I was hearing this song on the radio while I was driving my car last night. I liked it so much that the first thing that I did this morning was search this f*cking song. It was really hard because the only thing that I remembered was "fast that i can't slow down" and I knew that the song also said "california". But now Im happy. Im sure that nobody cares about my history, but I just wanted to share this with you guys on the internet.
This is one of my all time favourite songs and I've heard it a million times but this is just 100 times more beautiful. It's so beautiful it gives me chills and the same feeling I had when I heard this song for the first time.
really pisses me off when people say ' yeah they definitely sold out' . happens all the time when bands try and progress. I personally think every single album kol has done is amazing, I'd be annoyed if all 7 of their albums sounded like the first one, it'd get boring really quickly. and then people would be saying 'they sound the same on every album' . bands evolve and try new shit, and as far as I'm concerned anything Caleb sings on is liquid gold , one of the best voices I've ever heard. and yeah they've cleaned up their appearance as the album's have gone on, but it was gradual, they didn't suddenly wake up one day and change their look. whatever they look like it doesn't change the fact they make great music .
Gray Anderson think what you like man, i just think you should give the newer stuff a chance. listen through the albums a few times and then form an opinion. Don't just jump on the hype of saying 'they sold out'.
This songs sound and lyrics proves that they are not sell outs. This is close to what they sound like now. It's an awesome progression of their style we listen to know. They are truly masters of their art.
Love the Kings, can't wait to see them on Wednesday. They make great music, you either like it or you don't, I personally can't stand Use Somebody but hey, that's just my opinion. They haven't sold out, they've evolved, it's part of being a thinking human being, so just chill people and enjoy!!!
same old story Band was good before everyone else caught on. Grow up and just be happy there are people loke the Followill's to make the music a vast majority of us love. Sex on fire is not genius, but it has lead a lot of people to discover what is great about KOL. share the wealth I say
@toniopeic If they just keep doing the same as they did in their early records, you will be the first to get bored with them. See how the Beatles did it.
This song is in the movie Stuck on You....a Farley Brothers Movie. They have some of the best soundtracks to their movies...... Check it out. Something About Mary Fever Pitch Kingpin Dumb & Dumber Stuck on You
I HATE THE NEW FANS OF "kol" THEY THINK THEY KNOW A LOT ABOUT THEM. THEY'VE KNOWN THEM FOR LIKE A YEAR OR LESS. ugh I hate the radio. I hate MainStream Music
to be honest i'm just happy they are making music and good music at that, old or new they always had key things to write about and thats what i look for in a song go kings of leon britain loves u actually like kings of leon said they wouldnt be much without brittish support
He's watching it because the Kings Of Leon are cool now, so everybody's googling & youtubing them. Only thing is, people who like them since Only By The Night, don't like their other stuff. & I'll hold my hand up & say I'm probably one of them but I'm not criticizing, they're the dog's bollix
yeah really, its not like they are in the band. when their first album came out a lot of people heard them first lol. and its not like they were underground for a while, they got signed before they even had anything recorded. instant success. no time to be "undiscovered"
love these guys, will never get tired of them!! if you like this, you should check out the songs 'Ordinary Scene' or 'I Don't Care' on our youtube music channel (click on 'nelomusic1') let us know if you dig!
i don't think Red Hot Chilli Peppers making songs like Hump De Bump is selling out, they are just returning to their roots, and that is funk of course, and by the way, kings of leons, rocks, rules and rolls ..
you kidding me?! their third album (because of the times) was a musical masterpiece! KOL at their very best! i do agree with you though that the first 2 are great and the 4th one is terrible!
i disagree, since the kings first album only realy got it big and surfaced in 2003 so for the last 7 years? deffo not, and i dont think anyone is tryin to sound like them. to be honest. i love em tho

@bozo47p It's strange that you would complain about Kings Of Leon on this song, which is from the first album, back when Kings Of Leon were mostly an unknown band. I know that Only By The Night is mediocre and Come Around Sundown is bad, but the first 3 albums are good and that's why we like them, they aren't masterpieces of modern music with puzzling lyrics, but it's good music, and sometimes that's enough. And by the way, Jane's Addiction ? Stone Temple Pilots ? Really ?
I saw Anthony Caleb Followill I Am at Burbank Airport in the security line - with one of the other team members. They were heading back from Vegas. I think it would be cool though if we could get their story behind this video at Pocodot - Connect the Dots (pocodot dot com) - that would be awesome. Want to know who there are as regular citizens as well. I hear Pocodot is the true Facebook killer.
Zesty, props to the spirit of your post, but don't miss out on the great programming to be found down the left side of the dial, on the college and independent stations, and nowadays all over the internet. You no longer need to be near a major market to discover great new and old music constantly. Even engines like Pandora can help clue you in to great stuff and whole new directions of exploration. Good luck and never stop listening to "new" stuff!!!
@MrDidzz Funny thing about that is the first song I hear was Closer on the ONly by the Night album. Just hearing those highly commercial songs introduced me to OLD KOL. I don't think there's anything wrong with somebody liking only what's on the Tele.. It introduces people to what's actually out there by these guys. - Only by the Night is more arena rock than anything, which is just what they were seeking. They're evolving their style but with that hint of the old. Nothing wrong with it.
Kings of Leon are avery cool band! What is troubling to me right now is that, several postings i see of fans that say they have been fans of KOL for years. All i read is that they have sold out and were much better in there first 3 albums. All I can say is i bet that the ones saying it have changed over the time in which they have listened to KOL too. The band is growing and still sounding damn good...change with them not against them! Think about it!
of course bands change their styles over time. i'm not debating that, just bemoaning the fact that these lads have changed their appearence and song style to appeal more to teenage girls. is it so hard for people to understand that without being so defensive? everybody has different views on music, its a form of art and there really isn't one right or wrong point of view. I'm as entitled to my opinion as anyone. I don't hate them just wish they'd gone in a different direction. capiche?
kings were huge in europe with their first 3 albums. the only reason they became popular here in the states is because they dumbed down their music for extremely dumbed down american music stations. most people in this country have shitty tastes in music. FACT: kings first three albums are much better from a musical standpoint. obtn just appeals to the same people that like hearing lil wayne, nickleback, and lady gaga on the radio.
This is a good point. They were popular in Britain from the very beginning, does that make their first album a sell out into popular culture and only trying to make money? No, they had no idea that they would become so popular in Britain, just like they had no idea Only By The Night would bring them so much success in America. And for those who say cutting their hair is selling out, Caleb hasn't had long ass hair since 2007, Jared hasn't since forever, Matt's always changing. So, STFU
I don't see the argument that the image is directed. What label would think to say let's dress some guys up like they're from the 70's, I'm sure that will go over well. It makes sense looking at their background, they were poor before they started the band, their clothes are from thrift stores, they grew beards because their label originally wanted them to have a backing band and play on the pretty southern boy image. They shaved the beards because people started caring only because of that.
That's your opinion but personally I preferred them at this time. I've seen them live in 2005 and 2007. The 1st time they just came on and played, no fancy show or anything, the 2nd time it was more of a show which kinda distracted you away from what actually got them to where they are today. I just prefer the scruffy hair cuts and clothes, it just felt more raw, but thats just my opinion!! Still love them and wouldn't hesitate going to see them again!
Now you're being silly. That's to different types of music. This is old fashioned rock and roll. I'm also a Slayer/ Pantera fan, back when Slayer was still innovative and good. Back when Dimebag was still alive and Phil still had a mohawk. I'm talking late 80's early 90's in high school. Open your mind and expand your taste in music. Believe me, you'll find that you'll enjoy your favorite music that much more.
@unforgettablefirefan So true, man. I left a live version of "Fans" from a concert in Reading, UK on friend's facebook wall today. I love classic KOL. Their music enhances any atmosphere. There is nothing quite like being out at your cabin in Lake of the Woods, Ontario with some KOL on, sippin' on some drinks with your girl and some friends at your side.
@funkyfacewash Maaaaaan, first off, wrong "there". Learn about them... THERE is more than one of them. They all have different meanings. As for the band, THEY"RE a super tlaneted band. They fringgin' rock. THEIR look changes so frequently, I love it. They utterly spew talent from the seems. Truly an incredible rock band of our era.
I don't get all these comments, yeah I don't like their new stuff very much, yeah they sold out a little bit as far as reaching out to the masses is concerned, but in the end they made two incredible records Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak that I'm probably going to be listening to for the rest of my life, so really, who gives a shit
@bozo47p Then? Why are you watching the video, dude? Why are you wasting your time on something you dont even like? Everyone is different. Thats why are different genres of music rap, rock, country, classical, ect. Why are you wasting your time giving your opinion to people who don't care about it? Or you enjoy arguing about opinions? Cause thats all it is. An opinion
when sex on fire came out is when i found kol and this was the song that drew me in not use somebody or sex on fire obviously they were great songs but what can beat this, mollys chamber, my party, red morning light, on call, four kicks, taper jean girl, knocked up, charmer there is just to many to list!
Was SO SO SO hoping they would have played this last nite at the Hollywood Bowl... had a great set list though... it is true they do sound better live!!! their live version of Trani was the best song of the nite... I really never cared all that much for it before... hope they release the Bowl perfomance on a CD or dvd.
KOL haven't really changed their style of music in recent years. They got a haircut and some new clothes and all of a sudden they top the charts. I am not slagging them off cuz i do kinda like them, but it just shows the shallowness of today's society, its almost more about the looks than the music nowadays. Btw Caleb looks ridiculous in this video lol
@MrDidzz dude what the hell is your deal, just because they have some popular songs and they are popular now doesnt mean you should hate people that like those songs, music is an opinion and those songs are popular for a reason just because your taste of music is shitty nd dirty doesnt mean you should pick on the rest of us
great song, i like all KOL stuff from the first song i heard x years ago till the last one, and yes i agree they have become more mainstream but that was inevitable because there music is so good, its simple formula, good music = more fans = more money who can blame em, why play to 600 when they can fill stadiums. they still write great songs.
how would that be utterly false. musicality isn't opinion..if it were you could say that nickleback makes good music, liking nickleback regardless is opinion. im looking at things like the technicality, diversity, lyrical perspectives, creativity, etc. i like obtn, but musically, its not as good as the others.
Yeah, I hate it that bands are always called sell-outs when they become (more) succesful. As if record companies just go up to a band and say: 'Hey, here's some popularity. Do you want it or do you want to stay "cool and underground"?' Kings of Leon are a great band. It's not a choice between authenticity and popularity. You can have both.
I don't understand the idea that their sell outs, alot af bands change their look and style of music as time goes on doesn't mean they're leaving behind their old fans and its great that their getting air time doesn't mean that their now 'Mainstream' because they're still not pop and his voice is unusual and unique.
Aw man wot an awesome song!! But for me, i feel they are sell outs now....theyre whole style has changed, its such a shame...go up to anyone on the street and i will garrentee they like the kol....thats the trend tho, popularity pulls bands away from their true feelings for music and more to the money =(
@MrTheLoSeD well,i liked panic! at the disco's first album. and i like the killers first album, rather than the 2nd and 3rd. and i like avril lavigne's 1st and 2nd album rather than 3rd. personality and style changes. cant really keep the bands/artist to our tastes. they go in their own flow.
I thinkit's good they made some mainsteam songs! I wouldn't know about them if they didn't Use somebody and sex on fire are great songs. just a little overplayed... p.s I listend to beacause of the tims and ah skake heartbreak! Masterpieces!! havn't listend to there older album yet but I some will.
no. befor they began to get comercial they were something special ... but thats not the reason why i want the old kol´s back ... the old and the new albs are totaly different ... its purely a matter of taste but my opinion that their music they did befor was/is better
id like to add something. i HATED KOL after hearing use somebody once every 5 or 6 songs on the radio. i was hanging out with some friends who played "fans" and "mollys chamber" in the car and had no idea it was KoL until they told me. the old stuff is amazing!
i like obtn just fine. some songs on the cd are really good. but thats all they are...just really good songs. the old music was not only great, but it makes you FEEL. so many emotions hit me with all of the old songs and that just doesnt happen with the new stuff. but once again i like obtn just fine.
youth and young manhood and aha shake heartbreak are better albums than because of the times and whtever there newest cd is called. have any of you read interviews where they question why all there new fans even like them? do you go to a kol concert just to hear sex on fire?
LoL I realize this is an old video but whats up what their hair??Pardon my ignorance,I have just started to follow KOL and it seems they been around much longer than I thought. They all have girly cuts circa 1976 here. And ppl are conplaining about their current dos, which are infinitely better.
Emo music sucks :) Alot of Indie music is badly written really. The music is usually a couple of chords to a drum beat (Orson? But I say they're pop not indie) or bad lyrics. Kings of Leon are an example of a good Indie/rock band. Rock doesn't have to be hardcore.
If you love this song, check out the youtube video from kol19nec, entitled kings of leon documentary part 1 or part 2, there's an amazing early recording of California waiting that sounds even better than the album version. Plus it's a really super cool video of KOL in the early days
techfamily007 i understand what your on about but the 1st album was raw and good and real rock n roll i loved it but no matter how much i hear the rest of thieir stuff i just cant enjoy it as much this is my own opinion and not a statement or judgement
@TECHFAMILY007 that's sooo true what you wrote. so the claim for individuality is basically what mainstream means nowadays. and i'm so sick of it. people should get over themselves, and not take themselves soo fucking seriously.
@TECHFAMILY007 A lot of people only know of KoL and their old better material now because they made a switch to mainstream. And even though this is now considered 'mainstream' their sound will always be unique because of Caleb's voice.
This is such a good song. I even used to think that they were a Californian band. They had the look and sound of the Californian bands of the sixties, then. They won something in the Grammys finally, didn't they? PS The Killers are just copying them.
I so do not agree! They're not mainstream AT ALL. Never been, never will be. They're diffrent. Just because other people like you like them doesn't mean they're mainstream. Bands change. Have you ever seen a band who didn't change in that time?
This song is great. I'm kinda glad I heard of "Sex on Fire." Without that song, I wouldn't have looked further into the Kings of Leon and found out they live in my home state. Nor would I have found the songs "California Waiting" or "Fans"
I was hearing this song on the radio while I was driving my car last night. I liked it so much that the first thing that I did this morning was search this f*cking song. It was really hard because the only thing that I remembered was "fast that i can't slow down" and I knew that the

that's cool that theres radio stations that still play great music. I wish i could find a station that plays any Kings of leon music
What a lucky find! My favorite band.
It?
FKing brilliant ain it
This song is awesome and so is the whole CD it is off of. I think that KOL are one of the greatest bands ever.
Which is prob why they were hanging out with the Rolling Stones at age 18. Epic
I agree. 💯
I used to listen to their first two albums religiously hahaha my own singing voice is molded off Caleb’s amazing voice- plus the first EP!!!
Agreed 💯
Concuerdo
i cant believe its 2020 and i still listened to my favorite song from my favorite EP
Cuanto los amo a estos pibes . Hace como 10 años que los escucho , cada tema tiene lo suyo , fiel a su estilo.

The Strokes from the south
This is one of my all time favourite songs and I've heard it a million times but this is just 100 times more beautiful. It's so beautiful it gives me chills and the same feeling I had when I heard this song for the first time.
Cuando los veo con ese pelo, me recuerda a George Harrison ._.
*When I see with that hair reminds me of George Harrison. _.
really pisses me off when people say ' yeah they definitely sold out' . happens all the time when bands try and progress. Got to say bollox mate , used to be genius

They still are genuis, not bollox at all
Couldn't have said it better myself. Long live the best band in the universe
Yea i agree. All their albums are good except mechanical bull
I think if I could've been born with anyone's voice it would be Caleb Followill
This songs sound and lyrics proves that they are not sell outs. This is close to what they sound like now. It's an awesome progression of their style we listen to know. They are truly masters of their art.
i just discovered this band randomly the other day and i love their music! especially this song!
When a band sounds better live than on thier CD u kno they are the shit!
soooo good
You still alive brudda?
Tremendos, los descubrí hace poco, pero me encantan todos los albunes, rock americano de lo mejor
Love the Kings, can't wait to see them on Wednesday. They make great music, you either like it or you don't, I personally can't stand Use Somebody but hey, that's just my opinion. They haven't sold out, they've evolved, it's part of being a thinking human being, so just chill people and enjoy!!!
Calebs yelling in the end is just amazing. So honest.
everything these guys do is great, thats why they've got so big now. not cuase they changed their sound to be more mainstream. KOL rock!
One of my all time favorite songs.
same old story
Band was good before everyone else caught on.
Grow up and just be happy there are people loke the Followill's to make the music a vast majority of us love.
Sex on fire is not genius, but it has lead a lot of people to discover what is great about KOL.
share the wealth I say
It's the O2, you big silly :P
Yup, I got my ticket for then too. Can't wait.
i like the other version of California Waiting too. Kings of Leon are so amazing!
keep their new look, but bring back the old stuff.
:)
Kings of Leon, no one sounds like them!
@toniopeic If they just keep doing the same as they did in their early records, you will be the first to get bored with them. See how the Beatles did it.
This is good, real good. In fact, it's very good.
i love the hair im gonna get mine done like that today:)
This is actually One of their Best and most Soulfully Sublime Songs of their Illustrious Carreers and those of You that are Whining Don't Know Jack!!!
These guys are great!!! The music makes me want to go to a bar, play pool, drink beer and whiskey and get in a fight.
worth listening to, try worth living on. These guys are probably the greatest modern rock band around (if there is such thing)
13 years ago time flies.
woooaahhh.... is this the same guy who is singing "I can use somebody.. "?
I don't care about their hair! Sometimes, you need to stop watching and just listen!
This is masterpiece..... ;)
I really fell in love with this song from their first album. Thanks for posting this up b0rrol!
This, is a clean sounding band and they sound good...sounds yummy to me...
Jonathan Ross show. (UK)
Must've been when their first album came out...

I HATE THE NEW FANS OF "kol" THEY THINK THEY KNOW A LOT ABOUT THEM. THEY'VE KNOWN THEM FOR LIKE A YEAR OR LESS. ugh I hate the radio. I hate MainStream Music
i love this song, they are one of the best bands to come out of 2000's
well you can say whatever you want but this performance sounds not as good as they play this song now and Caleb's voice is completely different
De lo mejor que ha dado el rock internacional en estos ultimos 12 años!
An opinion
when sex on fire came out is when i found kol and this was the song that drew me in not use somebody or sex on fire obviously they were great songs but what can beat this, mollys chamber, my party, red morning light, on call, four kicks, taper jean girl, knocked up, charmer
there is just to many to list!
Do you want it or do you want to stay "cool and underground"?'
Kings of Leon are a great band.
But for me, i feel they are sell outs now....theyre whole style has changed, its such a shame...go up to anyone on the street and i will garrentee they like the kol....thats the trend tho, popularity pulls bands away from their true feelings for music and more to the money =(
Come on i know the EP version was great but i loved the album version more than the EP version, its more raw just like the king's raw talent.
I wouldn't know about them if they didn't
Use somebody and sex on fire are great songs. just a little overplayed...
p.s I listend to beacause of the tims and ah skake heartbreak!
Emo music sucks :)
Alot of Indie music is badly written really.
Plus it's a really super cool video of KOL in the early days
techfamily007 i understand what your on about but the 1st album was raw and good and real rock n roll
i loved it but no matter how much i hear the rest of thieir stuff i just cant enjoy it as much
this is my own opinion and not a statement or judgement
