  • I had a great session on my Flysurfer Mojo 6.2m Great in flight and I like the handles.
I look forward to get it out again soon to work on zig zags and maybe some more flying jibe practice. 😊
It weighs 7.4 lbs or 3.36 kg

Hi Jonathan, I'm back with more questions (sorry 🙂). Since you have ridden both Mojo and Slick, would you be able to say which is the best first Wing(beginner) out of the two? You mention how the Mojo might not be the best first Wing because of the wide wingspan, I suppose? Now the Slick comes in the SLS version, about which people are saying even awesome things. You do mention that compared to the Slick, Mojo seems to handle stronger gusts better, rides upwind better and also less fatigue in the arms. So trying to get a pick between these 2, based on all these factors.

      Hey Raghu,
I have now tryed the Slick SLS, Unit V2, Wasp V2, Slick V1 and Mojo. Many others have tryed more wings than I and more time on the water vs me. I do observe bunches of reviews though.
Overall I like my Mojo. It is efficient, great upwind and fast. I have not gotten into jumping but I heard it is good for that too. The Mojo is not designed for frestyle as the long center strut makes the hand wing track straight in the air. I feel very comfortable with my Mojo. I can be on the water with no harness for 2 hours as the handles take little hand energy to hold onto. Totally great wing. I still would not consider the Mojo as being the perfect first wing. Although if the Mojo is your first you will probably quickly learn how to use it well.
I am a big fan of the feel and pop of the Duotone Unit V2.
For the same size the Slick SLS does not have as much power or pop vs the Unit V2 but it does have great gust control. So if you frequent gusty spots the SLS is a strong choice.
I would like to try the North Mode, Strike V2 / CWC, and the new Ocean rodeo Wings.
I would say the Wasp V2 was the most beginner friendly out of all the wings I have tryed. I personally like a more performance focused hand wing so I do not have plans to purchase another Wasp at this time.
The Slick V1 is easier than some to use because of the boom. Still a good wing. The power feel is more on and off rather than gradual. So just be ready for this. I like the boom concept but I feel for me the Mojo is a "better" hand wing overall vs the Slick V1.
There are so many great hand wings and even some new highly rated 2022 wings that do not cost much. Right now Windance has some affordable wings for sale. Other shops have some preowned/ Demos too. Price and what a hand wing is best for vary greatly.
Happy Shopping & Let me know what you end up going for. 😊

Great Review, thank you. I'd been wanting to see a user review for MOJO for a while now. May I ask how much you weigh and what volume board and what size foil front wing you were riding?

      Hi Raghu,
I am 73 kg or 162 lbs. My board is the 2021 Starboard Wingboard 5'8" 88L and for my Axis foil I have the ART 1099 front wing, 82cm Aluminum 19mm wide mast, Short black fuselage and 400 progressive rear wing.
If you are heavier that I Flysurfer Makes a larger Mojo hand wing. Although I have not tryed one personally but I think there are better hand wings out there for ultra light wind flying "Strike CWC and Unit D/Lab".
I would think a 6.2m Hand would be a bit big as an all rounder but I feel so far this wing will cover most local sessions for me. The Mojo has lots of grunt and great at handleing apparent wind. "One Hand Wing / Sail Quiver" After I get proficient with flying jibes / flying tacks and if I feel the need to get flying in lighter wind I may considder a larger hand wing.
      Happy Monday! 🙂

@@jonathanreinke9392 Hi Jonathan, you seem to be riding far smaller board size and foil size than I am planning on (obviously because I will be starting out as a beginner). So for the 140L board and 2200 sq.cm front foil I'm planning to ride, I would normally think 5.2 is better. BUT, and it's a big BUT, I weight far higher than you. I am close to 95 kgs. So in spite of all the big board and front foil, I think I should still start off with a 6.2m wing. What do you think?

Raghu, I would like to be able to give you a more for sure recomendation ... Although I have only ridden three different hand wings.
What I can say from my expirence and hearing from many others is as you learn a big board, big foil and larger hand wing for learning is good. It takes some practice and muscle memory to get your pump down to get flying and a larger hand wing will give you more grunt and make it easyer to get flying. I have heard that a huge wing is not needed once you are flying but everthing has it's window. so a larger hand wing "even if it is a little bit" should keep you flying in a bit less wind.
For my gear, experience and my weight my 6.2m Mojo can get me comfirmed flying in 11 to 20 mph of wind or 9.5 to 17.4 knots. I predict this hand wing will be great with more time on the water with a wind range of 9 to 24 mph of wind or 7.8 to 20.9 knots of wind. Time will tell for me. If I owned a larger and smaller front wing this range may increase with only one hand wing!?!
So if you think you will be regularly Winging in more wind a smaller hand wing may be good. If you are Winging in a simmalar wind range the 6.2m or larger may be smart.
After about 15 sessions I prefer the better efficiency feel the Mojo has over the Wasp V2. Although my 5.0m Wasp V2 was easyer and more user friendly for learning basic flying. If you already have some time on the water you may be already ready for the higher performing Mojo or other higher performing hand wing.
      Happy Shopping! 🙂
