I lived on boats in London and Marbella, a superb lifestyle, got to meet some excellent people and saw amazing nature daily. Winters on sea Marinas can be a little difficult for a few days/weeks, but if you're keeping the van as well then you'll have the luxury of both. Best of luck 👍

I drink black coffee, have done all my life. I am 83 now, so it doesn't seem to have harmed me. Maybe even prolonged my life, who knows. I don't drink alcohol, never have. Not since my first try at 16 or so when I decided it was garbage. Never touched it again, I'm just the sort of person who will never do anything that I don't want to! Travelled all my life, never in a van but used to live on a 45ft trimaran, sailing in northern Australian waters and the Pacific. I was a journalist and photographer, always on the move, married four times, lived and worked in nine different countries aided and abetted by the fact that I speak five languages. Earned four little pensions adding up to enough to live on, and saw the world. I must have visited 40 or 50 different countries. Never been sick a day in my life, I think it's the black coffee...

You are wrong on that dear, you face away from gangway. If you loose footing youll cut your face open going down hard metal steps. Its gouing down. I was a proper sailor RN. You hang on to sjdes or top deck az you go down.

I'm used to US rules and they make sense to me. "There are diverse international standards and references for stairs. For example, the United States’ OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) defines that all ship stairs (or ship ladders) “between 60 and 90 degrees, be device-facing, so any ships ladder that is angled 60 degrees or steeper must be descended backing down”." I'll tell you this much, you'll never catch me climbing down a ladder from my roof facing away from it. I like the three points of contact rule.

Beautiful rendition Ame! And! A beautiful voice! More singing please! I just had to tell you, I'm converting my van - "Frida!" It's a 2015 Nissan NV200 - I can't stand up in it but I've seen alot of people redo these too. So if I love it, maybe someday I'll get something bigger. I'm in the beginning stages but there's already been a fair amount of swearing involved and gone through a few bandaids but I can't wait till it's finished! Anyway, you were the very first Van Lifer I started following, you inspired me, so Thank You Ame!
