      It definitely makes me think about how I could be more prepared for an emergency. Extra cash, more non-perishable foods, more filtered water, full tanks of gas, solar chargers, etc. Even if I don't use them, others may need them in an emergency.

    • @NerdyPengin
      @NerdyPengin 2 місяці тому

      Preparedness should be about having knowledge three steps removed. So, for example, being able to make food from ingredients available to you instead of having the item in a boxed form, ready to cook.
      Furnace goes out, space heater and knowledge how to warm a house in other ways is beneficial. Phones/internet go down, know how to communicate with those necessary for you and entertain yourself by other methods. This gentleman went around helping others when there's no phone/internet - which is a good way to spend time if you have the means and willingness.

      That’s what I love about many churches, even though I’m not super religious. They have small communities that have large impacts.
      Recently my church asked for volunteers to help tear down and rebuild a house for a woman and her kids who had a rough life, to say the least.
      They didn’t even have usable plumbing. They would walk to a gas station to have access to running water.

    The heart of scripture is to love our neighbor as our self and we love others because He first loved us and gave himself up for us.. This is why churches are willing to bend over backwards for others in need. We've been given a given a gift we don't deserve. We want to share that with others.

    Seth, I never write comments but thought I would in case you'd see this.
    If you can, please do make weekly videos. I know you feel dirty doing it, but honestly, it's what websites like this need. There is so much negativity. You said your faith in humanity was restored, please share that. UA-cam, FB, etc need to have content where people like you, Sean, Cleetus, etc are showing how awesome everyday people are. Show off how people care about each other and take care of each other.
    You're doing great stuff Seth. If you feel dirty about the money from the videos, use it to buy more supplies or pay yourself back for supplies you've undoubtedly paid for out of your own pocket.
    People also need to see how fragile life is. People need to see what it takes to pull your life back together after something like this. But most importantly, people need to see positivity, and you are doing just that. Please show us.
    Thanks Seth.

    The proof that unity can still happen has been the best silver lining to this unprecedented devastation. It's restored my faith in our ability to overcome the noise and be decent to each other.
    Now let's get some more water flowing, please!

    One thing we learned from hurricane katrina was that the real help came from volunteers, and in particular, the churches. I spent some time there and was stunned at the size of the need and the response from people from the entire country. Some churches functioned as recovery centers for years after.
    It’s great to see this happening again here in NC. Thanks you Seth for sharing this with us.
