For the first time I see our national rally hero's name stickers on an rc car, this is so cool, Ott Tänak 🇪🇪 and Martin Järveoja 🇪🇪, my heros.

Would you rather buy the CEN RC-car or the HPI WR8?
Cause I do own the HPI WR8 WRX and am happy as I could be, but the RB M-Sport 1/8 Rally Car from CEN is a car I really like and probably will buy in the future (for my sons 🥴) 😉

@@5ShotProductions WR8 is a bit more robust and heavier, and probably the better overall basher. The CEN is still a good car and it's so beautiful, but it's a notch below the WR8.

And by the way, one of your videos about the WR8 Impreza was the reason for buying that thing cause 4 weeks ago I had bought my younger son a cheap RC Drift Car, so that he could find out if he would like it…
Me after driving a few minutes with that thing -> „I need a new toy“ 🫣
So I started typing silly questions into Google, and then started watching a few videos about RC cars… Fast forward: I see quite a few videos about that HPI WR8 Subaru and almost every UA-camr out there had a blast with it.
4 weeks later and a few Euros less in my pocket I don’t regret the buy at all.
I had RC cars when I was younger, the then new Tamiya Blackfoot and the Tamiya Super Saber 😍 But as you might guess, my RC driving “career“ was ages ago 😂

Traxxas has the Ford Fiesta too and Carisma has an Kia Rally.
CEN car is set up better for tarmac stages even tho it doesn't have sway bars. However I remember that HPI had some optional firm springs and once installed on the WR8 with heavier oil, it was really good.
The stock WR8 will traction roll like crazy on tarmac. I’ve put in heavier oil and springs to see if it helps. Haven’t actually driven it yet though.

With the amount of trimming you had to do, it makes me wonder, do manufacturers even test their cars? This seems like a fairly straightforward issue that doesn’t require very specific conditions, yet the body kept rubbing and folding inside the car….
I think whoever mounted that body mounted it a little too far forward. Couple mm back and it would have been good.
The drifting in the pavement was just awesome!
The light gravel was cool to.

The motor screws came loose. Typical CEN issues. Looks like a fun RC though.
Damn, like 50 other channels posted the review at the same time. They all say the same thing as if they are reading from the same script. 😂 I'd rather watch Brett unbox and send it. At least he is entertaining to watch. lol.
Tomley RC encountered the exact same problem with the rear of the body folding up under the rear wheels. And... I pretty sure he had a screw missing somewhere too?? (Might be wrong) Good a thorough review guys. Love watching your videos. Just wish we had as much good tarmac and big open spaces in the UK! 🇬🇧 😂
Glad to see CEN take a dive into the scale/performance scene. I'm preordering, i hope the minor concerns were addressed, and i assume there is a feedback session with reviewers such as Amain, Horizon etc.
Yeah, these are likely preproduction models & hopefully aren't representative of the QC standards on the production version.
I've seen this one & Phil's one over at Tomley RC had missing screws, I'm going to watch RC Drivers video when I get a moment to see what his is like. 😉 😉
Preproduction & manufacturer demonstration models can be pretty cool if you can get your hands on them... There's an Ebay shop in the UK that CML Distribution uses to sell theirs once they've finished with them, they import Associated/FTX/Fastrax/CEN/Hobao & a few others I can't remember atm, I once snagged myself an FTX Outlaw with a red rollcage & unpainted body... I've never seen another like it, the cages only came in black or blue.

When CEN is rolling out rally cars the rc world is doing OK. Thank you CEN for stepping out with some good fun to bring on the smiles for miles.

When I saw 'CEN', I almost deleted the notification and carried on but glad I watched! I figured it was just another rally car but that body caught my attention and I was impressed with the specs. It's a really nice car, big and handles extremely well. Definitely need to upgrade the drive shafts and address the fit of the body. Plenty of RTRs suffer from QC issues, though (you should go over any RTR before running) so, not a big deal to me. Looks great out there and that body, freakin' gorgeous (and I drive a Subie)! Thanks for the review! 👍

Once the QC and rear body problems get fixed, I’m getting one.
It is like this I would buy it for sure all RC stuff needs tweaking from time to time so that is nothing I would be worried about but the time I get the chance for it all things will be figured out.

Great review. I pre ordered one. I hope they addressed the body issue before they ship the 1st round of cars out. Every youtube review has had the same issue. I like your breakdown of the car. Especially checking the WR8 wheels. I was ready to order an extra set. Now I know they don't fit.
So far in 3 reviews on big rc channels. Every single person has the body shell getting caught up. One had a screw missing in the chassis, this one has bumper screws missing and motor mount come loose. Doesn't bode well for quality control.

Saying 'room for improvement' is an understatement when the suspension arm breaks instantly after an impact. They need to use composite material on the suspension, not standard ABS. The price is insane for how cheaply it's made.

Great looking livery, and i think they have simple chassis. How do you think compare that cen to other 1/10 rally car?? How long the wheelbase and track width??
As an M-Sport fan that has been looking to add a rally car to the collection, this is probably going to take my money.

every review ive seen of this has the same body issue, are they planning on doing a revision 2 of this, as im surprised they dont test these things before sending it out to buy, also on a side note ive not seen this answered in this videos how long does the battery last when using this fully charged, an hour longer or less?

For 3s batteries, what capacity will you be able to fit in that compartment?
I think we used 5000 or 5400mAh 3S batts and they fit fine. There's quite a bit extra velcro for chunky packs so it should fit really thick packs ok. How big exactly though, i'm not sure.

Were the later videos on the track etc on 2s or 3s? Could you just not raise the body a little in the rear (longer body posts maybe) I have been looking for a decent RTR rally car really wanted 1/10. I’m guessing this may be more stable at speed being larger and wider? Great review!
All the running footage was on 3S. For the body, we didn't try raising; that may help? Not sure.

I think if we’re spending close to $500 on an rc car then there shouldn’t be any screws missing and things should be tight. You kinda just shrugged it off. Every review I’ve seen on this today the car was missing screws. If they’re charging almost $500 for a car they should be having someone check them over so screws aren’t missing and loose everywhere.

Damn dude this thing fux. You can see it weight transfer really obviously. So you can obviously load up the car coming into corners which really makes a huge difference under initiation. I'll definitely be buying one of these. Along with some higher quality oil filled aluminum coilovers, aluminum wheel retaining hardware, steel gearing, and I'll definitely fab up a center bearing for the driveshaft because I know for a fact that's gonna end up being an issue.
So cool… Sick body… Mirrors won’t last long.
