- You could totally purchase seed tape conventionally, OR in less than an hour you could prepare and "pre thin" hundreds of carrots by making your own carrot seed tape. Saving you hours in the summer heat thinning your carrot crop.

Perfect, Emily! I've been trying to figure out things the neighbor kids can help in my garden with that doesn't require too much oversight, so I'll be trying this week with all our carrot and radishes.
It really is a great activity! Saves time and saves the wind from blowing your seeds away! Perfect for kids! They could even spell something out in the garden with it!
@@heartysol I think I'm going to add a drop of food coloring to the 'glue' as well for each set of seeds, so I can show them how to interplant all the little root veggies

This is great! I hate thinning carrots! We harvested about 200 carrots (small raised bed) this year (two plantings). How do you store your carrots over the winter? We just washed and put this last crop in mason jars with cold water, keeps them crisp.
We have stored ours in a bin of dirt in our cool dark basement.
The music overwhelms the speaker
Thank you so much for the great idea! I haven't had much luck with carrots so far but maybe this will change that. Do you have any tips for gerninating and keeping them from drying out in the beginning? I can't seem to find the right combination of protection from drying out and getting them the sun as soon as they germinate.
I like to place some clear plastic tucked into the soil overtop if the row until I see green come up.
