring from them cushion cut 4.5 ct moissie and a gold one art deco in gold with an emerald cut and halo. Both stunning.
Hey there! We'd love to help you find an affordable large moissanite stone that fits your budget. Just let us know what you're looking for by filling out our free quote form and we'll be in touch soon! bit.ly/41TsujF
Will moissanite pass a diamond tester ?
Hey there! Most diamond testers work by measuring the electrical conductivity of a material. Since moissanite is electrically conductive, it can sometimes give a positive reading on a diamond tester, which could be misleading. Therefore, using a diamond tester alone is not a reliable method for determining whether a stone is a moissanite or a diamond.
If you want to be certain whether a stone is a diamond or a moissanite, you should have it examined by a qualified gemologist or a diamond grading laboratory. They can perform more precise tests to determine the stone's identity.
I’m stuck in the diamond mindset…I need help

Moissanite is less expensive for a reason.
I just went to a jewelry store and I know their "diamonds" were actually moissoinite. I hate the extra sparkle and non diamond colors it gives too. I prefer the diamond.
Buy what you can afford. Moissanite is a gemstone in its own right, its not a counterfeit diamond.
If you buy moissanite for moissanite, not for a "fake diamond", then the bigger the better ;)
Moissanite doesn't come with a misleading cost of a diamond
I wanna throw rainbows!!
Diamonds cool but I prefer moissanite
Moissanite is great!
