I really appreciate how you take the time to cut in the clips of the thing you are making offhand references to. It really improves the experience.
EJ and Frankie's pee cycles have synced 😂😂
Lets just pray they never *cross the streams!* 🚽👻
The way you switched perfectly from modern Kevin to 90's Kevin was hilarious, you're way too good at doing him.
8:39 Please don’t stack laserdiscs or vinyl. When you stack them, the combined weight will start warping the ones on the bottom.
came here to say this. same goes for vinyl records, both should be stored vertically like books on a shelf
I was (still am) a huge Tiny Toons fan.
You'll literally *won't* see animation like that anymore. Wikipedia states that each episode had 25,000 animation cells per episode vs the standard 10,000. Very fluid movement.
I very much enjoyed this comment and will investigate Tiny Toons. Watched it a lot as a kid but have completely forgotten about it.
I love how James became an omnipresent force in the podcast that just shows up sometimes
"Just listened to the Chasing Amy laserdisc...yeah...."
@@cheeverbeaver *James in character as Angry Videogame Nerd:* _"This movie (Chasing Amy) is shit!! It's rotten buffalo anus mucus, sprinkled with old man diarrhea and clown farts! I love Frankie talks about the animators from Tiny Toons understanding motion and "physical" comedy, there are so many scenes in The Simpsons where I thought the same thing. Making things that are physically impossible into physical comedy is kind of a genius thing. And that's not a Mandiluh affect lol (if the joke is lost it is spelled phonetically in the way Bimmy says it)
Frankie's Kevin Smith impressions - then and now - are flawless.
THAT'S A CED NOT A LASER DISC AHHH I'M HAVING A PANIC ATTACK
This has got to be one of the most unfocused clips of the podcast yet I love it
I remember watching that Tiny Toons vacation movie when I was a kid, was so awesome
See? This proves my point. Frankie gets all the shit and EJ sits back and watches it happen. Laughing
Sipping his whisky. Seeing things with his new glasses. That's what you get for being likeable, Frankie. (I'm not saying EJ isn't likeable it's just Frankie's has become the face of the show so ofcorse everyone's going to go after him. Best of luck, Frankie. Stay strong)
I used to rent that Tiny Toons VHS from Blockbuster all the time. The chainsaw guy part always scared me.
Advertised on the "Curly Sue" vhs.
I lost it on the Kevin Smith impression. Well done. lol
Any time I'm feeling old I listen to this podcast to remind myself that worst case scenario, there are people out there older then me, and best case scenario, there are people out there just as old as me. You guys are old. I'm old. Lets continue to be old and talk about things we remember!
Man I remember watching the Tiny Toon movie on Nickelodeon. At first I wasn’t sure but a memory was unlocked when you showed the scenes with Plucky and Hampton going to the amusement park
Agreed on Tiny Toons Adventures (I loved the games too!). But are we ready as society to talk about how underrated and ahead of its time Freakazoid was? It really needs a reboot, like the Animaniacs one
I love waking up to new red cow videos. Such a chill way to start my day. You guys are awesome.
both kevin smith era impressions are uncanny
Ya'll should see if Junt wants to come back on the podcast soon. It'd be nice to hear some of the things he has been up to recently.
Also I remember that Tiny Toons episode really well.
That Tiny Toons movie will forever be tied in my mind to Final Fantasy 2 (Jason Graves voice: FOUR!) as I rented both together.
Chasing Amy is my favorite Kevin Smith movie. The first time I saw it the ending caught me completely by surprise.
Its great with laserdisc how every frame is captured you can roll the frames back and forth you can see how something is animated.
ive bought 5 laserdisc players from resale shops over the years. 3 of them didn't work at all, and 2 of them didn't work correctly. im still waiting for "the one"
After middle school back then, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Batman:TAS all in a row...
I'm now imagining a one-armed man declaring "and THAT'S why you don't buy Columbia Tristar Laserdiscs!"
11:08 Amazing impressions from Frankie as always! 👏
Emulators on iOS was a game changer for me. Starting to sell a lot of my collection.
Tiny Toons is top tier animation
An antique mall near me has a copy of Phantasm 3 on laserdisk.
That Chasing Amy Audio Commentary moment discussion made this more than worthwhile. I was SOOOO into the View-Askew-niverse back then (and still love those first 3 movies today)
We need to bring back clear plastics like we had in the 90s.
In neon green and orange
@@MrBonesSrIII and watermelon
N64 purple!
I’m addicted to them 😂😂
i constantly think back to buttons the dog, so relatable and the last piece of physical cartoon comedy i can recall enjoying
Capacitance Electronz Disc
Big fan, hiyah!
Jonathan Winters AND Sorrell Brooke (Boss Hog) were among the cast for the Tiny Toons special. How cool is that?!
I have around 70 Laserdiscs. If you happen to ever go to Japan you can go to a Hard Off. They will regularly have Laserdiscs that are 100 yen a piece because no one wants them.
S-Video is probably a waste of time for laserdisc. Basically, the S-Video just routes the composite signal through the player's internal comb filter. Unless you have a really good player, your TV probably has a better comb filter. Its worth trying just to see how it looks but I wouldn't fret.
I remember seeing how I spent my vacation on Fox Kids split up into 2 or 3 episodes.
Oh man, the hypothetical Columbia Tristar Laserdisk Conversation had me chuckling for a solid 20 seconds. Well done, gents.
That laserdisc cover is awesome! I have the crappy dvd but ya take what you can get.
LaserDisc is natively composite video. The S-Video output really only does comb filters on some players. Modern comb filters by TVs and other things will probably be better in most cases.
Frankie "The Laser Disc Fun Time Guy" 😆
Probably misses his old glasses 🤣 so good
Super dope video as always fellas. Frankie is cool but EJ is such a funky fresh player pimp! Congratulations, player.
Awesome Vid!
Thank You very much for Your Work! Greetings from Germany
As a 44 year old, I know the pain of having to get up in the middle of the night to pee lol. We need a EJ beard care video because it’s really becoming magnificent
17:05 They did bring back Cree Summer to voice Elmyra for one episode on season two.
Oh man that bigamy joke is incredible.
That EJ beard is getting into S tier territory
You may have convinced a 26 year old to start watching Tiny Toons.
Oh, EJ watched Retroblasting. 13:05
S-Video is the best thing since sliced bread.
I hooked our new 36 in CRT up to DirecTV with S-video with a mid home theater system in 1997 like "Yo, this is the peak..."
Recently I learned that Chasing Amy of all things has an official manga adaptation. Anime styled Jay and Bob is an odd look
Frankie, are you saying you are not a curator of laserdisc?
Real hipsters collect CED Video Discs ..but you probably haven't heard of them.
The real real hipsters only watch VCD movies on a Sega Saturn with the extremely rare video card installed in the expansion bay.
@@Chicomite Nice but that's doesn't have the analogue warmth of video from a needle & turntable that CED Video Discs have.
The UA-cam channel Technology Connections has a playlist of the history of laser Disc. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the technology.
Not sure if they can see this, but if EJ wants help visiting San Diego, I can definitely help him have a great first time in the west.
EJ is so full of pee at night that he aint "Clairvoyant" ... he's Clearly Buoyant!
That Laserdisc payoff at the end though... 🤌
What kind of webcams do you two use? Are they dslrs being monitored through your PC? They look incredible!
yes. Frankie uses the Panasonic g9 and I use the Nikon d850. With the g9 I think you can connect a usb cable and use it as a webcam as long as you have the software installed on your computer. I use the elgato camlink4k on the hdmi output of my camera. - EJ
Wow! Please tell me you use that other things because that is still an amazing dslr! @@RedCowArcade
@@chrissantucci1279 it's my primary camera for video and photography. It's my favorite.
Thanks for the info boys! One of the better looking podcasts out there, and one that I'd rather watch than just listen to! 👏🏻
Tiny Toons Adventures how I spent my vacation longer than most of the PG-13/R-rated DC animated universe films. Tiny Toons Adventures is 90 minutes. DC are 75 or 60 minutes average.
First dvds i ever got was scary movie and jay n silent bob strike back
I always say.to ppl who say retro arc/ark;
"Ahh yes retro ark(arch). Just like noahs arch, or the arch of the covenant, or the giant arc in st luis"
Yeah like the archangel Michael or archangel Gabriel
big hipster frankie arch fan, btw!!!
Looking jaunty there EJ
Ticked the algo keeps choosing not to inform me of new videos from my fav bad takers.
I personally don't like S-Video for LaserDisc all that much. Love the format, just picked up Moonwalker, Altered States, and Brazil a couple weeks ago!
I'll take Tiny Toons over Animaniacs or Pinky and The Brain any day.
You Hipster! 😁 wtf is a CED? lol
Sent this to Tom Ruegger.
Do you know him?
Why does the cover for Chasing Amy look like a 2000s slasher film?
That’s an excellent point. Maybe just the black and white color scheme is inverted. Honestly I think the answer is that Miramax and Dimension designed all those slasher covers, and this was a Miramax film!
Speaking of animation, have you guys seen the Japanese opening for the old Xmen cartoon, it's amazing.
Rian Johnson pissed down by my back once and told me it was Star Wars.
Now imagine Paul WS Anderson helming Star Wars…
@@fernie-fernandez Milla J would be an even bigger Mary Sue than Rey lmao
@@FurbyParade226 I don’t know which is worse, making a film of someone’s wife with risqué scenes, or “AgEnDa”, as neckbeards scream about…
I’ll confess that I see Milla as Mara Jade.
Hey EJ, is it bad that I absolutely love Chrono Cross but could never get into Chrono Trigger?
Yes, certainly
That Tiny Toons movie was amazing. Begged our fourth grade teacher to watch it in class before the summer and she refused because it wasn't age appropriate. 🙄
Happy go pukey!!
13:12 Retroblasting?
if i remember right you guys aren't fans of the show, but a lot of your conversations remind me of the Seinfeld program
We don’t dislike Seinfeld!
@@RedCowArcade Not that there's anything wrong with that.
The big knock against Tiny Toons is that it is dated, but so is Animaniacs and everybody just forgives that.
You call yourself a laserdisc expert, pshh you probably don't even know the difference between CAV and CLV. You know, angular vs linear velocity?!? Come on, man.
Why are you still using that horrible earpiercing outro? It's as if you set out to make the worst outro possible and you certainly did, I have no idea why you would think it's a good outro to use.
