I just want to clear up the 'Security Guard' bit...
He was actually really cool with it all, and I edited out some of what he said to protect him as I'd hate for someone to see it who knows him and for him to get in trouble. He was just doing his job and it was somebody else that had reported it. As there is a public footpath going through the place, I think I was ok, but if it was private property I'm sure I'd have been asked to leave pretty quickly. I don't support trespassing of any sort...and finished the video, cleared my mess up (foam and tyres everywhere haha)... and left peacefully. Hope that clear it up ;)

@@M.TTT. I do it for a living too. It's a shame that I have to sometimes tell people to move on even though what they're doing is technically harmless. If I don't do it I'm kinda out of a job so it sucks to be at work sometimes. If this was a situation reported to me I would have done my best to reason with the person reporting it at the time. No crime being committed Sir he's playing with his radio controlled car I will however have a word with him about the camber angle on his front wheels....Sir.

Happens to me all the time. Most people are either positive or neutral about my cars and I, but, there’s also an abnormally high number of angry morons who dislike me driving them for whatever multitudes of reasons… it’s disheartening but I won’t stop crawling or bashing.

I think that your particular model is one of the best RTR cars ever put out. Especially if you think about the year that it came out. It was literally about 3 years ahead of most everything else out. It is the most underrated RC on the market still.
Yes 100% Agree. I'd never really paid much attention to them, and then this one ended up in my hands, and it's the most used RC I have! So much fun!

Awesome vid as always. I love the rally car. I'm saving up for my next rc,I think I'm going for a crawler. I've never had one before but I watched tons of crawling videos and it just looks like so much fun. Still undecided though. I've always wanted a rally car as well
Crawling is fun, I like it as it's pretty slow paced and I find it's a good way to unwind :)
Well that was a proper American style 4 wheel burnout including blowing the tires at the end and the smoke. Cleetus Mc Farland would be proud of you and the Auzzees too who I think call it a skid.

Man, with how awesome HPI is with Rally cars and Nitro Monster Trucks, I really wish they’d do a re-visit on the Wheely King. That thing was the LMT before it was cool and it was a BLAST. I put a new motor in it and ran it on 2s and it was like a real monster truck. Miss when that truck was popular

Tomley RC Iv’e got an Arrma kraton 4s but iv’e managed to take a tooth out of either my pinion gear or my spur gear, i can’t seem to find anywhere that sells 4s bits at a reasonable price, do you know if 6s or 8s kraton bits would fit it or not or preferably a 4s dealer, any help would be much appreciated 👍

The HPI WR8 is the best RTR rc car I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot!). The Erevo is an amazing RTR too.

How are those front and rear driveshafts holding up? I know the WR8 is different, but the drivetrain still seems pretty similar to an hpi Bullet, which I have. (but the center diff seems so much nicer than a slipper).
Driveshafts are still good. Think I blew the Centre or Rear diff on this.... need to pull it apart and investigate

Lots of people think that of us security guards. We're just normal people and have no authority what so ever. We are however trained to look after people and their property should they need that done in a legal fashion. We have to operate within the law but we don't police it in any way. I secure the head office of an international agriculture firm, open it, close it, monitor the cctv, check peoples ID etc Nothing ever happens that's remotely exciting. At the weekend though my licence allows me to work at licensed premises which is always interesting and eventful. This security guard knows that what he is doing is a harmless hobby but he is operating according to the assignment instructions laid out by the client and simply must tell him to move on which he did politely enough. Also AUTHORITAAAAHAHHH

How well does this thing hold up part breaking wise? Absolutely badass build!
So, with the added power of a higher voltage system, what you want to do to make speed happen is stray away from the stock gearing and switch to a high gear ratio.... that is the purpose of switching to a higher voltage, lower kV system. It makes more power, and runs cool enough to operate with much higher (numerically lower) gearing.
Go to a 1/1 gear ratio and some foams and go for 100
Hi I really enjoy your channel but getting back into RC again after many years is confusing. I don't really understand the new lipo and motor terminology. What is KV?
Kv (motor) is the amount of revolutions per volt. So 4000kv is 4000 revs per 1v...so 10v would be 40,000 revs. mah(Batteries) is the capacity(run time is usually dictated by this, as well as discharge rate). The higher the 'mah' the better.

Haha… cheers dude. Carisma are just about to release a 1/8 Subaru (I am just doing a review video now). And there is also another 1/8 Rally car coming end of August for a different company, but I can say anything yet lol.
It needs better tires, and a durable DRIVESHAFT, the body has to adjustment, if it doesn't scratch the tires, sometimes, it takes a tumble🤕 down the road, nice run there, it needs improvement.🤯👍🤔🤨🧙

Amain discontinued everything because they were no longer a HPI Distributor for the states. HPI themselves haven't discontinued it

You should look at changing its gearing especially if you're putting in a different KV motor. I'm sure you're well aware of
Kv x volt =rpm. Less kv needs bigger gearing to go equivalent speed but can handle bigger gear ratio due to more torque and less heat. Is there a reason why you changed out the motor and ESC but not the gearing?
Yes... this was explained during the video. I mention that the 2050kv motor on 6s is not a lot more than the 4000kv on 3s. Hence why I didn't get any more speed... and the extra torque just makes it less controllable. It's hard to get it to 60mph on this set up... so gearing up is pointless.
@@TomleyRC I was referring to what you said about "no matter how much voltage you throw at it" ect. ect. So your end goal wasn't to go faster? It just seems to me that to go through the effort of changing the system why not change the gearing to accommodate the swap. to be fair I didn't see the previous video if there was one for this build so maybe I'm missing something. That's cool though enjoy the hobby your way man.

Kinda proves a point I often make to people when they tell me electric's got more power and all that. *It's too much power.* I've got a nitro that can hit 55MPH and my slowest nitro's good for 40MPH; that's plenty fast. They get there super fast, but they're controllable; I can just belt them wide open whenever I want and the car just *goes*. No theatrics no pizza cutters no nonsense. I don't live in fear of my throttle, I don't have to carry an entire factory's worth of spur gears and halfshafts in my bash sack, I don't have to worry about overheating anything or blowing a tire. I just add fuel, light the fires, and spend an hour hooning around laughing like an idiot.
There is such a thing as too much power, folks, and this proves it. A potent nitro mill, or a 2s in 1/10 and 4s in 1/8 is plenty of power.

@@TomleyRC I get a lot of people trying to argue for me to electrify my RCs with the 'more power' argument when it'd just make everything harder to control for little benefit.
By the by, HPI made a nitro version of this car and I'm of a mind to track one down for my own stash. I once built a nitro rally car out of an old AE NTC3 and had so much fun with it I wore it plumb out; be nice to have another rally car in the stash. And their engines are pretty good, too...
I'm not a Nitro fan, but my buddy has an old HPI 1/10 Touring car, that things a rocket! 2 speed and it's so fast!
@@TomleyRC I genuinely think you'd have a far better time trying nitro if you yeeted that POS 4-tec into the bin and tracked down a nitro WR8. You already have and love the electric one so you know the nitro one will be a hoot, and HPI engines are pretty reliable, easy to work with.
Hey what’s up man, that’s sick! I just bought a wr8 that has a mini mamba x 6s esc and 2400kv motor max 75k rpm. What gearing are you running?? I want slightly higher then yours and a set of gears close to your gearing. Yours is torquey and fast.

Yeah its a bit of a trade off ..you need to get it balanced at high speed an get some bigger tyres ..theres guys getting double the mph on 6s but depends on the motor..you need a good quality metal fin motor

You need a bigger pinion and smaller spur. That setup will then do over 90mph with foam tyres

Ya seems like it comes down axle to length limits in all scales that they lose the handling cause by weight to light axle to axle length TIRERs big one and dont forget rim can loose its strength cause by many factors heat vibration plastic its made from. Scale size means limiting do the scale math to see the speed. In scale would be very crazy great vids
I wish they still sold that car. I think HPI could be one of the top company's out there if better marketing or owner. I really don't know. But they have great cars that they discontinued, Many parts for other cars that they don't make. The biggest one is bodies. When the RS4 NITRO and SUPER NITRO were out they had so many beautiful bodies out like the Porsche 911, Viper, Corvette To name a few. Even the Micro RS4 had great bodies. They never sold the HPI Venture body clear. I just wish somebody would take over and start making everything again!! Sorry for the bla bla bla. Just think HPI is good company that could make a lot more money.
