Great stuff, and a testament to how much great music three cats at this level can make. As someone who grew up in the 70's/early 80's this sound brings back lots of memories, and glad to hear Bill taking it in new directions. Thank you, gents!
A virtuoso for certain; but how nice if within this series of videos there was one phrase (or even 'pitch') that wasn't a cliche we've heard a million times...
They always record it with too much of something…… here to much distortion or compression. Just a simple way of the classic sound of this thing would do it They play great !
Sorry. This instrument simply does not sound like a Rhodes piano. Is it me? The last few exit bars were close...must have switched off all these OTT electronic FX...Give me a MkV, or a decent Mk1 or Mkll, plus a smidge of reverb/compression.....that is ALL that is required, IMHO. i think its Bills intention to experiment with some of the many different possibilities of sound with the instrument in this series, which are to his taste and also only possible with a Rhodes Mk8, which also of course produces the warm and smooth tones that i think you are talking about - see some of the other videos on the Rhodes channel for many examples.
Hello Doug. As said above, this is the aesthetic that Bill wanted for his music and we love it . The beauty of the MK8 is that it IS a Rhodes through and through but by adding all the effects and other onboard sound shapers, the MK8 allows the player to take the classic Rhodes sound and spin it in pretty much any direction. That’s what I/we at Rhodes wanted for the piano and artists are responding extremely positively. As Herbie Hancock said when he tried the MK8, he loved all the possibilities. And with that, my advice would be to try a MK8 and see for yourself. It can do the raw tone of any vintage Rhodes but it’s the possibilities that truly take the piano to a whole new level.
What a way to show off this instrument! Amazing. ❤
This whole series has been excellent.
…no doubt!!!
Glad to hear you've enjoyed the series!

This. Persona 5 Royal called and wants its soundtrack back 😄
Pretty convincing argument for your wares
While it is super playing and obviously for the wonderful rhodes sound , it would have been nice to hear the bass.
If I was a multi millionaire with money to spunk I’d love to buy one 😢
