Uncle Ted is criminally underrated. He will never be in the RnR Hall of Lame because of his politics and conservative views. He's from Detroit and grew up on Motown artists so he always bends the knee to them and players like Chuck Berry, BB King, etc. You may not like him personally but he's definitely one of the greatest of all time.

TNT YES THAT IS TED NUGENT. Playing the guitar and with added random screams. He hit the scene back in the 60's and was ahead of his time with his style of play. His early stuff sounds quite a bit like Hendrix and matter of fact they met and actually played together. The big difference in what Nugent can get out of his guitar is actually in the guitar itself. It is NOT built for rock so he had to constantly fight it to keep the feedback from overwhelming the sound he wanted. But then he would also use that feedback effectively. His rig during those years featured NO pedals, no crazy electronics etc. It was him his Byrdland guitar and his Fender stacks. That's it. IMO he is one of the most talented rock guitarists of all time. Probably in the top 5 easily. And he did it every night for decades. And YES any guitar fan or rock fan being honest has Ted Nugent easily in the rock and roll hall of fame. They do not like his beliefs on freedom. But for pure guitarist? An absolute master. Other songs to check out are Just what the Dr ordered, Out of control, Snakeskin cowboys, and many other classic hits.

The RnR wont induct Ted because they know he'll turn his acceptance speech into a right wing pulpit and make a political speech. It's his own damn fault. He's made it so no one will interview him about his incredible musicianship, because he refuses to stay on topic. Everything has to be a super negative rant about how much he cant stand certain beliefs and anyone who holds them. I gave up on Ted, he's a lost cause. I used to listen to it all the time when I was a teen 40 years ago (had to quickly turn down the sound to keep the parents from hearing his vulgar between song banter...lol). He could howl like a rabid pitbull on that guitar. Other killer tunes on there are "Cat Scratch Fever" & "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang". Get around to checking out other great live albums like Scorpions "Tokyo Tapes" (a very different & superior band in the '70s when they had the fantastic guitarist Uli Jon Roth) & "Unleashed in the East" by Judas Priest.

He got well deserved credit for DECADES before he made the decision to go off the deep end of conspiracy hate-fueled ranting nonsense. He made a _choice_ and the people that have now set him aside made their choice, that's the definition of free enterprise. He still sells out shows and events so the kneejerk hyperbolic "cancelled" moniker that gets thrown at everything these days is ludicrous.

Awe, To ALL of You, “Reactors” (That I Just Sent This Too),
As an old man who was born into this business, I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!!!!! Especially since most of you were not born when the songs you react to were first released. Listening to you guess about what was up back then is almost as fun as the memories you bring me. Something for I must say THANK YOU!!!!!
My Father is a World Class Musician, I am a trained Percussionist and truly low-level Producer. Nowadays, I own some land and am helping my son build an amphitheater on this place as well as create a self-contained mobile tour system. It’s detailed so I’ll leave it there.
Meanwhile, as I take breaks I’ve been watching & listening to y’all. Like I said, THANK YOU -
What triggered me tonight was your reviews of TED NUGENT in particular!!!!! I was “THERE”.
As a nauseating adolescent I was totally into CHIC, ETW, RUFUS, & Sugar Hill Gang for starters. Definitely throw in everyone from Bootsy, to Funkadelic Parliament, Grandmaster Flash & The Fabulous Five, Johnny Guitar Watson, LAKESIDE, The Spinners, Tom Jones. As well as ZAPP & ROGER. As was I into Burt Bacharach, The Carpenters, CHICAGO, along with many, many others because I am a Musician with diverse tastes.
Then I met a guy, went to a “Band Practice” &, as they say, “The Rest was History”. Until that night, of all things, I was never into “Hard Rock” or “Heavy Metal”. But as ALI taught, if a person is the same at 50 as he (or she) was at (her) his 20, then that person just wasted 30-years of LIFE!!!!!!
So, since most of you weren’t even born during those times, please allow me to be your Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Tour Guide. Although the tour may seem long, I’m only going to barely scrape the surface. Just do yourself a favor, since you’re here by giving each Band and each song a complete once through. Then, for those of you who actually post a “reaction”, I will “Subscribe” to your channel as well as share your “Reactions” with (some of) my children and grandchildren. And, yes, I understand, some of you may have “reacted” to at least one of the songs I am about to link y’all to before.
BTW - What I’m finding is something I used to miss all the time. It’s, “Point of Origination”. East Coast v. West Coast sounds type thing. I know you can dig it!!!!! I chose the Bands I did because y’all seem to like it HARD. So, with no further ado, as close to chronological order as reasonably possible (considering the overlaps in time), here we go.
This Band 1st formed in the 1960’s, is from Western Europe and is still around.

This 2nd Band was formed in the early 1970’s Best Guess & is also from Western Europe. The Lead Guitarist used to be in the 1st Band for which his older Brother is still the Rhythm Guitarist for. Yes, the Lead Guitarist changed the name of the Band to his name and tours to this day too.

This 4th Band is from our North American West Coast and was playing Led Zeppelin Covers in Bars throughout Vancouver B.C. in particular when it finally got it’s act together enough to Perform some “Originals” and otherwise come home to The States once the Vietnam War ended. Sure, some of y’all have reacted to some of this Band’s tunes, but as I will repeatedly state, I have yet to see or hear a “reaction” to these tunes.

This 5th Band is another Western European Band which was doing it’s best to get its act together throughout the early 1970’s. By the mid 1970’s it had finally scored what amounted to its 1st World Tour and, as they say once again, “The Rest is History”. FTR - Although some of y’all have “reacted” to this Band, as stated about other Bands in/on this list, I have never seen or heard your reaction to the songs I’m about to link you too. Possibly because they were before MTV Videos.

This 6th Band is from our North American East Coast & should’ve been a much bigger hit as far as I’m concerned but they had their had their times from the very late 1970’s through a chunk of the 1980’s.

This 7th Band was founded by a guy from Western Europe who was already in very successful Band but the Lead Guy whom the Band is named after didn’t always get along with members of his former Band much less member of the Band you are about to hear. So, he burns through Band members. BTW, it seems most of his Band members are actually American!!!!!
Although y’all will likely know him instantly, I have never seen or heard a “reaction” from any of y’all on the songs I’m about to link you too. Mind you, arguably they are his Band’s BEST work but the main writer, his American Guitarist, died tragically young before he could complete the Tour promoting the album from which these two songs were originally recorded on. Meanwhile, no offense to all of the Guitarist picked up by Dude since then, NONE have been able to touch the now deceased Guitarist.

Great observations!!! Back in the 70s, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Queen, etc., was considered heavy metal. When the 80s came around a distinction between blues based hard rock and heavy metal was made.

Ted is one of the best guitarist of all times. Good rock just feels good don`t it? I could tell by the way you was smiling you was feeling it. Honestly I think it`s great for your health, maybe not your ears depending on how loud you listen to it but I`ve been listening to and playing it for almost 50 years and I can still hear pretty good. Aint much of nothing in life some good music can`t help to make you feel better. So glad you`re getting to experience it. You have soooo much more to get to experience. There`s a lot of really good blues playing guitarist too. The great ones never get old hearing them.

Ted Nugent is truly one of the all-time great rock guitarists. His outrageous behavior and conservative political views are so different than mainstream musicians…he’s basically been blackballed from the RRHOF. His music was considered “heavy metal” at that time. I loved it!!! The loudest concert I ever witnessed was Ted Nugent in 1979.

I saw Ted front row opening for KISS in Jackson, MS. Amazing show but he spits on the crowd which got me and I was PISSED. Then Snake Sabo (Skid Row) came out and sat on the bench built into the guard rail up front right in front of me with his lady and watched KISS with me and my ex.
Need to Check out Great White Buffalo. When he plays that live he hangs the guitar up on a stand built onto the front of his amp and pulls a real Compound bow out, lights an arrow on fire and shoots the guitar. Shows over.

Great time to be a rocker around the time when Double Live Gonzo came out. Just think about it KISS Alive, Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo, Bob Seger Live Bullet, Frampton Comes Alive, Aerosmith Live Bootleg, Rolling Stones Love You Live & Foghat Live just to name a few all came out between 1975 & 1978. Up until then, live albums, especially double albums, had a reputation that they didn't sell very well. Every one of the albums I mentioned had massive sales & lots of FM radio air play back in the day.

Concur. Wth you been. Nugent was the shit for decades, I'm 60 and still bust out this album constantly . Especially good for mowing lawns.
My neighbors in the 70s probably know his pre 80 catalog by heart. Along with Sabbath and Zepp and old Ac/DC.
This was Ted on the axe backed by Derek st Holmes who is phenomenal as well.
Every song on double live is a treasure

I believe the reason that the "in crowd" of Hollywood & most of the entertainment industry isn't exactly acceptive of him is due to how opposite most of his views are. He's pro-hunting, anti-drugs, very independent, VERY patriotic, & usually much more right leaning in politics, with the cherry on top of being very proud & out spoken. He appears to enjoy arguing & debating. :-) I think he was even in law enforcement at one time.
I think 1978 is the year that the movie Star Wars came out. Wild coincidence. :-)

Ted owned the Hard Rock genre in 70's and 80's. Every year between Christmas and New Years he would hold several concerts around this area (Great Lakes) called the Whiplash Bash, and they would blow the roof off of every arena.

Yes, that was Ted Nugent playing. He does not always sing on every song, but he always plays guitar. I believe he started out in the 60's with The Lords or something like that; then played with The Amboy Dukes in the late 60's and early 70's, before Led Zeppelin and Van Halen and those other bands formed. Then he went solo in the early-mid 70's and did not look back.
Bit of trivia: The first rock song that Johnny Fever played on the TV show WKRP in Cincinnati, when the station switched from elevator music to rock, was 'Queen of the Forest' from Ted's first solo album. But if you listen to the reruns today they have switched out a lot of the original songs from the show because they couldn't settle a lot of the copyright disputes.
