    i like to use flour and water as the glue, just to avoid harmful chemicals on my seedlings. :)

      I use little dabs of my feces. It's very sticky and provides organic fertilizer to the seeds when they sprout.

    Much better than commercial seed tape. The last one I bought had seeds far too close together and wasted 3-4 seeds where one would do.

    I usually put three or four different seeds on a tape. So, it's a mix tape.

    My concern is the glue, , you used white polyvinyl glue that hardens into a plastic when dry, and if it covers the whole seed they would be encapsulated in the glue and may not break through. Some people make a glue with flour and water wich seems safer, just saying, hope I'm wrong.

    Food for thought, could you substitute the glue for honey if you was gonna use the seed tape right away? Is it true that honey has benefits for seedlings? I am gardening more than ever! Been outside harvesting Oregano, planting tomatoes, marigolds, and petunias. Then, dehydrated my Oregano! ❤it!

    Hello, I have a question, does the glue harm the seeds ? I think on trying it with herb seeds, what do you think ?

    • @gardenanswer
      @gardenanswer  9 років тому +17

      Cristina Rf Hi Cristina! The glue doesn't harm the seeds, they come right up without any problems! I think it would work great for herbs! If you would like more of an organic approach, you can make your own 'glue' by dissolving 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch in 1 cup of boiling water, and stir until it thickens. That works equally as well! Thanks for the question! ~Laura

      I'm thinking that the glue may harm the seeds in some cases. I tried this with parsely seeds and they never sprouted.

      Some people have health issues that keep them from getting down on the ground and trying to space out tiny seeds.... and then coming back out to thin in a couple weeks.
      She's making it as easy as it should be.

      I have an autoimmune disease that makes it hard to get and stay down on my knees. Setting seed tapes down and burying them is so much easier than trying to space out tiny seeds. And then you're back out in a couple weeks thinning them out.....

      The amount of “chemicals “ in the 1 spot of white glue compared to the car exhaust we breathe each day is minimal.
