Just went it for an oil change and they recommended changing the shocks and struts since there were bumps in the struts. They quoted me just over 2k to replace all of them on my car, but after watching this I’m thinking my car is just fine.

At 100-120k miles, it's a good idea to replace the shocks, struts, strut mounts, strut bearings, nuts for the mounts, OEM rubber strut/shock components if you want to prevent squeaks, and it's a good idea to have the foam bump stops on hand as they often need to be replaced. The metal washers and spacers can be reused, and the protective boots can be reused if in good condition. If the coil springs don't show visible signs of stress/failure near the top or bottom, they can be reused. If a strut/shock needs to be replaced before 75k miles, I would probably reuse the mounts/bearings. Aftermarket strut mounts/bearings might not be as good as buying OEM for some vehicles, although I'm sure some people haven't had an issue with aftermarket ones.

Im about to take my 09 f150 for some brand new shocks and suspension, but my neighbor had it worse. He tried to drive away from a steep short driveway but his back wheel was grinding hard in the wheel cowl...there was no support left! It was quite a show seeing him slowly realize it wasnt something he was rolling over, but that his wheel just wasnt rolling! Never let it get that bad..

Hey guys, cheers for the videos helped me so far.
But I'm in a 99 n15 nissan pulsar and have replaced my original doors with doors with power windows. The wires run go the harness and plugs that go to my door, and there is a fuse in the engine bay but I can't move the windows. They don't seem to be receiving power. And chance you guys could do a video on how to wire up power windows?

Is it normal to have some difference when it comes to the wheel-to-fender gap? I have a 2017 Honda HR-V that I use as my daily and that I recently had suspension parts replaced (including tie rod ends, rack ends, lower control arms and ball joints, shock absorbers) and I only just noticed (after 7 years lol, not really sure if this was a problem before) that the left side has a shorter wheel-to-fender gap compared to the right side. The difference at the front is around 1/4 inch or 6.35 mm and the rear is around 1/8 inch or 3.175 mm from my measurements. For the record, the car rides relatively fine after the replacements.

Maybe you don't know the answer ourselves and that is why you didn't tell us, or maybe you are just oblivious, but here it goes. We all know how to check a shock, but nobody ever talks about the big coil spring itself. Provided it is in great cosmetic condition, no pits, smooth and shine, nothing broken. Do they still get old or fatigued internally? it is steel, answer if you know. If you don't know please just admit it and don't bother with double talk.
