I have one of these Hunter solus rifles but would like to lighten it up a bit. What proof barrel contour did you guys use and did you have to do any inletting of the factory stock? Also did you use Origin prefits or send them to a smyth to have the work done? Thanks
Definitely waiting for their lightened hunter carbon rifles. Not sure if I'll go long or short yet. I was set on a Bergara B-14 crest carbon, but seeing these, I'm gonna wait a bit longer and see how the carbon barrel solus compares.
Thank you for getting back to me. Is thinking about getting one. I have a 6 mm Remington a 7mm rem mag and want something in the middle. I am trying to decide between the 6.5 PRC or the 6.5 Weatherby RPM.
Great timing! I just picked mine up a few hours ago after waiting like 3 weeks becuse of this stupid 1 gun every 30 days law. I picked up the hunter version with the steel barrel in 6.5 PRC. Can't keep my hands off of it. I am liking it soooo much! I will break it in this weekend and see what it can do! Can't wait!

I’m looking forward to the lightweight version of the short action (fluted bolt, interrupted top rail). Planning on either building or buying a .300 WSM - I know it isn’t the flat shooter that the PRCs or SAUMs are, but that’s ok, I have a Weatherby for that!
Ever consider using suppressors? They change everything for shooting/hunting. You will probably never shoot unsuppressed again once you do. Cool to see people talking about Aero. The Solus action is becoming the default affordable custom action for those building on a 700 footprint. From everything I've heard they make good stuff.
@@PNWild Going to make a couple suggestions in case you're not that up to speed on current suppressor options. If you are, or already have a suppressor sponsor lined up, no offense intended. For max suppression either go TBAC Magnus (full length and not RR option) or an OCL Hydrogen-L. Nothing beats those two suppressors as far as pure suppression. If you care about length/weight then look at a shorter length Magnus, a Silencerco Scythe, or maybe an Abel Company Theorem. Dead Air had been good for awhile but they've undergone some concerning QC issues with their titanium suppressors coupled with bad customer service recently. TBAC did a mass test of a bunch of available suppressors last year, you can find it by searching "TBAC Silencer Summit". DO NOT go cheap on a suppressor. You cannot resell it (practically speaking) so it's basically a lifetime purchase. Lastly, when you buy your centerfire suppressor buy a rimfire one too (assuming you have a .22lr and do occasional shooting/small game hunting). The total cost of a rimfire suppressor will be about $600 including tax stamp for a very good one (TBAC 22-Takedown), it's the only suppressor that's "Hollywood Quiet" since the ammo is subsonic, and rimfire ammo costs nothing so you'll end up shooting 10x the rounds through it compared to the centerfire.
They do, except their bcg for ar15. Not sure if they outsource but lots of broken carriers. Beyond that.. their lowers.. uppers.. ba barrels and the action on the solus are solid af
Looking for some 7PRC or 300PRC but I rather wait for them to make a stable platform rather than rush them out in the lighter chassis that have not been built solid enough to handle them. Contacted Aero - there is a long action in the works but nothing available yet. Had terrible luck with boutique competitors stocks that work just fine in the lighter chamberings falling apart after a few hundred rounds of the heavier chamberings. Would love the 7PRC on a solus action with a Proof barrel 1LB trigger and a MDT ACC ELITE CHASSIS. That chassis is proven to take the recoil and wont strip retention screws in a sloppy proprietary folding mechanism when shooting a chambering with heavy recoil. .. cough cough $4500 Fierce Mtn Reaper.
We have been tossing around the idea of trying a can. Never have used one before. Ear plugs are a lot lighter than a suppressor and a brake is better on recoil.
Lol my main hunting can is 9 oz and especially with the brake on the end of the can you could barely tell the difference between the two. Ill never hunt without one let alone shoot a rifle without one, I can't imagine going hunting with earplugs now.

I noticed that you guys were not using Tikkas in the last couple videos including the fall bear 🐻 hunts. Those are great rifles but it’s nice to support local people like Aero Precision. I checked out the website and I wish they had a left hand action and a barrel in 300 WSM. Also a long action magnum like a 300 WM, 7 PRC or REM Mag, 300 PRC.
@@duckwacker8720 oh, you should have just written “I don’t understand internal ballistics” and left it at that. Now everyone thinks you and short mags have something in common.

They aren’t trying to make super light weight sheep hunting rifles, that’s the 1% of hunters or even .5% of hunters. A 9lb rifle is a very comfortable shooting rifle.
