  • (Update 1st October 2023 - Adrian's house is still for sale if you're interested)
    Hello followers, Adrian found me here on UA-cam and since his property is quite near where Random Romania is based I went to see it. I had a hunch it might be interesting because he talked about it with such love, fond memories etc. I was not sure if there was a video in it but in the end it turned out pretty well, I'm so used to the natural beauty here I always forget how magnificent it is in the mountains.
    I'm sorry about the rumbling sound in the car, we'll try and improve on that in future, making videos is harder than most people realize, the pros make it look easy and have vast equipment budgets. :)
    With our cabin project that we've featured in other videos one thing that comes up is people requiring a cheap base to operate from when they move here, Adrian's property is a perfect base if you're looking for rural, I suspect he'd make a nice deal for the right person/family.
    Thanks for watching and supporting us, please like, subscribe ect. and we'll be back soon.
    If you want more detailed information about anything featured in our videos please make a request in the comments below, we'll always respond promptly.

    I am Romanian living abroad: Please be careful when you buy property in Romania, not all the people are honest. Get professionals involved to do the title research so not to buy a property, spend the money and end up with nothing.

    • @randomromania
      @randomromania  Рік тому +1

      partially true, title research yes, lawyers, be very careful, they care about their fees and not if you solve your problems. i've also seen lawyers stir up fights to get more fees that could have been solved with mediation. lawyers business model is generally on it's head. cheers

      @@Alexander-jr8nw i've seen some border disputes on properties with old cadastral papers, from what i know now you can only transfer a property once you've updated the cadastrals to the new system, typically this will flag up any issues. depends on the area too i think. i've yet to be caught with something like this, it does happen but it's rare.

    I get a red flag from the fact that when you hear about a 60 millions years old, endangered fish species your first thought is fishing. Of course that everybody is looking for a good deal but please, if you want to buy a property in Romania also have respect for nature!

    I am thinking for a couple of days what kind of Airbnb or collaboration is possible with this chap. Please correct me if I am wrong, but who would want to stay in this village?
    It seems like it is at least 2 hours drive from Brasov and 3+ hours drive from Bucharest. Without rental car you can't visit this place I suppose, or it will be veeeery difficult by public transport.
    In Bucharest and Brasov it is possible to find apartment even in the summer for about 40-50 bucks per night. In this village price should be 10 bucks per night taking into account that you rent a car for another 40 bucks per day.
    In addition to that, nobody speaks in that village any English, French, Spanish, German or any other language except Romanian. You should have only cash to pay for everything, nowhere to walk as in that area many bears in forests and no tourist activities.
    Who would visit that place? )))

    • @randomromania
      @randomromania  Рік тому +3

      People who like to be left alone I guess. Also you're not realistically living anywhere rural without at least a car or ideally a 4x4 or even better both.
      I've not used public transport since I got a driving license when I was 18 unless it was really the only option or some kind of emergency, I don't like being forced into a space where people don't have any incentive to behave in a civilized manner, I find it quite weird all these youngsters that can't drive.
      Regarding food chain repositioning, I see the bears as an advantage as they confuse the townies, this is where it comes in handy having some sort of vehicle, this way if you have a small fridge in you vehicle you can keep some scraps from the butchers. This way if you do encounter a bear you can distract it with a little snack.
      Anyway I'd suggest you look at Cluj or Sibiu for starters, lots of cafes, McJobs and Hipsters aside from that they're fantastically beautiful cities.
      Cheers
      Ed

      @@randomromania Planning to visit Romania and Bulgaria next year. Thanks for suggestions 🙂
      Very few people would move to such a rural place in another country away from home. It requires probably 50K minimum, or better around 80K investment in a house, 4x4, maintenance and so on. In addition you won't be able to communicate with people as you do not know the language. I guess such areas can be found in almost any country except arabic ones where it is all desert.

    • @randomromania
      @randomromania  Рік тому +3

      @@anthonybreaux4741 Yeah, rural life is not for everyone. You can find people who speak a little English in the countryside here. Bulgaria can't really compete with Romania in many ways.

      Many years ago my parents had a summer lodge in a very remote place in the mountains. Yes, you got there by car. It took at least 20 minutes to go on foot to the nearest village. It was amazing! There was a river nearby, we would walk through the forest, gather mushrooms and berries, bath in the river or just laze around in our yard. Wonderful air! There were bears of course, even wolves, but never seen one, we knew to make noise so they avoided us. The scariest experience was with shepherd dogs!
