- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- For this video I have a true space legend with a vintage Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute watch. This watch was worn in 1962 on board the Mercury Atlas 7 space mission. It was the first Swiss watch in space. I am going to do a quick restoration on this historical vintage watch from Breitling

I got mine in 2001. Passed it on to my daughter a couple of years ago. Sent her this video so she could get an appreciation for all that is in it.
👍
The Breitling Cosmonaut - a masterpiece.
Yes it is
Man. I can never get over how many parts there are in a watch. Still they almost never break. It’s just unbelievable.
On a chrono it is a lot of parts.
I like this space timepiece watch great watch very nice. ❤😊🤩☺️🤗💯👍
Thank you
Spectacular watch.
Thanks 😊
Love the 24 hour dial on this beauty.
It is nice
Nice video and content 👍👍
👍
Breitling should re-do this watch with a case-back display, what a beautiful movement, matches the busyness of the dial.
That is a very good idea
Wow, this is a real beauty. 😃 When I saw LIP I just knew this was a special one too. 👍
Thank you so much!
Very busy movement great work
Yes it was
beautiful watch!!!
It really is!
Perfect and a another great restoration. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you Bruce
Um relogio classico. Bonito ver este velho cosmonaute voltar a rodar macio no ritmo preciso. Um video riquissimo para amantes de contadores de tempo. Muito obrigado.
Definitely a refinished dial but an awesome watch nonetheless.
another great service, keep it up!
Thank you
Im surprised that there is no gasket between the bezel and the case. Gorgeous Breitling and nice video!
It is not a watch made for diving but yes the protection is not the best
Merci
7:50 "with the hour indicator" ...
hopping one day seagull will release a cheaper version of this movement with this complication (8:30) in the ST19xx series ...
10:20 the click spring is different on the ST19xx ... as one of their failing parts🤣
Yes not the same type of movement. Not the same era.
Superbe montre j’adore ces vieilles Breitling, beau boulot et belle vidéo ça fait plaisir👌🏻⏱️🚀
Merci Romain
That's the first one I've seen with the 24hr hour hand. I prefer the smaller size compared to the massive size of some of today's chronographs. Beautiful. The single hole strap is a nice touch also.
The 24 hours dial is very unique
Superbe. C'est là que l'on se rend compte qu'une complication porte bien son nom !
Et encore il y'a bien plus complexe
Fantasic video, is that a ETA 7750?
No it is a Venus 178
23:10 Grease is used in areas of high Pressure, not high friction.
Main bearings in a jet turbine have a lot of friction, they use thin oil.
Cams and levers in the keyless section of a wristwatch operate under high pressure, and use grease.
You are right
Do you service quartz movements as well?
No sorry
Hi what tool is the stick that you hold springs down it looks nice.
It is a probe tool from horotec
Scott Carpenter's Navitimer does still exist, it is just totally corroded inside. There is some promo video from Breitling here on youtube that shows the watch. Just search for "Breitling | Navitimer Cosmonaute - Original Piece".
Thanks for the info
would you consider using ultrasonic cleaning bath?
For case parts yes
@@FrenchWatchCollector Yes, i saw you did later in the video. So i'm assuming that ultrasonic is too harsh on the smaller watch parts, right?
@@brololler yes it is right
Great Video. Merci. Did you reduce the play in the mainspring arber, or center wheel? Or wasn't it needed? And does it make sense to put the watch on the TimeGrapher to check beaterror and amplitude before you assemble the chronograph parts?
Beautiful timepiece and background history.
I did not reduce the play because it was not needed on this watch. Yes I put it on the timegrapher before but I don't always put it in the video
you think this movement will be more difficult to service in a future regaridng parts availability?
For sure with time it will be more and more complicated like older calibers
Is this watch for sale on your website?
Sorry no. It was the watch somebody send me o my website for a service. It is not for sale but I have other Omega for sale on my website with one very similar
Ha ha 1st, rest after I watched the video.
Really complicated, lovely watch and the build quality seems top notch, but it's not for me personally, I like a simple watch that you glance at and you can tell the time. Like the Rolex oyster perpetual date for example. You can just eare it and it's nothing fancy. But this one well I'd feel that I have to be careful with it all these extra bits and bops. I like that 24h display interesting.
It is a very different and unique watch
Can you tell me how you open the chronograph watch bezel. Use what kind of tools to remove it. My Tissot seastar 1000 bezel wants turning
Depending on the bezel. The cheapest way is to use a opening blade knife to lift the bezel
Pas de version française pour cette vidéo ?
Sur la chaine le calibre
That is one confusing clock... way too much stuff..
👏👍👌 but 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫. Why talk so much? 😩
You can cut the sound 😉
@@FrenchWatchCollector Yes, I can cut the sound, but some information on the watch that you give is really cool. What I do not like is the many repetitions that you seem unaware of. Again and again you tell us the same things. Since you do talk-over, maybe you just should listen to yourself and cut down on endless repetitions.
