This mast seems to be gone from Chameleon's website. Trying to find a sturdy fiberglass mast of any length with a 1" outer diameter for the top section is darn near impossible. Any inside information on if it will be back and when?
I am a BIG Chameleon fan. I use this antenna to work the Texas District 6& 13 Ares nets. The footprint is very managable and has good resonance on 40 and 80 where the best NVIS propagation exists. It is as good as a 130' /65' NVIS dipole like the DXE 80-40 ( WHICH I ALSO LIKE).
Really appreciate that feedback. Since I can't have this up at my QTH in the HOA, and my set up this day was temporary, its great to get confirmation from someone using this on a regular basis. Very helpful!
Thanks for sharing! Thanks for getting back to me on the F-loop remote tuning setup of yours. I live on a farm where the only HOA I have to deal with is Housewife On-my A**. All joking aside she’s a pretty good egg and puts up with a lot of my antics. I love everything about Chameleon but the price. I am on their mailing list and see their sales emails. Yes you get what you pay for. I’ll have to go through your videos and see what other Chameleon products you have reviewed.
I bought this a while back, I need to test the 80M wires as it stopped tuning on 80M after the first few uses. It is fun to setup alone, but I am using a painters pole and not the fancy mast.
@@HOAHamRadioHi Bob, I like my CHA 12’ FG mast. I wonder if chameleon could come up with the ability to add 2 more sections to the base to make the base be 3” in diameter so you can still use the ports mounts. I sure would like to get the mast up to 15’. Bill
Thanks for the review of this antenna. I have lots of CHA products already and thinking about this one, so its good to see it in use. Looks like it tunes well on all the bands typically used for NVIS. Wish we could have seen some QSO's and gotten some distances logged. What would the performance difference be between the 5:1 and the 9:1 in the new batch?
Did get two QSO's in and they are on the video. I too wish I had more time to do long term testing...but that HOA and small lot I live on just won't cooperate....
HOA is not good so what about having it in the roofspace and using reasonably think copper to connect to the hot end of the UNUN to a tree at the other end via an insulator and the ground connection to the copper water pipe.

Great video! As mentioned below, NVIS is normally used only on 40 meters and lower frequencies. Robert K5TPC
Thanks for the view and feedback.

I've been fortunate to review several, with more planned. Yep, my wife puts up with plenty....especially my being a UA-camr.
Very nice review video!!!
Love all the videos!
Thanks; appreciate the kind words.

That FG mast is "fancy" - built like a tank! I do want to set this up alone some time just to see if it is easier or more difficult that way.

No real differences between the two. The 9:1 can handle more power.

My pleasure as always; was fun to work with a "new to me" type of antenna.
Very useful this review ... many thanks for sharing
Appreciate the view and comment; glad you found it helpful.
Do you know what the balun is? 4:1?
It's currently a 5:1 but will be a 9:1 for our next batch!
@@Chameleon_Antenna I'm very happy with my MPAS lite. trying to decide which way to expand with your system. thinking about adding TDL to this kit.
@@slappomatthew The TDL would be the logic way!
Nice Kit
It is indeed; it was fun experimenting with a "new to me" set up.
I wonder if we couldn’t do the same thing with a Hybrid Mini/Micro…
Yes you can!
Hmmmmm.... I'm sensing the need for a future test and demonstration!

The NVIS properties of this antenna call for the specific set up as described in the manual, and demonstrated.
ah... sloped...
not quite nvis.
