I’m really not trying to be a smartass; Why are we installing Windows Server on a Windows platform❓Or am I missing something❓ I’m just trying to figure out what would necessitate such a platform...just because we can❓Also, doesn’t Server 20XX require 4Gb baseline❓
He's making a lab with virtul box. You won't install server iso on your main computer, that's why you do it on the vm instead.
Great video! Make sure to install the (Graphical Interface) option or you will only have the command promt.
I already finished installing and I only have command prompt. What do I do to rectify it?

this is not running the iso image for me. I can do this in vm ware. Everything looks like it should be configured but this stuff seems off in virtual box.

My virtual box 6.1 does not have the other options for windows os. It only has windows 10 (32-bit). The other OS like windows server 2012 etc are not there. Help please.
Im running into a issue. I download the ISO and it some how makes a random hard drive. Then when i go to the virtual machine and select the file and run the VM it says that there is an issue. Does the happen because I'm my laptop is using a SSD?
Will learning Windows server 2019 help with all other Windows Server because some jobs want 2016 experience.
While I was trying to install windows server on a virtual machine on my computer, I mistakenly installed it directly becasue it wouldn't run on my Virtual machine.
Now it only runs as a server in command prompt.
Can anyone please advise on how I can remove the server of factory reset please?

Not sure what happened...I did this, but the windows site had different prompts, it didnt ask me where to save the download, and it just installed on top of win 10 and it erased win 10 pro, and I now have only win server 2019.

You should be able to. The exact way you do it depends on what server OS you run. If you're using Windows Server, you should be able to use RDP.

Real quick I should of read while I was doing the intial download but I had first installed Server 2019 and chose the standard version that didn't include the desktop graphical interface. So if you have got to the point where you have downloaded Server 2019 and the only thing that pops up is the Command prompt just know you need to install the graphical interface version.

@@SuperCapello1 re-download and choose the second option. The first option omits the graphical interface.

1> I followed you step by step downloading and installing it in my Oracle VB. Everything chugged along great,,,everything loaded and went through a series of reboots.
2> When the new Server tried to load...all I get is 1 or 2 command windows with nothing...One eventually said to press CTRL - ALT - DELETE
3. Rebooted by way of Ctrl+Alt+Delete...all I get is a black screen of death, There is NO cursor and I cannot type anything
4> The CMD window does have the Text in the Blue Browser bar at the top

I cant get mine to run properly, its so slow it takes literally minutes to move the mouse after I finally get to the login. I cant seem to get it to run normal speed at all.
Did you install the virtualbox guest additions? You usually need to do this get more performance. You also have to look at your host computer. How much RAM does it have? How much RAM have you allocated to your vm? What about CPU?
Why is this saving as a disk image file on my system? Also I am just shown a command line... no GUI interface
Which option did you select when you were downloading the image? There were 3 options, ISO should have been the default.

Make sure you pick Desktop Experience one if you want the GUI.
I didn't get a graphic display for inputting pw. I was prompted by command then it got stuck.

I keep getting an error code when changing the machine folder location. It won't allow me to change it. Anyone know how to fix that or tell me why it won't allow me to change it?

@@richarddixon8365 I figured it out. You have to have VB installed on your C: drive (or your main OS drive) in order to have the machine folder on a different drive
@@chrisrogers7575 That crossed my mind but I didnt try it because I am about to start a remote customer service job and need the rest of the space to make sure I have enough for the downloads of the job. I am gonna wait until I have the software to see how much space I have left.
Probrably gonna have to do some rearranging of files. Thanks for the reply. I dont have to take my logs to the VB forums now. How did you find out by the way?
@@richarddixon8365 I honestly just tried it to see if it would work and it did. I kept installing VB on another drive and that's what gave me the error for the machine folder so I just figured try and install VB on my main drive and bingo.
So I am not getting the whole GUI thing on my end. I have installed and reinstalled and I am stuck at the adminstrator prompt in cmd. Any possible solutions. I am trying to load this on my school laptop which has windows 10 running. Can anyone assist or do I just need to go to Sever 2016?

@@Desanti69 Yep....I inadvertently installed the Sever Core version, which puts you solely in Powershell. I corrected this buy selecting the version that features the Desktop Experience, to get a GUI that I am use to. I wish he had covered this in this video, was tricky figuring this out. Now working on trying to maxims the size of the screen. Thanks for checking on me :)
