    I have the book as well. My understanding of perspective grew a lot in a month. Love the perspective tricks the book taught me. Though I will say this book is a more technical look on learning perspective. After learning the technical understanding of it, you can then start being more flexible with what you learned.

    I have this book almost from my early steps in learn drawing. This is the "bible" of perspective, but I think
    its not suitable for beginners and mite be a bit dangerous for someone that is only starting because he/she
    would probably wont be able to duplicate (draw) the content of the book and this can
    discourage and end up in quitting drawing altogether.
    It can be super useful but only if you approach it with the mind set that its ok not to get even close to Scott's results.
    Also the name is a bit misleading. Its more learn to draw in perspective then just a general "learn to draw" and the whole approach is very
    engineering/architecture oriented - a lot of ruler usage and heavily using grids.
    Saying all that I think it's an amazing book, a must have for any artist that want to develop his/hers perspective to perfection.
    Also, Scott is a brilliant artist I follow his work everywhere I can :)

    • @TheBlackJewelz
      @TheBlackJewelz Рік тому +1

      I just got the book, expecting it to help me learn how to draw as a VERY beginner, abstract-style, artist. It definitely seems like MEGA overkill honestly, and definitely geared more toward the architect/engineer. Thinking of returning it for a book that might be more fitting for someone pursuing the art lane of drawing. Things like shading for perspective/depth, form, anatomy, foreshortening, portraiture tips, etc. This doesn’t seem to be the right book for that. If you have any recommendations feel free to share

    • @VeryBlueBot
      @VeryBlueBot Рік тому +2

      @@TheBlackJewelz For perspective "Perspective Made Easy" by Ernest Norling is an amazing short and easy to follow. One of my favorites for understanding and practicing
      perspective. Its an old one but is a perfect balance between going in depth and easy to follow examples and explanations.
      Its only about perspective so not really talking about lighting/shadowing etc.
      You can "reverse engineer" from the examples that obviously have light.
      Also its all black and white.. I love pen and ink, but if you are into color, its something to consider.
      its a good choice to complement Scott's book

      @@oscarman10001 honestly, just go watch some youtube video about perspective. When I've read the book I always companion it with youtube tutorials. Skillshare have a good variety of perspective drawing and if you're able to try Marshal Vandruff perspective course(it's not on skillshare). The book is kinda outdated so you might not understand some part of it which I struggle the most of. Not saying it's a bad book though but for me video tutorials are more suited to learn perspective because you can see it on real time and some uses 3D software to manipulate perspective.

      Long story short, videos is the way to go to learn because visuals are easy to understand but books will keep you in track of where to begin and end. So, if you've bought the H2D book search the part you need clarification. That's my tip when it comes to studying.
