This is one of the most fascinating examples of gorilla communication on UA-cam. It's amazing.
This is communication on a high level. No spoken language means that any other type of interaction means a lot more. A touch, grab, slap, slight pull, and especially prolonged interaction like this, means something on a deeper level psychologically. They do this to test their emotional levels. This enounter, both will remember for a long time. They both know how strong they are and that they could hurt each other very badly if they wanted to. The fact that they don't go to that level, means something.

Keeping his eyes lowered by looking at the rocks is a sign of respect, submission to the silverback with it's back to us, it also helps avoid confrontation with the dominant silverback.
The chimps are such unpredictable bezerkers spazzing out compared to these gentle giants taking it easy..I love these guys
Absolutely. Chimps can let go at any moment for no reason, these beautiful creatures are measured and non violent, assessing a situation to understand and resolve it. Gorgeous things that we need to protect

I like the way they both nonchalantly threw the stick at each other. Funny how the older gorilla kept grabbing the younger males dome….messing around, just toying with him.
Yeah, I'm noticing something about their "dome". I think I was watching the gorillas in a zoo in Japan and a younger (not fully grown) male was nodding and affectionately patting his dome over and over and over. Like "I'll grow, I just have to be patient" And I noticed (in this video?) an older male reach down to rub his crotch and then wipe the top of the other male's head. Like a mild insult? I'm thinking the bigger the dome the more masculine they are? I don't know. It's just really interesting. I love watching them.

I'm not an expert on gorillas but out of all the videos that I've watched on them it's usually the males that stop the fighting and it's usually the females that do the fighting but no one ever gets hurt not even bite.
