This video demo is by far the best demo of a musical instrument that I have ever seen. For one thing - excellent musicians playing live music that grooves is SO MUCH more enjoyable than hearing the sad sequenced tracks on demos of digital based instruments. Secondly, most demos I’ve seen do one of two things - try to dazzle us with out-of-this world effects, or else show the painstaking efforts used to faithfully emulate some piece of vintage gear. Here, Dan Goldman shows off both the classic Rhodes sounds we all know, as well as the amazing possibilities of the built-in effects. Third, he’s changing the sound on the fly using dedicated controls, and not squinting at a tiny LCD screen or jabbing buttons hoping to call up the right preset. And most important of all - it’s a freakin’ genuine Rhodes piano - almost certainly the best generation yet - and it just doesn’t get better than that!
Thank you for the incredible comment. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed making it. More coming soon...
Bravo! 👏👏👏👍
Amen to that!!!!
exactly this
Please tell me you guys plan to be around for more than 5 minutes... Lol
I want one!
🔥🔥🔥
PS shout out to drums n bass too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
The musicianship on display here is insane.
I always loved the Rhodes for its classic sound it is known for. Now I watch this video and realize with this new MK8 Series it can so much more. Love this complexity and depth in sounds. The band is outstanding by the way...
of course the Rhodes is the featured instrument here, but i know i'm not the only one who was waiting for a front-shot of that awesome 5 string JazzBass
Im sure we can arrange that! Its Alex's own custom build.
@@goldphinga i love it. this was a great session all around. everyone played their ass off
my head has been hunted. bravo.
A great Herbie- licious jam. He knows how to bring the inner funk out of the Rhodes
the best rhodes instrument and playing! ✨
This is a MONSTER
This demo just made the FX module a 100% must have
What a journey, it was worth the wait. I have a dream.
That was superb. Thank you gentlemen.
The Rhodes rides again. 🎵👍👏👏
Huge shout out to The Reverend Beanz, Alex Miller, doing what only he can do on the bass. This is going on one of my regular listening playlists
Um, wow. Just wow. I can’t even imagine how cool it is to be able play with that amount of skill and passion on an instrument you created with that amount of skill and passion. Any Rhodes fans watching this and following your incredible journey are lucky to be alive at this point in time. Incredible ❤
This is like watching Enzo Ferrari taking his race car for a ride. More chops like this, please ❤
I came for the love of the Rhodes… but left with my ever reinforced love for the bass guitar…. Oh damn that groove!!!
I just bought the V8 Pro VSTi and although my skills are not up to the level as Dan's this video gives a great snapshot of what this amazing piano can do. Thank you. 🙏
Can't beat the sound of an original, THE Quintessential Electric Piano 👌🏿
Tight band, great demo.
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
amazing......
Something to have in your studio!!!🔥🔥🔥
Wow, so on point, super nice showcase and insane bass player. Wow what a groove the drummer and bass player create, aswell the keyboard player to say atleast
Wow. I haven’t heard music like that in a long time. Absolutely amazing.
Long time not see alex da third..
Now grow up become great musician..
God bless
That snare sounds great!!!
Didn’t you kind of missed the point. It’s about the Rhodes… haha
It’s always one in the bunch…
Didn't know Rhodes has such varitaions of great sounds. Great instrument&musicians! Thanks🎹
Thank you! This is the first brand new Rhodes (the MK8FX model) to feature advanced onboard analog effects (wah, drive, audio rate modulation, resonant parametric eq, panning, chorus, compressor, phaser, delay).
@@goldphinga OK, that is why! Perfect demonstration of the new model.
Looking forward to upcoming videos from you.
Thank you, very much appreciated by myself, the band and the whole Rhodes
team. @@watzup1013
Rhodes now in the "synth heaven" - Awesome sounds from the NEW RHODES... 😱Nothing can compares to it!
An awesome demo, showed a lot of the MK8s capabilities. You guys can JAM!!! I was waiting for the classic bell-like sound reminiscent of Steely Dan & the Taxi theme. Damn....I got robbed. Haha! Nice job!
ハンコックのようなソロでカッコ良い!
Fantastic!
I have searched all day a band where this Alex Miller play, and all I find is a young rich country boy... This drum/bass was INSANE !

Simply Fantastic ...the musicians the music and of course the amazing Rhodes
Crazyyyy🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is NOT a Rhodes. This is a MONSTER.
nutty mixxxx
Amazing tone/vibe and playing, Dan! That MK8 engine and the fx are KILLER. You’ve created a monster.
NOTHING sounds like a Rhodes 🧨🚀🎹
I want one SO bad!
Sound amazing!!
Dan top!
Freaking amazing ❤
Hi Dan, your Rhodes travel was incredible and filled of true passion for this instrument that everyone can feel. But I am now more than happy to have you also back as a musician, having good memory of your past playing any kind of keyboard, improvising your own songs (Ascension still my favorite) or demoing product (SV-2 with Korg UK when our paths crossed). I understand you very busy with your manufacturing activity but let's try to keep an eye on the music and continue to please us with further videos like this. All the best and cheers. Andrea@Korg Italy
Great Rhodes player! 👍
Great Bass Player!
Beautiful man ❤❤❤
I’m not a keyboard player but although the effects are cool, i could just listen to the straight Rhodes with the stereo pan all day. The chorus is sweet too!
Sensational! ❤ 😊
amazing stuff
WOW, I want one. That was awesome, wish I had that money to drop on an instrument, the hours of fun!
Awesome work by Dan and all the Rhodes team to create this wonderful instrument. Fabulous playing by everyone too!
when you could listen to something 'forever', you know it's good. This is so good! the 5:21 change was sublime.
coisa linda
This session is within the scope of what I imagine would be heard shortly after Herbie Hancock discovered an Mk8 time machined to his living room in the early 70’s.🙂
Great stuff. Wow.
Wow!
3:32 comienza la emoción Rhodes.
You guys are all so good! I’m very envious. My favorite MK8 video yet. Can’t wait for more!
Whhhoo - that is music from the home planet, right there - thanks all of you for putting the work in to bring it to us here!
bravissimi !
Bassplayer took the cake.
amazing 👏👏👏
Bomba!!❤
love it
2:51 is that a team rocket hideout theme????
❤
Great! 🥰
That delay was insane
I use the same headphones, wish I could afford the MK 8!
Those effects were designed by none other than Cyril Lance, Bob Moog's hand-picked successor. Nothing in the world quite like a Rhodes and a Moog.
Ocean's Eleven's vibes...❤
Hope you can share the recording/mixing chain!
Glad I still have my Rhodes MK-80 bought new in the 1990s. This MK-8 has more synth sounds and latest Effects, but I still have 64 of the original Rhodes tones on 88 keys.
Can you guys get this (and other demos) posted to Apple Music??? This would make my drive to work so enjoyable
All that is missing is muted trumpet and you'd have a contemporary version of Miles Davis' B@tches Brew. At least thats the vibe im getting 👍🏾Between a Snarky Puppy and B@tches Brew vibe. Excellence
hermoso
I said gowddamn! Them cats are outta the bag! When is the album coming out?!
Looks and sounds like the best Rhodes ever. Sold!
Supersubscribed.
Great instrument. I am glad Ive got mine Mark I in 80s for 300$ and have some plugins to get this sound so that I dont have to pay 11.000 now :-)
G’wan Danny boy ❤
That is pretty convenient having the Maestro Ring Modulator and the rest conveniently located and built in on the front rail. Are they digital or analog?
The effects are analogue. VCA driven phaser and compressor, bucket brigade chorus and delay. Analogue drive too and resonant filter.
Brilliant! The Rhodes sounds amazing. What was your signal path? Were you using an amp? (Lab Series L4?)
Thanks! Rhodes MK8 direct from its XLR outputs > Amek Mixer (no eq) > DAW. No amps or miking involved.
👏👏👏
I forget Dan but can you control the various effect parameters from eg foot switches / expression pedals, etc or will that come with further MIDI development? Thanks for great demo btw
Hey! Yes- you can control wah, volume, pan rate and depth, phaser rate, chorus rate, delay time and mix via the 2 expression inputs as standard. In this video I was using the pedals for delay mix and also wah. Cheers!
song similar to 70's Herbie funk
❤
Is this available on Apple Music or iTunes?
Can you program those settings on the Rhodes for recall, or do you have to dial them in each by hand in real time?
It’s all real time, much like a Minimoog. It’s very easy to quickly dial and reset things and designed to be super intuitive.
Direct to the mixer, or via the jazz chorus?
Direct to the mixer. ALL the effects you hear (ring mod, pan, chorus, delay, wah, compression), are analogue Fx built into the piano
It sounds like young HH
rich mans toy, but that doesn't mean i don't want one :)
A Rhodes is a younger man's instrument. I've owned a few (have the scars to show for it) and they're just too heavy to lug around anymore. 😢
I think perhaps this company should develop a digital version too, with a focus on being cheaper and more portable.
@@andybrice2711 Well, first off, Rhodes already makes a plug-in version of the MK 8 that sells for $300 or less and is as portable as your notebook computer. It is, IMO, the best Rhodes plug-in available, and I have about 6 or 7 Rhodes plug-ins, as well as an actual 1975 Mark I Stage 88 to compare with. So basically, they are already doing what you suggest. But if you mean that they should manufacture a hardware digital keyboard, I think there's no chance of that happening, and with good reason. Rhodes is not set up to crank out several thousand keyboards a year; that would require an additional investment of millions of dollars. And how would it be any better than the dozens of inexpensive digital keyboards that are currently available from Yamaha, Korg, etc., which all have "usable" Rhodes patches?
video and music was great but, I didn't enjoy looking at the back side of this wonderful bassist during the whole performance... He deserved more visual presence from the front.....
stop trying to make me want to buy a rhodes i'll never be able to afford it
Does not even sound like a Rhodes.
Jump to 3:32 if you want the un-effected classic Rhodes sound. The film demonstrates the huge range of sounds you can get from the MK8’s built in analogue FX as well as the classic tone.
That's only because he is showing all the different sounds off but at over £8,000 out of my price range I'll stick with my Kronos 88 hammer touch and Montage 6
Is that you matthewcreelman2736? Doesn’t sound like you.
As a classic rhodes owner who has played the mk8, it is superior to my piano in every conceivable sense.
Garbage
How is this in any way "garbage"? Please elaborate...
