  • How to easily clean and peel jicama in a couple of minutes.
Before starting, scrub your jicama well under running water with a vegetable brush to remove any loose dirt. Cut the root end off. Cut a couple of vertical notches in the skin starting where you cut the root off. Grab the skin and pull. It should peel off easily. Continue peeling off the skin all the way around. Use a paring knife to remove any bits of skin that didn’t come off. Your jicama is clean and ready to be sliced. Let us know if you have any questions about preparing jicama.

THANK YOU so much! I am a native Russian living in New York, bought jicama for the first time in my life. I’ve watched other UA-camrs peell it with knife - so much waste. Now I know how to properly pill jicama! Subscribed

Me too. I realized after the first swipe that my vegetable peeler wasn't up for the job and used a knife. Didn't realize how tough that peel was!

Thanks, super helpful! Do these get tougher the bigger they get? Bought one recently that weighed one pound and it seemed a bit tough (that was after peeling it!).

why the jicama i bought, although no visible molds or black spots or white spot or soft spots, the skin is dull like an idaho potato with thin covering of mud. my jicama has no mud, but the skin color is dull brown and matted in surface texture. after peeling, the flesh is not pearly white but slight brownish and it seemed more fibrous than normal. what is wrong. should i continue to eat them or throw them away ?

For keto add tequila and jose cuervo sugar free margarita mix to your jicama with a little Tejin chili powder man oh man is it good.
