I suggest looking at some of the sports games that Fox Interactive put out in the PS1, especially NBA Basketball 2000 and NHL Championship 2000. Both of them have some very impressive Fox Sports presentation for 1999, and especially for the PS1.
Qb club was only good on the 16bit consoles The franchise started to suck during the ps1 and n64 era of gaming and the gameplay was unreal because the score board was very easy run up I'm talking 60pts that be had in a 3min quarter Very unreal
When I first moved to NJ from Puerto Rico NFL Quarterback 99 was my introduction to football my dad bought a pigskin in the winter of 2000 me and my brother played on the snow tackling each other, good times.
The 98 version is what me and all my friends had for the N64 back in 6th grade. I had NFLQBC2 for the Game Boy, as well. There was a fantasy draft option in 98 where I’d always get Rob Johnson at QB because he was a Top 15 QB in the game and was dirt cheap, so you could load up on superstars elsewhere. Put hundreds of hours into that game, still remember it fondly.
I had NFL QB 98. It's what got me into playing football video games and what made me interested in learning more about football. Born in 91 I was 6 when it came out on the N64 and I was so confused but I loved playing it.
A lot of our GC games had manuals still. Maybe even some Wii games? Nothing beat flight sim manuals, still got a copy of Falcon 4.0 somewhere, it's a full on textbook

Hey, I am a huge fan of you and your channel. I am a 15 year old who started on Madden 21 just as a kid enjoying Madden as anyone would want. But I think I found you in Madden 23 and watched here and there but not to much until now. I love how honest you are in your reviews and will keep rewatching your vids multiple times. I hope for them to let us have NFL 2K again and maybe SDS could make a game with me being a huge MLB The Show fan. The opportunities are endless but with how Madden is they will never do it. I was thinking and they are kind of like the iPhone they say it will be great every year but it is the same thing every single year. I have a friend who is a total Ultimate Team supporter and I will keep sending him videos of you and show how messed up Madden is but he just thinks it over and moves on not realizing what he could be missing out on and makes fun of you for not fully going over what is wrong with Mut or whatever. Just wanted to let you know I need this change, you need the change, all Madden players need to be what CFB was or even better knowing the hardware that it runs on. Thank You on speaking the Truth and showing ea what is wrong with the game they do not give a f about.
The 98 version was the best of the series for me. The only thing I couldn’t stand in all of the games though was that it was hard to run the football unless it was raining or snowing.
SoftDrink you goated bro I swear I watch All your videos! I definitely remember QB Club 99 it was my first game on N64 it was good once the controls were down pac .. Great Video bro respect 🙏🏾
Qb Club 2002 was the first video game i ever played on our PS2 back on Christmas 2002. Fun fact, Kevin Harlan was in that game before he moved over to the 2k basketball series. So happy to see it getting some love
I had NFL Quarterback Club 96 on Sega Genesis. That's the best Football game I ever played. I still remember the code for Unlimited Speed Burst: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A,B,A,B Start 😅
I was more a game day guy and then a 2k on Dreamcast. I had no idea NFL QB Club was doing stuff like being able to replay the history of the NFL, that's crazy!!! Makes me want to buy a copy of it just to play that
It’s still remarkable how bad games have gotten. I remember being 10-13 thinking about how great games would be when I was older. I’m now 40 and very disappointed.
Having 2 good options for the N64 in 1997 was great. I recall they also released both QB Club and Madden ahead of schedule too. NFL Game Day, NFL QB Club 98, and Madden 64 were the first to feature 3D polygonal players, so I guess it was kinda a football gaming revolution that year. I also enjoyed the SNES QB Clubs also. Being able to replay great games of the past was a blast!
I remember playing NFL QB Club 2000 on the N64 ad nauseum. I loved the graphical capabilities (it looked better than Madden did back then IMO), the situation mode, and the depth of options it had, however I felt its Achilles Hell was some of the controls, especially in the passing game where you were required to push the catch button so it doesn't fall incomplete (other games like 2K and Madden didn't really have this issue)
They should bring back Quarterback Club. It would be interesting to see people play online with certain teams and there own QB selection. I think it would make a crazier esport compared to Madden.
The cool thing about the Sega versions of the game at least was if you created a QB for the challenge mode, your skills in those mini games were directly responsible for your player's attributes. I was terrible at the distance throwing challenge, but was great at the accuracy and mobility stuff, so I had a noodle armed speedster doing nothing but rollouts.
This video was a nice little walk down memory lane. I vividly remember watching the intro to QB Club 97 for Playstation with my friend when I was 12 and saying "I wish the whole game was like this!" Little did we know that NFL 2K in a few years would look even better! Unrelated, but in the ad I saw my dudes in Origami Angel. They are my current favorite band and just all around nice guys. Their new album is great (I'd recommend the track "Viral")
it's funny seeing the 97 intro FMV, graphically it looks like somewhere between PS2/PS3 (so ten years later) but the animations have that mid 90s uncanniness
Something changed with the world and our culture because game studios don’t make them like this! I remember the peak of this back in 98 as a kid. No creativity and no risk just makes everything stale for things as a whole to me!
I always loved how in QB Club 99 if you got past the line of scrimmage with the QB you basically couldn't be tackled. My friends and I always abused this.
I remember renting the QB club games and having a lot of fun with them. It's a shame something like this died off and would never come back, the challenge mode was awesome.
When I was a baby playing these games. QB club 2000 was the only football game I had on the 64 before we had gotten an Xbox. Maaaaan what I wouldn't give to have a go with that game one more time 🤣😅
Outside of Madden 06. NFL QB Club 99 is right up there with NFL Blitz and Street as my most played football games. GameDay 2000 is also a Underrated game
Old school gamer here ever since the days of the original NES, it is so sad to see how things have changed. I remember having the choice in sports games, 3 or 4 different studios would release games. Out of 4, two were pretty much terrible but you still had 2 excellent ones to choose from. Now we deal with EA giving us roster updates every year while charging full price.
Wow so never knew this cuz I played the first game boy game but looking at your footage the game that you lightly waxed a little poetic fun of quarterback Club 2 for Game Boy from the ball kickoff matching itsmoubtain peak kickoff, to the size of the players is 100% Joe Montana football for the Game Gear.... I know you matched it more to Tecmo Super Bowl but it looks like essentially the same game as the original Game Gear game which is vastly underappreciated
Nice. I never liked this series too much, but my goodness...I wish that Madden had ANY type of competition now. Exclusivity ruined many great titles. QB Club, Gameday, 2K, etc.
Funny enough. I was in middle school in North Carolina and stole QB Club '98 from Wal-Mart straight out of the display box brand new. 😁 I loved that game. QB Club '98 definitely needs to be reviewed.
These games were my go-to back in the day. Once the Gamecube version came out, it wasn't fun and was disappointing and that's when i made the switch to Madden.

98 FOR THE N64...thats the one i remember being the best
When I first moved to NJ from Puerto Rico NFL Quarterback 99 was my introduction to football my dad bought a pigskin in the winter of 2000 me and my brother played on the snow tackling each other, good times.
Sounds like you had a great family . Greetings from Buffalo New York
The 98 version is what me and all my friends had for the N64 back in 6th grade. I had NFLQBC2 for the Game Boy, as well. 4:05 I miss manuals too. The last sports game I remember that came with a manual in the box was AFL Evolution 2, released on PS4 and Xbox One in 2020
I hate that physical media is dying... they don't want us to actually own anything anymore!
A lot of our GC games had manuals still. Maybe even some Wii games? Nothing beat flight sim manuals, still got a copy of Falcon 4.0 somewhere, it's a full on textbook

Still a better intro than Madden 25
Which one?
Still better gameplay than madden 25
A video of a football player taking a dump would be better than Madden 25's intro. At least it'd be thematically fitting. Lol.

I had the Genesis version and it was a lot of fun. I used to love watching the televised QB Challenges during the off season
That 97 intro is so iconic.....I was a huge marino fan and let it play to its entirety every time I played. !!! Played the gameboy games too.
Glad you are back!!!!
Thanks! I got engaged this month so I took some time off for that. Hopefully my subs still remember me lmao

I always put Barry Sanders on the 49ers for my season mode 😂

I agree 98 was the best

Ultimate team…
Money money money money money money money money monaaaaay (dolla dolla)
ea owning nfl's rights cooks most other games, 2k's newest football game is literally just an altered version of the nba supercard game
Games cost too much to make, safe and marketable are only push. Remake and remastered of Games that they know will sell
Corporations got heavily involved
I am glad to see so many people enjoyed this series as well. I do go back to it. You are correct in it had a unique charm to it.
NFL Quaterback 2002 was an underrated game. I love the QB challenge in that.
It’s still remarkable how bad games have gotten. I remember being 10-13 thinking about how great games would be when I was older. I’m now 40 and very disappointed.
I literally said the exact same thing 💯
NFL QB Club 96 on the Super Nintendo was my jam back in the day. Would love to see a retrospective of that game.

i remember controls being weird but at least you could do practice mode
I had QB club 98 on the N64 won many a superbowl with the Carolina panthers kerry collins at QB
I had NFL QB Club 96 on the SNES. At the time I enjoyed it more than Madden 96.
11:13, same, I like options.
