- Reviving And DRIVING A 30 Year Old Kubota TRACTOR!!
#Kubota #KubotaTractor #KubotaService
This tractor is a Kubota L2050 from 1991. From the looks of it, it's been maintained pretty good. The oil level was full and the antifreeze seemed pretty clear but, anytime I acquire a new machine I really do want to give it a full service just to be sure. In this case I changed the oil with Shell Rotella T5 10W-30 and a WIX brand oil filter. I also changed the air filter with a WIX version and flushed the coolant system from the green stuff to orange DEXCOOL. I did some other things too but you'll just have to watch the video to find out more!

I would recommend greasing any grease zerks on there. Also, flush the whole coolant system until it runs clear before changing coolant types. Dexcool and the green coolant will create a mud/gel mixture
Old tractors still running is just cool.
I like how the exhaust dumps directly in front of your face to reduce your lifespan lmao 😂
When you put a tractor tire backwards you get more grip in some conditions .
I have seen it done often when i was a kid
Interesting! Thanks!
I suppose Polish folks used to own that! Nice catch on them tires....
You're channel is so refreshing man.. I've been a fan of the channel for a really long time... how humble you are makes this channel enjoyable to watch...
Sweet tractor. I have a 1977 Kubota L225DT and from the looks of it, your tractor has the exact same engine. Great tractors.
Turtle mode:R1, 1-4 gears: faster mode: R2, 5-8 gears. Awesome find and fix
Before you do anything else. Drain and flush the coolant immediately. You MUST get all green/blue antifreeze out before pouring in dexcool. It will clog up the system and radiator in no time if you dont.
Thats one of the reasons dexcool sometimes is called dexkill..
Can't wait to see some of your tractor projects
That's one cool little tractor Jimmy..👍👍
Hell yeah! More content material. Go Jimmy!
Great video, Jimmy!
You won't break a Kubota tractor, not even with a sledgehammer. Wix is an excellent filter manufacturer, they also make filters for Napa. Flush out the cooling system well if you are changing coolant types.
Enjoy the tractor, it will serve you well, and thanks again for this video!
Thanks! I may flush the coolant again just in case.
She's a beast😯
Excellent job with this video.
Enjoyed 👍👍
You should consider flushing and filling the hydraulics with a filter change.
Gotta learn about that first 🤷♂️
@@1RoadGarage no worries dude, I am just outside Clarksville, TN and have had a few tractors and have two now. Hydraulics are great back savers as well as useful tools but contaminated fluid can cost thousands in parts replacement as well as greatly reduced performance. Just a thought?
Hey Man. Cool video. I would love to own a tractor like that. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
Nice tractor 🚜.
looks like fun
Used to work on a farm in Orford, NH. One time a big thunder storm rolled in when I was out turning hay on the lower field with the old John Deere ( as in old in the early '70s). I put it in sixth gear or whatever high gear was and nearly crashed before getting stopped. I think it was highway gear.
Did you change the fuel filter?
Hey Jimmy lots of people run them backwards on the front because utility tractors get used in muddy and nasty spots alot so It supposed to give u better
Around 43.8hrs/Yr... And 5th-8th gears are for fast mode (rabbit)
Thanks for the calculation!
Kubota tractors are great, bought a new one in 2006,sold it in 2018 with our house and 15 acres, never had a problem, don't forget to change the fuel filter!! Enjoy your new toy!!
15 acres! Where at?
@@1RoadGarage east central Illinois, sold it so we could move to town and retire, was able to buy a house and pay cash no house payments!!
I have that too but that's different and that's for two gears that are connected to each other's species and it's also with that you hung slow
I picked up my first tractor at the end of last summer, similar to yours but it’s the larger version. It’s my first tractor as well. It’s a 1988 Kubota L2850 and is in really good shape.
Nice! This thing just keeps on ticking.
Nice little tractor! I didn't see a second video, so I really hope you heeded the advice others gave and completely flushed that coolant. I have not had great luck converting old "green" engines / radiators over to Dexkill. I hope you have better luck, it would be a shame if it sludged up on you. Also grease all the zerks and change the hydro fluid, and fuel filters would be recommended too. One other thing, I'd flip those tires so they are wider for a more stable stance, somebody turned them around to make them more narrow (and added washers to compensate for the rims being on backwards). On combines we always flipped the tires around like that because it was harder to get yourself buried, and easier to get yourself out of bad situations if you were working in wet conditions. Those Kubota's are stout little tractors for sure. :)
Nooice! 😎 STOC
Do they make them tractor thangs turbo charged? Make some room Jimmy, I’m gonna need one when we move out to TN!!! Yahoooooo
I’ve seen a dude in YT with a turbo in one!
Thank your lucky stars that u don't have to replace any of the hydraulics. Our Kubota is a 2001 i think. Have had to change 2 of them in last couple yrs, easy in theory but the but punch bolt things(not sure what there called) r stuck on big time. You'll need a 5lb sledge
Now you can get the tractor people. Farmers of this great land and the world.
You may have issues on the high bank of oval 3 at 9 MPH with the PB blaster on the wheel lug nuts causing a high speed wobble or slight vibration you should be able to correct this with extra duck tape on the lower rear fenders for lateral co dynamics. Please be extra cautious until the next pit stop to re toque the wheels. Great video and drive the kabota like you stole it.
Got it! 🤙
👑
You should always take off the oil filler cap prior to draining oil and filter.
Use low range for working and high for traveling. I have a L2350 4wd and use it alot
Now you have t service the hydraulics 😊 good buy
Check to see if the rad drain plug has a spout and will grain when the plug is only part way out.
Jimmy, I believe those front tires were on the correct side before you swapped them side to side, they were just on 180 deg from where they should have been. Tractors can be very dangerous! With the front wheels turned around you would have wider stance. Check the tires pressure and wheel lug nut torque often please, (don’t want to see you get hurt!). I doubt those flat washers and lock washers are supposed to be there.
Okay, I’ll look into it! 🤙🤙
Congrats on your 1st tractor, I just bought a Kubota L2350 myself.
I’m having to replace the clutch, because it seized up while sitting for some time.
I’d highly suggest you block the clutch pedal to prevent the clutch from seizing.
And make sure nothing is getting in the clutch area.
I was able to free mine with a flathead screwdriver through the little access door.
Your high low range lever should be by your left floor board Low range 1-4 and reverse 1 then high range gears 5-8 and reverse 2 also your pto probably has 3 speeds with I think 540 being the standard for most implements. I have one very similar and I really like mine
Is there a dip stick on this particular model to check oil level? Hard to locate
Man would you quit reminding me I'm turning 30 this year. I mean 29, turning 29 again. lol
Need to check hydraulic fluid and grease all the pivot points steering linkage there should be a few grease zerks.
Any more videos of the l2050
Can you do a hydraulic and fuel filter change?
you have a 4 speed time two. (High and low)
Ok when are the bib overalls coming?😋
Haha soon
or so to speak two speed blocks connected to have different speeds or more power at slow speeds
if u tourqe them down now worries... should always tourqe the bolts for wheels on your vehicle
I HOPE YOU READ COMENTS ON OLD VIDEOS! I have the same tractor loader and about the same tractor.... I need to seethe 3 point lift handle.... I lost something and it will not stay up... I have no way of knowing what is missing.... Maybe a video going over the whole tractor.....please
seafoam was made for Mari e motors... they just want some more product to. complete with lucas
I know I'm late but maybe next time remove radiator drain before removing radiator cap. I think it would help your water gun situation. 🔫 nice content I'm subbed.
Traction when in 4x4 in reverse hope it helps ..
Magnets are on the hydraulic filters, suppose to be changed every 600 hr-ish.........
1300 hours is very young.
You have a two range transmission hi and low 1 in low 5 in hi you have it figured out just saying for someone who might not know
I got 43.8 hours Jimmy.
Flip your wheels around for a wider, normal stance. Safer on hills. Someone turned the front tires/wheels around, this is why the tread was reversed. Should have just flipped the wheels instead of rotating them. The wheel dish should face out. It can face in to give a narrower stance for clearance or row crops, etc. Same with the back, but they haven't been messed with
Dosent dexcool and the green stuff end up making gel??
True. But if you flush the system with distilled water before you change the color, you should be fine.
I’ll probably flush again…
Yes. You have to flush the system until it runs completely clear before you should change the coolant type
1300 hrs. Is just broken in for a Kubota tractor!
Anti-seize will protect the wheel studs.
I thought that was a big no no on wheel studs??
@@1RoadGarage The reason manufacturers do not recommend it is liability; i.e. - the budget tire shop that just impacts every lug on without due care. For people who use a torque wrench, overtorquing scenarios are grossly exaggerated. Wet torque/dry torque figures are usually within 20% of each other - far less than the multiple you'd need to overtighten a fastener to actually start doing damage by overtightening.
If the choice is between galling threads on already heavily rusted/corroded studs or using a small amount of anti-seize, I know what I'm choosing. Just be smart and keep it on the threads, off the mating faces, and stick to consistent torque values.
I am surprised that you could move that tractor
9:03 ; Because Antifreeze is considered HazMat and most auto shops don't take it back.. where does everybody go to recycle Antifreeze?
Edit: He also forgot to bleed the rad. Probably some massive air bubbles in there they need to be vented.
If its 4wheel drive the tires are the wrong way for grip
i think the rabbit and turtle are more of your High and Low
next time... not fill. all way to top... run engine with cap off to get to operate temt and then let air bubbles come to top and the top off
you need to check if that engine can use dexcol... that's for cars... not tractor
I would also flush the hydraulics and replace the filter. Life is good....living in Tennessee with land and a Kubota! Be careful if you have any major slopes on your land.
