Manual with this kind of steering is impossibile to manage. You will kill yours self at the first hole. This car is very sensible. Dry dual clutch is good in manual. In automatic nope. And the microphone don’t keep it super well because is very deep.
I think what you are describing is a better looking Porsche. If you want a Porsche, buy a Porsche. The 4C is an Alfa. No other manufacturer has built a car quite like the 4C. It is a rather unique car, "a mini supercar for the masses", as one reviewer aptly called it.
never understand why people run road cars with a race set up in Britain. we have very uneven roads and the lack of suspension travel just makes your car handle worse for the road surfaces. we dont have enough smooth big roads to enjoy that type of setup. that's why a subaru sti is faster than most cars down a British b road..... suspension travel......
Now sir, i Will admit i have not seen, the video per writing this down, please hear me out. Imagine now that alfa had gone too Honda and put that k24 engine in it. That would have been amazing

The British will always hate the 4c for being a prettier and meaner Lotus. As a mater of fact all the American journalists that have negative reviews of the 4c are Lotus owners. Ironic
These were beautiful looking cars and should have been a real hit. The high price and cheap interior put me off. I could live with the engine and I could accept the interior but paying that much for something that felt like a Fiat Punto inside was ridiculous regardless of the external style. For all this looked much nicer than a Boxster or Cayman it was nowhere near as good and wasn't cheap.
@Antonio Farina i think one of the problems for this car in the end was that it was neither a pared down track car nor a daily driver, being compromised in both respects. Porsche biased the Boxster to practical daily use, cars like the Lotus Exige make few compromises to daily use but are very performance focused, the 4C seemed to be somewhere in between. Even in a pared down track car people tend to have certain expectations for perceived quality at this price point. Basic and no frills is not the same as cheap feeling. Mazda can make a very pleasant interior for the much cheaper MX5.
The North American version of the 4C has a very nice interior indeed, with stitched leather dash and door panels, a digital instrument display, Alcantara and leather seats and lashings of carbon fibre everywhere. As to build quality, I can only say it is outstanding. I've owned Fiats before, and my 4C is in another league altogether. It's virtually hand assembled by Maserati, and the care taken in construction shows.
Seriously, why would a real driver want power steering. It’s like preferring paddle shift to a stick. If you find the steering in an Alfa too much work, get a Corolla.
Not available in the US.....and it is at least double the price over a 4C. I like the Exige Cup cars but they aren't price competitive with a Porsche and the Porsche is faster and a better car (and I am not a Porsche fan).
The 4C IS nice, but it needs work to fix the handling. But even then the stock Elise is better. It's much sturdier on the road and isn't at all twitchy like the 4C.
Ross Tarran so he would know better right? the car displayed (very poorly) in this video has an aftermakrket exhaust and it does sound like shit compared to the original one
I have never got this car..It seems you are paying a lot for a carbon tub, and a tiny engine, and poor interior. If the car was not right as standard it defo wont be right modifying...Better cars at this price point
I'm not saying you should change your opinion, if you don't like the car it's fine but there's something really cool about a lightweight sports car, 250hp~ is plenty when it weighs in at less than a tonne. You need to drive one to see 😊 Plus it helps that it makes silly noises and in most people's eyes it looks very pretty too.

The real question, this or an exige/evora?
How about someone who had both Exige and 4C both modded....my neighbor and fellow 4C owner.....the 4C is the better car.
this :D
It's really hard to understand how those people running FCA think. They'll approve a project to build a whole new sports car with a bespoke carbon fiber chassis, take two years to set it all up before production starts, and then when it's time to put some interior trim on it and tune up the suspension and whatnot they just go "eh, it's good enough".
All of these automotive "journalists" whinging about the tramlining are wusses. If they would actually fully load the suspension in a corner they would see the brilliance in it.
So you fully load the suspension every corner then?
@@JayEmmOnCars nah, just most corners ;) Let me know if you ever come to Texas. Would love to take you on one of the "Britalia" drives we have. Alfas and Lotus tearing up the B roads, as you'd call them.

So this or the ALPINE 110 ??? And or same question in relation to the standard stock 4C ?
100k+ subs?! Didn't notice sadly, but well done!
I would only change the steering geometry, interior design, seats and lights. Thats the only thing that needs changing for road use. Its perfect for the track though
The interior is no worse than a Lotus Evora and that costs 90k.....it's still gopping though
The North American versions of the 4C came with a full leather interior with contrast stitching plus an optional carbon fibre package which makes the interior feel as special as the rest of the car. It's too bad the Brit/Euro versions didn't get the same treatment.
The howl during acceleration is indeed terrifying.
The car sounds broken. Not normal noises to be coming from a turbo.
Very critical review, perhaps shortsighted in the fact the owner has one of the most magnificent modifies machines ever created… great video, if only there was less talking more of the stunning 4C 😆 In all seriousness good video, however I feel you needed more time with the car 🚘
He's a Lotus Laddie, not an Alfista.
I often wonder what people who do those own as a car and what are their driving qualifications - former F-1 I don;t think !
Two feet, two hands, two eyes, one brain. All you need.
Before complaining about how the 4c drives, you should drive it how is supposed to be driven: Hard.
Driving this car as you are going to the grocery store and complaining about the noise and the gearbox, is well, a non sense. This is NOT what this car was built for.
Also complaining about the interior, who fu@@ing care so much about the interior in a car that is all driven focused?
Does the Elise or the Exige (or even the Evora) have a nice interior?
Absolutely no, and no one cares because it's not that the reason you buy these types of vehicles for.
Exactly! it's a sports car with no creature comforts. Its HARDCORE. Not for Bitches and Hoe, get it if you looking for an affordable italian sports car. This 4 cylinder engine puts out HP
Wow...
So I'm guessing that at 6'6" I'm not fitting in one of those!

6’1” so I can’t really talk. But I have loads of head room in mine. Don’t forget that the seats are fixed. But if you remove them you can adjust them with the side screws and gain a few inches of room from factory. The steering wheel can also take shims to move it up.
@@mitchellkohrmann have you done this to yours? I would buy one in a heartbeat if I fit 🤞
@@tootalltodrive I have. It’s honestly a must do and it’s super simple. I went from barely being able to fit at my height to having about 4 inches of head room and 5 -6 inches of leg room. It’s also my favorite all around car out of many supercars I’ve owned. Super theatrical.
It sounds horrible like metal on metal screeching like the turbo blades are scraping the housing on full boost.

I recommend Alfa to sell the 4c as a kit car, leave buyers to choose their own engine and gearbox.
good one. although this engine has a lot of character too :)
I love the look of the 4c and the idea of what they were trying to achieve but they missed it so badly. They should have put a standard 6 speed with the engine sitting the proper direction. I'm not sure what they did to the engine but it sounds worse than a Yugo. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Manual with this kind of steering is impossibile to manage. You will kill yours self at the first hole. This car is very sensible. Dry dual clutch is good in manual. In automatic nope. But it is amazing going up and down with this baby after the tuning. About sound check the video of Scara with Titanium exhaust. Sound is really really good. And the microphone don’t keep it super well because is very deep.
I think what you are describing is a better looking Porsche. If you want a Porsche, buy a Porsche. The 4C is an Alfa. No other manufacturer has built a car quite like the 4C. It is a rather unique car, "a mini supercar for the masses", as one reviewer aptly called it.
imagine an 8500rpm 2L V6 and manual gated box
You’ve been watching too much Jeremy Clarkson 🤪
Sounds like the car had a modified air intake too?
It did....I have a 4C but not a fan of that particular intake....too loud and irritating to the driver and passenger on a longer trip.

never understand why people run road cars with a race set up in Britain. we have very uneven roads and the lack of suspension travel just makes your car handle worse for the road surfaces. we dont have enough smooth big roads to enjoy that type of setup. that's why a subaru sti is faster than most cars down a British b road..... suspension travel......
I wish it came with a 6spd manual :(

The British will always hate the 4c for being a prettier and meaner Lotus. As a mater of fact all the American journalists that have negative reviews of the 4c are Lotus owners. Ironic
All that means is that they understand how a car like this SHOULD be executed. It's a prettier and WORSE Lotus, that simple
One man's opinion. There are many who own both and would disagree.@@JayEmmOnCars

For the money 4C + Upgrading... buy a EXIGE V6 instead.
It´s just better.
Exactly. Why even bother doing the upgrades. Just get the better package all together.
Not available in the US.....and it is at least double the price over a 4C. I like the Exige Cup cars but they aren't price competitive with a Porsche and the Porsche is faster and a better car (and I am not a Porsche fan).
The V6 Exige is quicker than the Cayman GT4. The Elise handles a lot better than the 4c and its a manual (and cheaper).
Elise it's a true drivers car (chassis wise). The 4C never convince.
The 4C IS nice, but it needs work to fix the handling. But even then the stock Elise is better. It's much sturdier on the road and isn't at all twitchy like the 4C.
That exhaust sound is unfortunate
It weighs about 850 kilos , isn’t it dangerous to have 340 hp on a light weight cutie
Btw love Alfa’s from child hood ;)

I'm not saying you should change your opinion, if you don't like the car it's fine but there's something really cool about a lightweight sports car, 250hp~ is plenty when it weighs in at less than a tonne.
