- Hey everyone, a lot has gone on at the brewery this week. With my first batch making its way through the process, not knowing what to expect and the unknown hurdles, I was forced to make a decision.
Thanks for watching guys.
Hugely respect anyone who takes the hard decision to not sell something you're not happy with. I appreciate how much time, money and love goes into making beer, but I've seen too many sell problematic beer, and it come back to bite them.
That's the right decision. If you're not happy then you cant expect others to be happy. It's the brave choice. And the main thing is you've learned a hell of alot about the new process and equipment. You'll crack it in the next batch!
Gutted, but that’s the way, learn and get right back on it! Really respect the decision to dump it, like you say that first batch is what you will be Jussie’s on. Keep going!
If you’re not happy with it then its the right decision not to send it out, definitely make that first batch one you can be proud of 👍🏻
That's unfortunate man but part of the game in my opinion. I know times hard but you must only send out beers you're confident and proud off. The first impression of your beer to your customers is utmost importance. Goodluck man! Been following along your journey.
Sad to see beer go to waste but the right decision if it's not right like you say for your first batch going into pubs you want it to be right and give yourself a good showcase. Good learning opportunity better now than when you've got people waiting on a order 🍻 look forward to the next brew mate
Just found your channel and been having a bit of catch up.
Think it's more normal than not, to toss a first batch or just not sell it. I have noticed with my homebrewing setup, that anytime I change a piece of stainless on the hot side, or fermenter, there is a slight metallic taste no matter what. The second batch is much better and by the third, I start to get the true flavors that are expected.
What % apparent fermentation are you free rising at? I’d also if you can look at dry hopping then dropping the bottoms off the tank every 3 days or so to get the hop material that’s in the cone off the beer. Might help you in the long run.
