- 25g Unsalted butter

How did you make the potato dough? I tried to make this but the dough was so sticky that it came apart when i tried to cut it into sticks after taking it out from refrigerator. Please tell what mistake did i make. I really want to try this again

My daughter made this tonight for supper and she was so proud of herself she’s only 15 and she isn’t much for cooking but she absolutely love these and my husband was trying to steal everyone’s and eat them himself and he’s quite the connoisseur so for him to make such a big deal they were very very good

we call them "raspatat" they've been normally sold at snackbars in the netherlands (though home made like your's are looking better) they are made with powdered potatoes then combined with water while being pressed out a machine ready to be fried

hello!! ive been doing these potato sticks as a midnight snack for sooo long, delighted to see nino sharing the recipe with you guys!
heres some times for it tho cause it can get a little tricky to cook:
1. the way i do it is to make it midnight-snack friendly. peel the potato and then cut it into cubes. then put it in a bowl of boiled water and microwave it for 5 mins (or until u can mush it with a fork). then i take it out, drain the water, and mush every potato cube, it doesnt have to be smooth just a little mushed. then i put mozzarella cheese and microwave it till melted and mix. add salt or any other preferred spices and mix. add cornstarch and mix/knead it in till its a proper dough you can hold in your hands. then do everything that was done in the video after that =^w^=.
2. its best to cut the pieces into kindof thin slices because it puffs up when cooked
3. preheat your oil, and once you put the sticks in the oil leave it alone, it might stick to the bottom of the pot a little bit but once it starts cooking itll float, you might have to push it a little in the bottom for it to unstick but only do that when its golden brown.

Here are some tips for those who are not pro cooks and need a little extra help- I kinda find this video pretty vague lol and I feel like he could be skipping steps.
-Season the paste! I feel like it is super flavorless, it tastes a lot like flour (I used the measurements properly) put some salt in there or other spices if you don’t like flat food.
- When you make the mash make sure that the mash is as smooth as possible, this is because it will break less when you make the cuts for potatoes.
- if your potatoes go too dry and aren’t as wet as the ones in the video add a little water (probably milk could work too) just add a little at a time, this will give a better consistency and help when you add the starch.
- LEAVE THE PASTE FOR LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES ON THE FREEZER. I left mine for 30, if your paste is too soft and warm then you’ll end up not having long sticks like the video and it will be a mess when you try to fry them. If it breaks anyways you can do smaller potatoes, make sure they are thin though.
- Don’t preheat the oil for too long- set it at medium and wait a bit. Try a little on the paste in the oil- if it bubbles then it’s ready. If it’s burning the potato seconds after you place the piece then turn down the heat a little.
- Oil will keep cooking the potatoes even after you take it off the oil, keep that in mind.
- For the sauce make sure the pot never gets too hot unless you want curled sauce.

@@kyonamugench. You can choose any cheese that you have that can be melted like mozzarella, Monterey jack,etc. I tried this recipe with mozzarella and it was awesome. As for the potatoes, any type will do.

What a crispy potatoes sticks! I like you put the mashed potatoes into plastic bag and press it into flat pieces in order to make it into stick. Also I like the garlic sauce. Thank you for your beautiful cooking video.
you can also add milk and butter to the mashed potatoes to make them smoother and creamier.

i made this recipe yesterday, and while i cant say i managed to do it entirely correctly, they turn out really good!! i decided to refrigerate half of the potato dough so i could have some more today, and it was still good!!! super recommend this!!
EDIT: i decided to make them again because they were delicious the first time, and despite having to evacuate the kitchen twice due to smoke they are yummy regardless!! fail proof id say
Just doing my batch right now for the first time and whiles mines too don't look exactly the same they taste great I am just not sure if the insides fully cooked but all in all great recipe.
You can freeze the dough after first freezing and cutting it into strips. Lay them separately in the freezer for few hours till solid, then pack them into a bag and use as needed. Tossing them frozen into the oil will actually develop a nicer texture, since the inside will need a bit more time to come to temperature, making the inside fluffier with crispier skin. The only downside is that due to lower temperature, you should fry them in smaller batches. Also - use the starchiest potatoes you can find. Those waxier ones don't come out good.

@I AM it's possible that there was some enhancement to the sound to increase the appeal, if that's what you meant. I think that's the goal of these videos' appeal, though. The sound of their crunchiness is much louder and more defined when you're the one eating it versus hearing someone else bite into it.
Plus, people love ASMR. These videos really accentuate that aspect.
