This is the last song on the album and if you listen to the whole album through Spectral Mornings is a perfect resolution to what comes before. It's a magical piece about what the rising of the sun means.
Start with Ace of Wands, the first song on his first album, Voyage of the Acolyte, and go from there.

Hey Buddy, great to see you've discovered Steve Hackett, what a magnificent piece, loved it when it was released in 1979 and love it even more now, this is the last track on the album of the same name, would suggest you have a listen to his wonderful debut album Voyage of the Acolyte from 1975 and one of his other classics "The shadow of the Hierophant" ua-cam.com/video/q7BbioqqyKE/v-deo.html All the best

There’s an incredible reworked version of this with vocals added by the late David Longdon (Big Big Train) and featuring Christina Booth and Rob Reed (Magenta) with Nick D’virglio (BBT) on drums as well as Steve. Look up Spectral Mornings 2015. It was done as a fund raiser for Parkinson’s disease.

His first solo album was Voyage of the Acolyte and is often called the missing Genesis album. Check out Shadow of the Hierophant from it. Watch the video with Nick Beggs sitting on the floor playing the bass pedals with his fists. Also, Steppes from the Defector album. He's still recording new music and touring. And he's a really nice guy. Thanks for this reaction and loving your channel. He is keeping the soul of early Genesis alive, and adding to it with his solo catalogue.

Just another genious from Genesis bro. He is all pure Genesis as Peter Gabriel! Do you know, separation is not separation, they are Genesis in own way, not something different ... this is the real magic, they are all the same!

Popenyco I don't know where you live but Steve Hackett is touring in the U.S. next year. Lots of dates, small venues, great band backing him up. Plays a lot of Genesis music that you've already commented on plus some of his own material. I highly recommend his show. Seen him four times and will see him again.

I know bands have to move on, but there in a nutshell (or a Spectral Morning) is what Genesis lost. Bands survive line up changes, but losing a genius is not something you fully recover from.

Great reaction to one of Steve’s best loved songs. I probably listen to Steve’s solo work as much as I listen to Genesis. Steve has been prolific over the years a much under rated guitarist and a genuine nice guy. I met him a few years ago on one of his many tours. You should definitely go and see him live, as his tours these days are 50% of classic Genesis tracks and 50% his solo material. His version of suppers ready I would argue is better than the original studio version. To show Steve can still write some amazing stuff, check out “on those golden wings” from his 2019 album ‘At the edge of light’,With lush orchestration, choir, 12-string and classical guitar supporting his lead vocals. The rhythm section of Nick D’Virgilio on drums and Reingold’s bass is particularly rewarding while Hackett offers the closing solo, that gives his solo in Firth of Fifth a run for its money. 11 or so minutes of prog perfection.

I played bass, piano, and sythesizers growing up and this is THE song that made me buy an electric guitar and learn it. I haven't played anything in years (you know, adulting) but I bet I could play this if someone handed me a guitar today, just because I practiced it so many times. If you haven't listened to Brand X, who Phil Collins played in, then you need to. Also Peter Gabriel's solo stuff is next level.

Yeah you'll notice that use different chords go with some Melodies they're not the usual chords that would go along with those melodies just wait until you hear clocks it's another really cool instrumental that hack it does you know it's amazing he did this one album I can't remember the name of it please don't touch or something it's a great album and it has what are two songs they got Richie Havens to sing and Richie Havens was the first guy to get up on stage at Woodstock just him and his guitar and let me tell you something he crushed it of course I wouldn't have to tell you that if you saw the performance you would already know who would be too obvious for me to say such a thing so you'll have to see Richie Havens at Woodstock I'm sure you can do it without getting blocked it'll blow your mind you know it's funny you're going to have to go back I would do the entire Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and just do four sides of that record maybe I don't know how to figure out where to start and stop because nowadays there are no vinyl records per se I love to do some research I don't have my record collection with me it's in storage in another state but anyway yeah I just wait till you do the Battle of Epping Forest I don't know if you've done Cinema show yet that's an amazing song and then it goes into Horn of Plenty he got to let it go all the way to the end because it comes back to the first team that starts the album in fact you might just want to do the very first song Selling England by the pound and then go right to cinema show and let it go all the way through to the very first song Selling England by the pound and then go right to cinema show and let it go all the way through to the end of the album and it'll make sense like that but yeah Battle of Epping Forest there you go yeah I actually got to talk to Steve Hackett after a show at this one Club it was called The Strand right there on Sepulveda and Palos Verdes Drive it was so cool that you would come out after the show and he talked all these guys almost took up too much of his time all the other fans were pissed at me and I walked away but I told him that he is so good I said you know if Jimi Hendrix heard you he would have thought I got to take some of his ideas because I said you're one of the few guitars to have actually taken the playing of the guitar do another level beyond what Hendrix had done which if you ever check out Hendrix you'll see what I'm talking about because when it all boils down to it he's still is what I consider the greatest guitarist ever walk on God's green earth I know they're crazy stories The Beatles came to see Jimi Hendrix and it was right after the Sergeant Pepper's just got released and of course Hendrix got that record me listen to it in the first song on the album he learned it that day and when the Beatles saw him he played their first song on that record which was called Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band he did such a good job with it so when the cameras are pointed at the Beatles they all look shell-shocked like oh my God who is this guy who this is motherfuker? Yeah everybody was blown away I guess I was too but I was right there I ate it up I was only 9 years old so my mind was open to receive that magic and boy did I talk about life-changing you know Miles Davis was listening to machine gun off of Jimmy's live album from the Fillmore East a mi said yeah I want to be able to play just like that Jimi does on that motherfuking machine gun they were going to do something together but unfortunately Jimi died before they had a chance Miles Davis was one ofJimis' pallbearers at his funeral I'm just hoping more people will listen to this man and you know of course Stevie Ray Vaughan is great and all these other guys are great I'm telling you none of them compare not one because the thing is it's not just about technical ability it's something else there's something you can't put your finger on but you know it when you hear it you know it when you see it Jimi had tons of it all right my man I'll check in on ya

You should do a reaction to a live video of the French band Magma; they single-handedly created a completely new genre name "Zeuhl". If you are not afraid to do a reaction to an almost 35 minutes song then listen to this brilliant live performance of "Theusz Hamtaahk" (which means "Time of Hatred" in Kobaïan, a language they invented in which they sing). They are in my opinion the best live band in the world. There is no studio version of "Theusz Hamtaahk", by the way.
