Hello this video is really helpful, I need to replace the electrical connector on my trunk bc the plastic bit was ripped off when I bought it. do you know where I can find that part or if I can just cut the wire a little and put a replacement plastic bit on it?
Thank you sir, you helped me! I was so busy looking for a specific prescription for my car that I overlooked core properties of a trunk. I basically took my trunk apart and put it back together. My latch was out of alignment.

Same thing happened to me but I decided to remove it and found that it wasn't the problem. I noticed that screw was missed and it is very loose. Yeah, I tried to move it back and forth and a loose screw somehow fell off. I put it back on and tighent it and voila. It's working fine. I almost have to have it replacement. Be careful of waste money. Double check first. Whew.
Thanks a lot, it’s the best video for this “trunk won’t open nightmare”, in my car I couldn’t open with the remote, like it was not getting signal after I lubricated the system, so I’m trying to figure out what’s the lead, wish me luck, I have a Kia forte 2020 😂
Mine opens and closes over and over everytime I cut my subwoofers up. How do I make it to where it doesn’t automatically close by itself? I don’t mind having to use the key to open it but it’s annoying hearing it open and close over and over
My trunk will close but not all the way. You can see from the outside of the vehicle that there is a gap so when it rains, I get a lot of water and it sits where my spare tire well is. So far, I’ve checked the stripping around the trunk, the tail light gaskets, the only thing I notice is my bottom latch is slightly off but still allows my trunk to close. Sometimes I have to attempt a few times but it still closes. Any suggestions?
The car may have been in an accident and the trunk is not aligned correctly. The weather strip may be damaged. Some cars have a drain plug for this very reason. If there is nothing under the trunk, you may want to look into implementing a drain hole as well. Just a suggestion. There are rubber grommets that allow the water to drain only.
Mine only latches sometimes. Everything is connected properly, I've verified that it is, and it was latching originally, but now it closes all the way but won't latch and just swings back open. I've tried simulating the trunk being closed with a screw driver but the latch itself won't stay in place and bounces back into the open position. We got it to work for a bit but now it's back to not latching at all. I'm not sure what to do.
Thanks -great tips, replaced the latch -but wouldn't close, found out existing bumper -was put on my car, more then likely sustained damage-the bottom latch-, one of bolts cannot secure tightly, had dropped, so once loosened it up, able to move it higher & latch mechanism able to click on-Thanks !!
I had to have my trunk lid replaced because someone hit my driver side rear. But the mechanics didn't replace the rubber grip on the handle you use to open the trunk! It makes me wonder if they even replaced my trunk lid and instead just popped the dents out and did a touch up paint job. To clarify the rubber grip was dry rotted off when my car came in; Florida, rubber doesn't last long. I thought that when they replaced the trunk lid that would be part of the replacement. Is it not normally? I'm grabbing bare metal to open my trunk. It also doesn't catch properly when I go to close my trunk. Instead I have to slam the trunk lid down at least twice before it stays closed. Never had to do that before.

The latch in my Kia Rio will get stuck and keep clicking on, afterwards it stops but now it won't close or if we get it to close. It will keep opening. Help?
My trunk is stuck in the unlocked position it’s an 07 Aveo sedan and I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. The locking mechanism won’t lock and hold the striker, the striker and the mechanism are aligned so I’m not sure why it won’t lock. Any thoughts?
My 2017 Chevy Volt has become more and more difficult to latch. I feel confident the lower unit needs to be adjusted upward. ^ Gratefully your video has solved my Volts Hatchback issue it's identical. YES!

lot of these issues can be avoided by lubricating the latches and cable once a year or so
