    I always love the critters you find and show us! It takes me back to fond memories of childhood trips to the beach and how my brother and I would get so excited about finding live ocean critters on the beach. Often times we would put them in a container and take them back to the motel room to watch them for a while. Don’t worry! We always returned them to the ocean!

      I don't blame you! I've considered bringing a bucket or something myself so I can watch them safely for a little while. But the shells call me, so I just say hi and keep on the move. I'm going on a neat excursion tomorrow to look for critters. I hope to get to see a sea horse! I'll be sure to share my adventure.

    I’m super jealous of all the different varieties you find! I’m on the Atlantic side and pretty much only find cockles. The rare occasions I find something else, it’s always broken. I’ll have to come over to the gulf side soon! I’ll be in shell heaven for sure!

    I just got back from SW Florida 2 weeks ago. Went to Marco Island and Tigertail beach, then went up to Siesta Key. I've been watching and learning a lot from your channel. Thank you for sharing. You make me want to turn around and come right back down there. I love the beach and all the treasures that await. My favorite time was getting up early and biking to the beach at Marco to see what the low tide had left behind. Most peaceful time of the day. Have a blessed time...

      First, you are so very welcome. I love sharing all the things I'm discovering and learning about the beach and beach life. And I love biking! The first time I took a bike ride on Fort Myers Beach I was in heaven. I'm really looking forward to the slower pace of summer. We get a lot less visitors down here in the summer, so lots of times I'll have the beach to myself. Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walks!

    I know what you mean about a crowded beach. I just want to walk along the shore and look at the view or sand to see what shells are there during a quiet time of day. Love going while school is in because that’s when it’s quiet but then sometimes I want to sit and look at the ships when at my favourite beach and love hearing kids laughing and playing.
    Being there during the sunrise is pretty awesome. Florida has such beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The Leopard Crab shell was so cool with those designs!! Very classy looking. The Sea Urchins that you picked up were so different with the length of their spikes and the one with the longer spikes had a thinner body than the short spiked fatter cousin. So beautiful!!
    Thank you for a beautiful, beautiful walk on the beach!! I really enjoyed it!! Have a great week!!☀️☀️😊🐬

      @@SWFBeachLife super cool to get your reply.. in New Zealand our shells are not nearly as prolific nor as varied as what your Florida coast is offering up.. when I go to the beach with a companion I always say I'll find something special for you and you do the same in return and it becomes a real treasure hunt.. we always manage to find something amazing.. one time a friend called out to me from 100m down the beach saying that they found me my beach gift and I raced over to a very small tidal pool with a foot long rock and there staring up at us trying to hide which was of course not possible was a gorgeous octopus.. we got to really have a study of it as the tide was way out and it had nowhere to go...just loved that day.. so memorable. The way youre filming and narrating your explorations is really so well done..feels like I'm there and its great when you take time to pan around the beach and the sea waters cos that head down tail up thing really becomes the main event and you can miss out on the beauty of the your surroundings.. beautiful vibes.. great work..🚣‍♀️

    Wow!! I just can't get over seeing the over abundance of shells at the places you visit!!! I don't recall there being that many when I lived near the Maine Coadt!! But, I realize its semi tropical down your way...! Cool shot of that live Box Crab! What do you do with your cache??? I think those box crab shells would make wicked awesome focal pieces for necklace or maybe bracelet if the right size!
    While you are panning around, I'm SURE you should be hearing us say OOOOOoo! PICK * THAT* ONE UP!! WAIT!!! WHATS THAT ONE!!!????? HURRY UP!! BEFORE YOU MISS IT!! LOL!! Beautiful haul in this episode! I want all the ones you don't notice, or pick up haha!! I live in Iowa past 30 yrs... I sure MISS Beach combing and beach glass hunting! I've never seen those egg nurseries before! I would have never guessed!! Thank You for sharing!!! Have an Awesome Week!!! Nose to the sand and gentle waves...! Oh! The Mermaid!! What a Delight!! And another Big THANJS for removing and recycling OPGs!! ( OtherPeoplesGarbage) smh...some people are so careless huh?.. Best Regards, Mindi =)

      It sounds like you love the beach as much as I do! And at this point I will have to admit - I am totally spoiled with shells so I am much pickier than I used to be. And I WISH I had time to make things with the goodies I find but time is a luxury I just don't have these days. I did manage to start a video about a sea shell frame and I hope to share that soon. And not too long ago I shared my shell collection to answer that question, what do you do with your shells? ua-cam.com/video/Afy0jl0smpE/v-deo.html

      @@SWFBeachLife Awesome!! Yes, being too busy can be challenging... I'm retired, too much time on my hands, and not at all close to being near an ocean like I hoped to be more often darn it! Stuck in Dry Dock in the middle of the country!!
      The closest to that " feel" of seashore realm would Be Duluth on Lake Superior, or maybe The Dunes lake shore in Indiana.. Both areas are at least 10 hrs by car..
      Well? Besides just displaying in jars or baskets..hang on walls, or put on book shelves.. I occasionally draw or make watercolor art..but its been a while. See I have too many hobbies that keep me relatively busy. Love them all, but get easily distracted for sure!
      Sometimes I can use small shells in jewelry making.. Maybe in my Dreamcatcher crafting next time...
      So, I binge watch cool channels like yours and other hobbiests/crafters etc. And other special interests..
      Happy Scooping! Ought to fashion yourself a tool to make it easier to pick your goodies up? I also noticed a shadow close by? I hope you don't go alone to some of these places! Be Safe out there. Thanks for sharing and your reply!! See you again! =) Mindi

    Hello! Thank you again for a lovely beach walk! My favorite of your trip this time are the crab carapaces?. Those crab shells are way cool and I was thrilled with how many you found! I hope to find one of those. I think in Ocean Grove NJ I found some crab shells like that and they were very fragile. Are the ones you found very fragile as well? Wow so pretty though. I love the rose petal tellins too. Thanks so much again.

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 роки тому +1

      I went to Ocean Grove once! What a cute little town. The crab carapace's aren't that fragile when you find them on the beach, but the ones I held onto have faded a bit and I suspect they're a bit more fragile than when I found them. Next time I'm going to try to "seal" them to see if I can keep the color!

    Went to Sanibel 2 weeks ago. Wasn't crowded but not as much shells. I found 1 olive, 1 shark eye, a few atlantic cockles that were not broken. My nephew was there in January and found a lot. I told him Florida called and they want their shells back. Being handicapped we learned that we could park at ANY of the lots which was nice. If the hermit crab uses other shells for their homes and you find a HC in a BIG shell that you need for your collection, can you find an equally nice shell and see if the HC would like to trade? js.....

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 роки тому

      I was on Sanibel about 2 weeks ago too - less shells than I was hoping for, but it was still a great day to be out and about. I don't think you can convince a hermit crab to move before they're ready. Down here there are so many shells that it's just as easy to find them empty. 🐚

    The pear whelks you found on this day reminded me of hot air balloons - something about the coloring on the shape.

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 роки тому

      The pear whelks really did have such great color! If you're on the south end of the island it's getting dicey at mid to higher tides. There has been some erosion and there are areas that are impassable at high tide. Be careful!
