Using "Burner Emails" for privacy (Hiding your real email address)

  • Email hygiene is often neglected by average internet users. Most do not consider an email address to be sensitive information. Using just one or maybe two email addresses across several websites is not secure practice. Doing so would make your email your weakest link. If your email is hacked its game over. Users could rather use burner emails to protect their privacy. It is something like an alias to your personal email. Any email you receive to your burner email address would be forwarded to your personal email address.

    Technicly Simplelogin, and anonaddy are not burner services, they are alias services, like for a real adress a P.O. box is, they relate the same to the main email account and address... they meant to be as permament as any other main email addres is.
    Borner emails are the ones, what by default live for limited time, 10 minutes, 1 hour, until the someone who uses them registers, and sends back the confirmation codes... even i saw burner SMS service, when you see telephone numbers on the top, ans all the messages on a site just roll down in plain text... if a number is blocked an other jumps in its place... the two mentioned service does not intended to used as the 2nd category.

    great video, I have a question how can you trust the annoemail is not give information to marketing gaint is that is open source or something else which is trust worthy

      Great question. Anonaddy states in their privacy policy that they do not store or read emails, nor do they sell our info to third parties. Also sensitive info like our email addresses are encrypted in their servers. Their website is also open source and available for anyone to view and audit.
      Now the above is true for anonaddy and whether you trust them or not is up to you. Secondly, it's always good if you read the privacy policy of companies that offer such services and do some research yourself, before you dive into using them.

    How many websites these days allow email domains like this?

    • @fourzerothree
      @fourzerothree  Рік тому

      Oh you could use them on any website, though I have very rarely encountered some websites that dont allow email aliases.
      I used to use Anonaddy when I made the video. But I have been using SimpleLogin now for quite sometime and it's very good.

      @@fourzerothree I think things might have changed a lot since you did it since hardly any websites these days allow emails that they would term "disposable" "throw away" "burner" or anything like that. Once upon a time you could use them for a lot but the internet changes. That's the nature of the beast.

      I till date use burner email aliases using simple login. I have had no issues. Also note that there is a difference between throw away email addresses and email aliases services like simple login. In fact, simple login has tie up with proton too.
