I watch your videos all the time and have learned a lot about shells and critters. Last Monday was a very low tide and my grandson found a special critter and saved it from the low tide. It does get DARK with a capital D once the sun goes down but if you have company maybe you can stay until the sun goes down next time you're down here 😃
The crown conches were stunning, especially the first one you found. Great shark eye toward the end of the video. Thanks for taking us with you for a nice evening walk on the beach.
Thank you so much for a wonderful evening search for shells.! What a beautiful evening you have. Just seeing all those shells 🐚 .! My husband would have to drag me away kicking and screaming. Lol!!!!!
I can't tell you how appreciative I am of you showing us the sunset! I have family who live in the Fort Myers and Coral gables area, and have heard lots about the sunset. Unfortunately I've only been to Florida once and didn't see it. At least now I have a better idea of it. Thank you for showing us that!
You are so very welcome! It's such a thing down here and everyone who comes down should see at least one. I'm glad I was able to capture it! It's not always cloud-free but we got lucky :)
Hello! We are heading to Florida and the sanibel area later in June and so I searched UA-cam for beach/shells videos and this is what UA-cam said to watch! What a great channel! Thank you for sharing your shell and critter knowledge and for taking us all along for the trip. We are hoping to find some great shells when we stay on Sanibel and your videos give me some hope that will happen.
The first video I make from any particular beach I give you the low down on parking and facilities. I hope my videos can help you plan and anticipate what you might experience when you get here. And maybe you'll learn a few shells along the way! Thanks so much for watching!
I bought a glass lamp and now trying to collect shells 🐚 to put in my lamp find it nice collection to show my finds ! Thank you for sharing your passion! 😃🐚🐚🐚
I was gifted two lamps with shells in them. I just said to my husband the other day I want to open the lamps and check out all the shells! I hope you do find lots of great goodies to put yours!
I'm thankful I found your channel! I look forward to your videos every Sunday night! To me, just watching as you walk along, is very relaxing and stress reducing. And your voice is very soothing too! I always can place myself, in my mind, on the beach with you! So, thanks as always, for taking us along with you! Have a great week also!
I'm thankful you found my channel too! And I am thinking about my subscribers while I'm out there so you all are really with me as I'm shelling. I hope you have a great week too! Next week we're kayaking around Lover's Key for goodies!
Another great day at the beach 🏖 the crown 👑 conchs are so pretty. I love the low tides...they all are pretty.. shells in FL are so pretty and I love the pelicans 🍱
I love those pelicans! Actually I love all the critters I encounter :) It was a particularly splendid evening. I'm feel so lucky that I live here and can share my encounters. Next week we're kayaking over to Lover's Key! Hope you have a good week!
I finally found one! I had been on the hunt for a while and just when I least expect to find one - BOOM! Thanks for coming along with me on my low tide walk!
Hi, Sharmon. Great vid, beautiful shells. Yes, watching the sunset is always fun, and you get to meet great people! My husband & I do the same out on the West Coast (CA) at Corona Del Mar (Newport Beach area in Southern CA). We have met some terrific people. We all bring our folding chairs, a bottle of wine & just sit & gaze; we see Catalina Island in the fairly near distance! And Boy, we see some incredible sunsets (like you do in FL)! Oh, oh, I've seen the "Green Flash" once, wowsers! Thanks for sharing your new found treasures. 😎 🐚
I'm so jealous you've seen the flash! I still have yet to see it. And I have a beach down the street from me that we too bring our chairs and libations to watch the sun go down when we can but still haven't seen the green flash. I guess I'll just have to keep watching sunsets!
I saw a few green flashes when I lived in Hawaii. I loved all the little critters you find - the hermit crabs are always my favourites - they're full of personality!
The sunsets down here are such a great show. Sometimes the clouds make them absolutely stunning! That albino FFC has the littlest amount of color on it but it's completely white on the inside so I'm keeping that 99% albino FFC! Thanks for watching!
I know! And he was like "Eh, don't worry about it" and I thought it was all beat up or something. I think I might have surpassed him in the "shell crazy" department - LOL!
Sunsets are right up there with shell collecting to be sure! So hoped you would have found a horse conch! Great finds although some very beat up..but! See you found the DMV sandbar!!! Have a great week! Thank you for taking us along!
There were so many crowded conchs! I cleaned them all up and they're gorgeous. I'll post a picture in the community section of my UA-cam page :) Thanks for watching!
Beautiful beach and sunset, that last shell your husband found was super nice with the dark stripes. I take pictures of sunsets all the time and have never seen the green flash lol
Everyone was telling me they have seen the green flash in Captiva - another island a little bit north of here. I'm going to have to try to see it at least once. With any luck I can catch it on video too! Thank you so much for watching!
Oh they've been really hiding from me too until this low tide evening. Hopefully you'll find one on your next trip here :) Thanks for coming along with me on my beach walk!
My sisters and I like to find a pile and dig. We typically find lots of small shells down in the piles. So much fun finding treasures. I have a timeshare at Seawatch usually around the first week of December. Love it.
Congratulations and welcome to Florida! I hope you love it here as much as I do! And I hope my videos help you figure out which beach you'd like to visit :)
The "Green Flash" does not happen right as the sun sets...but a little later. I've not seen it at sunset, but at sunrise...on the North Carolina coast. It's amazing and gone before you even know you saw it! Thank you for another lovely walk along the beach.
Interesting! I didn't know that! I've seen a sunrise or two but never the flash. Hopefully one of these days I'll see it. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
I found my very first whole sand dollar on this beach. I remember how excited we were. Coming from NJ, I never thought we'd find one and to think now I kind of find them all the time is truly incredible )
I just wanted to say thank you so much for another great video 💞😊 I loved all the beautiful shells the sunset 🌅 was amazing you made my month thank you take care see you next month 😊 I hope to get to the beach myself next month yay xx
@@SWFBeachLife thanks for getting back to me 😊 I have been busy trying to get my Garden in to shape it takes me a long time to get it done because I’m not to good on my feet I have fibromyalgia but going to the beach makes me relaxed it’s the sound of the water I could go on and on but I won’t lol take care xx
Wow! Nice haul!!!! Our negative low tide was late afternoon last week, but the winds and swells made it almost impossible to get to the beaches! Can’t wait to see what you do with your sand dollars! Thank you for taking us with you on your treasure hunt!
Wow great finds and what a beautiful sunset ! To your question yes I have seen the green flash more than once on my travels in the Caribbean ! It’s very special and something that I will cherish and remember always ! Hope you see it to soon ! Thanks for the walk about on the sea shore !
Good luck!! I hope my videos have been helpful! I mostly peruse the beach between Bowman's and Blind Pass (as I'm sure you've found out) but there's a whole lot of Sanibel to find treasures at!
Never seen the green flash either. Usually I’m making my way back to the condo before the noseums get me. I look forward to Sunday’s and going to the beach with you. Thanks for taking us along 🐚
Do you have scrub and trees close to the waters edge? I find at FMB that I'm not bothered by the noseums and I'm wondering if it's because it's so far away from foliage. I hope you have a great week - we're going kayaking next Sunday!
@@SWFBeachLife oh yes there is quite a bit of stuff leading to the path I take to get to my condo, so I usually leave the beach before it gets dark so I don’t get too bit up. Can’t wait for next weeks video! Exciting!
This is the first time in my life I live so close to the beach and it's amazing. I was in Northern NJ before we moved here and I would only get to go to the beach a few times a year. I'm making up for lost time for sure! Maybe one day you can come visit. And in the meantime I'll keep taking you to the beach with me :)
I am from Minnesota and heard people talking about watching the sun set for years, but didn’t understand the appeal. Up here it takes hours for the sun to go down. The first time my family visited the beaches on the Atlantic coast we were caught unaware of how fast the sun set and it got dark! Thankfully we were close to the place we were staying and didn’t end up stuck on the beach! 😊
Oh yes, it gets pretty dark once that sun goes down. We have zero mountains to block the view so on the beach it goes from sunset to dark pretty quickly. Always a good idea to know where you are before it gets dark - especially over here since we're not allowed to have white lights on the beach from May-Oct because of the turtles :)
Great video! Between the great shelling and beautiful sunset you have wet my appetite for some SWFL. I’m so excited! We leave tomorrow morning, early! It’s only a 2 1/2 hr drive from West Palm. We get to Sanibel, go have breakfast then head to the beach. I hope my luck and skills are as good as your. 🤣🤗🐚🐚🐚🐚
Oh good luck! I didn't find much on the beach last time I was in Sanibel, so if you're not finding them on the beach, get in the water and feel around with your feet. You'd be surprised how good those shells can hide! Have fun!
It certainly wasn't what I was expecting! Last time a storm like that came through there were treasures everywhere. Oh well, at least we didn't get too beat up by the storm!
I would have a heart attack finding a sand dollar and a FL fighting conch shell!! Soooo gorgeous! ( : Scallops are my absolute favorite! ( : You are doing great with sand dollars today!!! The Sun Ray Venus is beautiful too! ( : Love augers! ( : Ohhhhh!! I love lightning and pear whelks!! ( : I think that is definitely an Albino FL Fighting Conch! ( : The crown conch is beautiful! ( : Love the angel wing! ( : The extra long lighting whelk is gorgeous! ( : Holy moly, the big angel wing you found is amazing!! Wow! ( : I am soooo jealous!! I love sand dollars soooo much! ( : My father lives in Bradenton, right near Anna Maria Island and my daughter and dad found 60 dead sand dollars one day there! Best day ever! ( : I love the apple murex you found!! And the teeny tiny horse conch is sooo sweet! ( : The FL cone she'll us sweet! ( : The nutmeg and the crown conch are adorable! ( : Then another crown conch that was perfect! ( : Glad you took home the apple murex too! ( :
We have lived here in SW Florida a year this May now and love it! Have yet to find a whole sand dollar and Angel wing but someday. Oh yes! My husband and i have seen the green flash! Last summer and this past April on Captiva Island. Both times there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the one on Captiva was blue green, so pretty. We were there with family in vacation and they saw it too.
Everyone is saying they've seen it on Captiva. I guess that's where I'll need to go! Too bad it's a 45 minute drive - LOL! The one you saw sounds beautiful! Maybe one day I can even capture it on video - fingers crossed!
I like it when the negative low tides are early, but I was hoping I would be rewarded by going at low tide. And rewarded I was! Thanks so much for coming along with me!
I've only gotten around to completing the mirror I've been wanting to make. And of course, I made a video :) ua-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/v-deo.html Thus far that's the only one I've had time to finish but I have 2 more projects lined up!
@@SWFBeachLife Oh thats great! I had an opportunity to do a Road Scholar trip two years ago before Pandemic: Sarasota and Sanibel Island! I love it! Needless to say I found plenty of shells on the beautiful beaches and I have cleaned them and they are all in a basket waiting for me to do something with them! I know one of the instructors said she uses Armorall to clean and polish them. Have you ever heard of that?
@@carriecervantes7928 I've heard all sorts of things people do with their shells! Yes, I have heard of people putting a spray clear coat on shells to give them shine. I'm too lazy - I only keep the shells that still have their shine :)
Oh that's so cool! I wonder why it's there sometimes and others times it's not. So many people have said they've seen it from Captiva Island over here. I sure hope I get to see it too one day!
@@SWFBeachLife Your question got me thinking so I googled it and this is what I found out... It results when two optical phenomena combine : a mirage and the dispersion of sunlight...as the sun dips below the horizon the light is being dispersed thru the earth's atmosphere like a prism the mirage has to do with the refraction near the horizon... I also learned it can occur at sunrise!! I hope you see it too!
My parents would take us to Florida (or another state with a beach) every summer for two weeks. One year I was out with my dad at low tide (I think it was St Augustine) and we were floating around looking for shells. I spotted a beautiful lightening whelk and snagged it. It was perfect! It was nearly five inches long and still sits on a shelf at my mom and dad's place.
First of all, great vacation choice going to a beach for 2 weeks! And I bet finding that shell was awesome! I know when I first started collecting I picked up EVERYTHING, but finding a beautiful lightning whelk must have been awesome. What a fantastic memory and you got a souvenir too!
We're going to Lover's Key next weekend :) Just start planning for your next trip. That's the first thing I do when I get home from a getaway. Living here makes it hard to decide what I'd like to see elsewhere. There's so much here to explore! Thanks for coming along with me!
I love the beach, can't wait to relocate and see all..❤🐚🖐

I know you were rewarded after days of winds and swells :) Congrats again. Next week we're going kayaking!
Thank you for that beautiful sunset 🌅
It's my pleasure! Thanks so much for coming along with me on my walk!
The Juvenile Florida Fighting Conch at 23:50 is beautiful! Great haul this week.
Wasn't that little shell stunning? Thanks so much for watching and coming on my walk with me!
Another great video! Love the crown conchs!
There were so many! I had a fantastic time - thanks for coming along with me!
Thank you for the sunset!
My pleasure! Thank YOU for watching!
I totally enjoy your format and learning about all the shells. Thank you sharing. Can't wait for my trip which is soon. :)
I did see the green flash when I was in Hawaii in 2005. Amazing
I hope you have a great time while you are here!
Wow great finds and what a beautiful sunset ! To your question yes I have seen the green flash more than once on my travels in the Caribbean ! It’s very special and something that I will cherish and remember always ! Hope you see it to soon ! Thanks for the walk about on the sea shore !
I hope I do get to see that green flash one day. People have said they have seen it down here so I'm sure going to try!
I'm so excited! I leave on Saturday to go to Sanibel and have been watching your videos to figure out where to go. :)
Good luck!! I hope my videos have been helpful! I mostly peruse the beach between Bowman's and Blind Pass (as I'm sure you've found out) but there's a whole lot of Sanibel to find treasures at!
You have a beautiful voice and enjoyed shelling from India.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Hi its me dua again I know, you have the great channel ,and good finding shells and absolutely good find you are such amazing 😘❤
Thank you Dua! I know you like shells and I appreciate you watching my beach walks!
@@SWFBeachLife your welcome😊
I just LOVE your videos so so much!
Thank you so much!!
That was a beautiful sunset. Love those Paul Newman Sharkeye.
It was a lovely evening and I am happy to share it with you! Thank you for watching!
Exciting!
I'm so glad I found your channel! Happy New Year! 🎉🐚
Happy new year!
I love looking at the shells you have found. I wish I lived near a shell beach because I would be out there every day.
Have fun!
I love those olives , they are my faves
Those pointy, glossy shells are one of my favorites too!
Those spotted crab shells are beautiful
They are! They're called calico box crabs. They're gorgeous!
Love the augers!
Beautiful shells! Thank you!
It certainly wasn't what I was expecting! Last time a storm like that came through there were treasures everywhere. Oh well, at least we didn't get too beat up by the storm!
Thank you for my morning stroll.
Any time!
If you watch the sunset you'll see a green color above all the beautiful sunset color.
It turns out to be an amazing haul! Can't wait 'till next week!
I know! I was a bit worried but it worked out okay :) We're going on a kayak next week!
You had eyes for the eyes on this outing! 😍
Finally! It had been a while since I'd found so many :) Thanks so much for coming along with me!

Yes, I have seen the Green flash but only once.
I've never seen it but I'm hoping one of these days! Thank you so much for watching!
Yes! Saw green flash at sunset aboard QE2 in 2005. Amazing!
WOW! That must have been amazing! I'm jealous!
So envious! I’ve not been able to catch a negative low tide in my beach trips. Awesome shells and critters.
I like it when the negative low tides are early, but I was hoping I would be rewarded by going at low tide. And rewarded I was! Thanks so much for coming along with me!
I’ve seen the green flash. I was 14 years old and had just arrived in Hawaii to stay with my uncle and his family It was absolutely amazing
You're so lucky!!! I am hoping one of these days I'll get to see it!
Love this video! Hope I can find at least 1 sand dollar when we visit in August!!! The shells you find are beautiful and so was the sunset !!! 😊🦀🐚🏝
I hope you find a sand dollar too! It's one of those things. Sometimes you'll find 5 and other times zero. Fingers crossed for you!!
Beautiful sunset. I hope one day I will be able to get down to fort Myers again
I hope so too! Thanks so much for coming along with me on my walk!
@@SWFBeachLife I enjoy your videos. I have most of the shells you find. I couldn’t believe it
@@debblair5761 And now you know their names too!
@@SWFBeachLife yeah I do. The odd thing about finding your channel was talking about being down there with our friend. And going down again
@@debblair5761 Well I'm glad you found it!
Thank you for sharing; I would love to see some of your crafts that you do with shells; maybe a video on that?
I've only gotten around to completing the mirror I've been wanting to make. And of course, I made a video :)
ua-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/v-deo.html
Thus far that's the only one I've had time to finish but I have 2 more projects lined up!
No worries sweetie, you'll get your bucket list Wentletrap and I'll be watching you do it!
I live in Oregon on the coast and I did get to see the green flash once! It was amazing!!
Oh that's so cool! I wonder why it's there sometimes and others times it's not. So many people have said they've seen it from Captiva Island over here. I sure hope I get to see it too one day!
@@SWFBeachLife
Your question got me thinking so I googled it and this is what I found out...
The shark eyes 👀 are jackpot! ❤️. I found a few last month In lover’s key. I missed SWF already! I’ll be back!
We're going to Lover's Key next weekend :) Just start planning for your next trip. That's the first thing I do when I get home from a getaway. Living here makes it hard to decide what I'd like to see elsewhere. There's so much here to explore! Thanks for coming along with me!
