    I found a similar knife thing in a box of stuff that my grandpa gave me from Vietnam. The main difference is that it doesn't have a blade, it's just a really thick needle with 2 holes on the end where the Co2 come out. We tried it on a watermelon and it blew it apart, hilarious.

    This reminds me of a weapon called the Shark Dart that was developed by the Navy in the 60s to help the rescue divers deal with sharks in the recovery area when they were retrieving vehicles from the space program . It was a hollow needle like tube with two holes just below the tip . the needle tip was mounted on a spear like pole and was attached to a CO2 cartridge . When a shark was in the vicinity and deemed a threat the diver would spear the shark , puncturing its abdomen , thus releasing the gas giving the shark an abdominal embolism , causíng its stomach to be regurgitated through the mouth , covering its gills resulting in drowning . pretty quick and effective . The only down side is that you have to get pretty close to the predator to employ the weapon , but if that is going to be the situation anyway , it would be good to have this device to save your life. 👍🏻

      GY6vids You should try the cavity test again, but with a thicker block of ballistics gel, but still keep the cavity. The gel in this test was too thin which allowed for the carbon dioxide to escape from the top as shown in the video, with this escape of the gas the pressure inside dropped. So I feel that you should try another test but with a thicker block in which you store the cavity, so we can see if the gas will escape the original entrance hole of the knife or rather will the gas remain in the cavity and cause said cavity to expand. Also if you could, could you possibly get something more similar in density to blood than water, but with the same amount of water as blood so we can see if the "blood" would partially freeze once the gas was released from the cartridge? If so might I suggest cow's blood from your local butcher. I know this seems like a tall order, but if you do put in the effort you might finally answer the question of whether or not this knife does what it is advertised to do. I have had multiple experiences with sharks "unscathed instances" and I would like to know if it will protect me in such a instance that a shark gets a bit to friendly if you know what I am saying. If it ends up not working they it could be brought to the attention of the creators of the wasp knife so that they might improve it. If it does work I would think that the creators of the wasp would compensate you for proving the knife's effectiveness, and or for you allowing them to have your video available to view on their website. If you could do this you could possibly help others save their money if the knife is a bust. I promise you that if you do this you will be helping people no matter what the outcome is. Thank you for your time if you take the time to read my very long comment. Have a great day!

    It's different with something alive. A suction is created around the blade so much that the blade is kind of hard to get out. The gel does not do that. I'm betting that on living tissue the damage would be devastating. Great video! Thank you...Going to order one now!

      It should be vs sharks underwater. The water will get pushed up from inside the wound at REALLY fast speeds due to the water pressure pushing that air up. Then it will create a vacuum that causes the water to implode next to the stab which is like a reverse grenade. Which is probably gonna be more deadly than the stab or the gasblast itself.

      In Canada we have a whole list of banned knives, but for some reason this is not on it. Also it's not inherently a "weapon" under the Criminal Code because it's designed for use on non-human animals. You could therefore lawfully carry it concealed if you're going scuba diving and plan to use it for self-defence against sharks. If the police find this on you in Downtown Toronto you'd be in a lot of trouble though. It's similar to bear spray, which is sold at Canadian Tire without restrictions but can only be carried to defend against bears, not muggers.

    You also have to consider the original application is underwater. The trapped air displacing blood, organs, and other bodily fluids are trapped by surrounding water at various pressures (depending on depth). This would cause cavitation and minor implosion after explosion when the displaced fluids crash back into the area under pressure as the gas rushes to escape the body of water. Out in the open you're at surface gravity and the pressure surrounding the target is different. But it's still one hell of a knife. I love mine--thankfully I've only needed it once versus a small shark that went for my ankle in shallow water in Miami Beach. I wear its tooth to remind me to always have my Wasp when I go in the water.

    So I looked on Google and found your video on this knife. I started watching and immediately began to smile at the way you explained the process. You are a funny man and when you hit the trigger on the first pull! lmao!!! Awesome, and I'm still laughing. You my friend are great and have enjoyed this so much. Only 3.47 in and so far....... Well it's great! Thanks.

    It isn't much different from the way a firearm does damage. Bullets entire the body at obviously fast speeds and create a sort of bubble in you to an extent, displacing organs and causing trauma. They also break apart and send wound channels through the body but that's besides the point. From what I've always heard though, a whole lot of the damage a firearm does comes from this bubble it makes inside you. Also for the animal freaks out there, is a man with a knife like that for self defense much different than say a bear attacking a rattlesnake or a shark trying to eat a lionfish? Think about that for a moment, the diver isn't inhumane, it's the sharks fault for messing with them.

    Great Video Andrew. It would be great to see this thing against some ribs like you did with the RIP ammo. But my question is how easy is it to get to the trigger button on the handle in a full speed situation? It seems like it is a little hard to get too in the video.

    • @Undedproduction
      @Undedproduction 7 років тому +1

      Rajvinder Singh I've heard good things about the Shark Shield, usually in direct comparison to this knife. Usually when facing a large predator, you stand a better chance to deter rather than over power. It's similar to how hikers can use firearms to deter bear, but bear spray is often more effective at driving the bear off than a bullet is at putting the bear down. It is a lot easier to prevent an attack than it is to survive one.

    • @corruptingvirus3371
      @corruptingvirus3371 8 років тому +8

      a late reply but, the knife should come with a sheathe or something to cover the blade, and if it did stab you you'd have to press the button for it to go off, if it just went off by itself it would just blow cold air at you lol

    • @xxHunterDesuxx

      Then you shouldn't have this knife. Keep the canister on a separate part of your person, use when needed. It's not like you'd even need to use the air for a human per se, this thing is meant to keep a shark, grouper, etcetera from hurting or killing you
