  • Managing jewelry making inventory and jewelry supplies as well as being sure you have enough finished product made from the supplies can be a daunting task. How many of us have gone to complete a project and found we had run out of the necessary things to get the job done. Also, isn't it irritating when our favorite suppliers have run out of things we need? You betcha. For you as a jewelry maker, however, the inventory can be managed, and you can do a fairly good job of staying on top of your needs just by being more aware of gaps in the industry and keeping tabs on what you have available to use. In this video Brenda Sue and Donna talk about what it's like for both jewelry artists as well as jewelry findings suppliers. We sincerely hope that our conversation helps some to have less frustration about inventory! And as always, this video is hosted by www.bsueboutiques.com home of brass stampings, vintage jewelry supplies, mixed media product, great tools, filigree, beads....and more! New to us? Use code NEWTOBSUE on your very first order of 30.00 or more and get 5.00 off as a welcome gift. Thanks for watching! #BSue_Boutiques

Even though I am a novice and don’t plan to have a line, I found this valuable for a mixed media one-off maker too. Knowing some of the backstage info helps me on a tiny maker scale too.

Thanks Brenda Sue and Donna...I watched this a second time and added to the notes I had from the first time. I particularly liked the info on manufacturer's time schedule. I have never thought along those lines and found that quite interesting. I love how you guys share so much of what I need to hear and Brenda you are so generous with your own story. I love your videos!! Diana

Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. You are a great teacher and inspiration. I actually was struggling with my own inventory issues especially because of the variety amount of pieces I make. You helped to sum it up and look at it in a different perspective. So thank-you and have a great day!

Thank you for sharing your expertise ladies, great video! I really enjoyed watching your other video where B'Sue gave advice regarding Donna's (?) earring line. I would like to see more of that please...balance, movement of assemblage, etc. That was most helpful to me. :-)

Wonderful advice. I wish I would take it. Go to my workshop to make, say, earrings. End up making rings. Next day, some bracelets. Make earrings instead. I have no concept where my creativity is going to go, from one day to the next. Sometimes, it just doesn't flow at all....and others, it pops out of nowhere. My solution is to provide as many options for my creativity as I can, and adjust items accordingly....but truly, I love your advice. However, when creating I seem to be coming from the non-organizational side of my brain :-)

I know what u mean! ...story of my life! But at least it sounds like you are producing "something". I have been collecting materials and watching "how-to vids" and not doing anything that I am supposed to! I MUST organize and start producing! I want to create several types of jewelry, shoot photography, and a whole lot more. i have ton's of ideas but I suffer with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Essential Tremors, and chronic pain. All are a constant struggle, even with meds... Wish me luck...

+Rachelle Deranger Take baby steps. Start on something simple. Don't expect so much from your first attempts. Ask yourself "Why am I always so hard on myself? Would I expect perfection from anyone else when they first start out doing something new?" Be prepared to be disappointed, and be prepared to be surprised when your first efforts turn out way better than you thought they would. :-) Just PLAY. Children play without having any thought of where this is going. So just play :-) Out of joy arises inspiration.

+Rachelle Deranger And if you can begin to feel joy, you most assuredly will not be feeling depressed or anxious. I know all about most of what you're going through. (I don't have tremors though). Make new pathways for your nervous system by focussing on new skills, new ideas, novel emotions. Where you put your energy equals exactly what is resulting for you. So, gently refocus your mind. Bring it back to where you want it to go. If I cannot sleep, I go step by step in my mind, designing or creating a piece of jewellery I've never done before. Even if my skill level isn't up to it, next day I'll go try it out. I have never failed, I just haven't succeeded yet :-)
