Larry and I tried to catch some big bass on Golden Shiners while fishing off of a marina dock. There are huge fish in this area, and big fish always live near docks. There were cattails closeby, with hydrilla, and fishing with live shiners is a great option to catch these huge bass! Hope you enjoy the video! God bless!

Make you a floating bait basket with a lid to keep them more lively and if you're not fishing in current back hook them.

I've fished woth shiners in Florida. The key is to give them plenty of time to eat it. Wait till they tale the bobber down for at least a full 5 seconds. Especially on the big ones

You’re right. I was told by an old timer you gotta wait. Reason being the Bass will sometimes only put the shiner so far in their mouth because they will descale them a bit before swallowing them. Especially the big ones. I catch some huge wild shiners here in Florida and them big Bass go crazy trying to get ahold of them

Bigger hook, I had the same problem fishing with live bluegill, went to an 8/0 circle and havent looked back lol

try the circle hook through nostril to nostril next time and give him a second or two the fish your hookup ratio of go up tremendously remember always take a kid fishing

The only live bait i use is crickets. They work like a charm.
R.l. Hilburn Crickets are awesome bait. I caught my largest Smallie on a cricket.
They grab the shiners swim off then turn them head first, you have to wait a bit longer I think.

With an 8" bait, you've got to let them take it for a long time to make sure they have the hook in their mouth.
No doubt! A big bass will gulp it down quickly. May have been gar stealing the bait
@@FishingwithNordbye Yeah, there's that fine line between setting too early and waiting too long and they get gut hooked. They need quick strike rigs for shiners!
Dude, I have fished a lot with shiners in Florida, you need to wait until your bobber goes down and stays down before you set the hook. You are setting the hook way too early!
