  • In this Lauren B educational episode we give you the full breakdown on moissanites as well as several moissanite vs diamond comparisons. Here are some key points to consider while watching this video:
    Moissanite is a man-made gemstone made to simulate the visual properties of a diamond in terms of the shapes they are cut into, and its sparkle and brilliance.
    Unlike diamonds, moissanites are usually referred to in terms of their MM measurements and then given a carat equivalent based on that
    In terms of clarity, almost all moissanites are flawless.
    Moissanite is priced very differently than diamonds and are about 80 to 90% less expensive
    Charles & Colvard and Harro are the two major manufacturers and each one has its benefits
    Telling the difference between a diamond and a moissanite is not as easy as it sounds; watch this video to find out some giveaways and also what can make them look more similar

      Yes and no, one just couldn’t afford to pass off to those who know that it’s a diamond. So for newly weds, especially more posh newly weds in certain social circles you can imagine how embarrassing it would be to be called out when trying to pass off a moissanite as a diamond. Granted I fully agree that the moissanite is its own unique stone with a beauty that rivals even the best cut, clarity and colorless diamonds. Especially for the price.

      @@arabbit9396 yes, but unless you are comparing a diamond of the same cut, clarity and color, side by side (which how many times do you really think that scenario will happen) it would be very ballsy to just "call someone out" I've seen some of my friends sporting a nearly 2 carat diamond surround by 0.5 carat stones of eternity bands and they live on one salary (teacher's salary). I could tell the gemstone appeared to be moissanite but even though I've own my moissanite for over 10 years, I'd never have the balls to call them out. What If I'm wrong, what if it was a family stone handed down and they were then able to put the ring budget all into the band. You just never know so it's always best to just not say anything. And if you're the person to call someone out, that looks bad on you not the ring wearer. When I was gifted my moissanite, I researched it and found what its qualities were so im assuming most women gifted their engagement/anniversary bands would be also. They'd already know ahead of time and would even challenge someone who questioned them.

    Saying Moissanite is a fake diamond makes no sense 🙄 they are their own stone, it’s just us humans who put this superficial value on the diamond. In an alternate universe or a different time a moissanite could be valued more than a diamond. It’s all marketing anyways. Hahaha some people just are sold on the idea of having diamond I guess, I’ve asked my boyfriend to get me a moissanite in an engagement ring for when the time comes because I think for a diamond the price is just not worth it at all. I hope you two are doing well!

      @@mandobando5998 what makes it fake is that most people buy it to pass it off as diamonds and have no intention of telling people it’s not a diamond either because they want credit for buying a diamond without actually spending for one. the stone isn’t fake, but the way people use it makes it that way. nothing wrong with that either, as we use cz to give a diamond look without spending much and we all understand its it’s own stone.

    Exactly this is what I’ve never liked how they say “moissanite can be an alternative to a diamond” because Moissanite is its own unique gemstone yes I do understand that it has and comes close to being a diamond which is why it’s called “lab created diamond” but I feel the moment we stopped with the stigma of comparing it to a diamond the better off we will be in not having second thoughts on it or like he said calling it as something fake because it is not fake.

    either way you don't get back what you paid for when it comes to diamond. IT has to be like the diamond from harry Winston or SOME really really famous place, considerable side clarity, but if you've paid $15000, for a ring even $35 thousand, you will not get anything near what you paid. Just like a car, AS soon as the ring leaves the jewelry store the value is less than 20%. I've spoken to many jewellers who have confirmed this before. The markup on diamonds is like 3000% their true value. To get your money back usually you have to go through a private estate sale that will find a very specific buyer otherwise you are stuck with thousands of $ of loss.

    • @elroyjetson6306
      @elroyjetson6306 4 роки тому +12

      I mean your always going to have to pay for labor and the jewelers overhead for the storefront . That’s how they stay in business if they sold gold and diamonds for the price they pay it would be impossible to make money. But your right anyone who thinks buying jewelry as an investment is an idiot. They are luxury items for “showing off “ part of the appeal is that people think diamonds are so “rare” and “valuable” the jewelrs are like artists in a way though setting diamonds is a royal pain in the ass especially on anything with a pave setting .

    You keep saying “it’s not a ‘fake diamond’ it’s its own beautiful gemstone,” but throughout the whole video you’re comparing the two, and showing ways to mask the fact that it’s a moissonite with halos or double halos, or which cut people would least suspect to be a moissonite, and make people think it’s a diamond. Just sounds slightly counterproductive.

      Lab diamonds are better than mined for two reasons: they are more affordable & you will get a perfect diamond almost every time due to such a controlled environment. They of course need picking through since some of them do not grow like they should; this applies to mined diamonds too.

    • @user-ht9oc7gw1f
      @user-ht9oc7gw1f 2 роки тому +1

      they already work with lab diamonds. Lab diamonds will give an exact diamond look than moissanite will because they are made to replicate natural and are grown in a lab through the same process that would occur naturally with the same composition. they are more affordable, however, there is zero prestige factor and they have zero value just like a moissanite and cz. so if the look and low price is all that is important then it’s a great choice.

    you could have mentioned that moissanite also grows naturally. 90-95% of them grow in meteorites and the rest only grow in one part of the world witch I don't remember. but moissanite sounds better than being completely synthetic.

    • @tranquility9325

    I just received my bridal set moissanite. It's 2ct. Custom made from England. It's also a foreverone stone that came with authenticity certificate bar coded card.
    24k gold band setting. It's gorgeous! It's very sparkly. I got a crushed ice cushion cut. It cost around 1200 for the set. Forever one stones are superior in my choices if you are looking. High quality.
    I can get hints of the difference in colors here and there... but the yellow reflections are mixed in and you can't tell because I got the gold bands anyways. So I only see hints of blue here and there. My fiancé's first wife who cheated on him had him buy her this 25k diamond ring set and he is almost just recently paid that off! It's ridiculous. And look how that marriage ended! It's not about money. Tbh these days... unless you're seriously making a ton of money and can blow it on a ring... I would feel bad walking around with a car on my finger. Use the money on a house and travel!!! My mother is giving my my aunts family heirloom real diamond I could have chosen to replace and use if I wanted... but it wouldn't be from HIM and I love him so I wear it proudly and I'm happy with it honestly. 😊

      No, they are very hard and high on the moh scale. They are just behind diamonds. The reason things like CZ get cloudy is because over time they develop small cuts that then collect different particles and substances. Tho, like I said, moissanite is very strong and will only scratch when rubbed against another moissanite or a harder gem like a diamond.
