Will Smith actually bonded with the dog Sam so much, that he actually asked the owner's if there was any way he could keep her, I think he offered to pay an exorbitant amount for her, and was refused outright. Lol
The dog who played Sam had an interview with her owner a few years after this movie came out. She's a great little actress dog , very laid-back in real life ❤
I was hoping you two would watch the theatrical ending afterwards. Like others have mentioned, I hope you still watch it. This was my first time seeing the alternate ending. I just read about it.
Did you know that this movie is basically a rehash of The Last Man On Earth which later became The Omega Man with Charlton Heston. You guys probably should watch that one also along with Soylent Green.
This is the first time I've actually seen the alternate ending, I had heard so many people preferred it. But now that I've seen it... I prefer the original 🤷♀️ I think the original ending is WAY more realistic.
This ending is closer to the book version where dark seekers was inteligent human beings that needed to drink blood due to the virus. They were trying to hunt him because he was killing them in their sleep. Neville was the monster. I prefer this ending as this is giving the movie more depth than ending where somebody giving his life in tear inducing scene in fight againts souless monsters.
People have commented already about the book and 70s movie but I remember I watched a couple of years ago the original movie from the 50s starring Vincent Price. It was less a zombie movie than this one, It would be very interesting to see you watch it 🤗 Great video as always guys!
Amazing - I am a fellow vegan too! Well said. I cried too and I know it is just a fictitious scene but still impacts me as much as the billions of sentient beings - individuals who never get a loving touch or see the sun until they are trucked to their death.
As I recall, the original version had the doctor lock away Anna in a safe place with the serum that works, then he uses a grenade to blow himself up & the zombies. Anna escapes safely & drives to Vermont to the survivors' camp with the life-saving serum, & the movie ends.
That was the theatrical ending the studio wanted making him the hero. This ending is closer to the book where he is the monster hiding in his fortress coming out and hunting innocents to torture and kill. A more morally complex story and far better for it. Which also plays into the title legends aren't necessarily hero's and one person's hero is anothers monster. Much like the real Dracula Vlad Tepes was a hero to Christians fighting to resist the conquest of eastern Europe by the Ottoman empire while to the Muslims he was a vicious monster who tortured butchered and desecrated their soldiers. Ironic really because he learned these terror tactics while held as a hostage by the Ottoman empire and his greatest foe was a member of his own family who converted to Islam while being held by his enemies.
The theatrical ending (which you did not see here) basically had the 3 of them retreating down to the glass lab with the female zombie showing clear signs of being cured. But the nemesis zombie could see them and was acting as though he would never relent. Then Dr. Neville revealed to Anna that there was a small ventilation tunnel at the back of the room where the boy and Anna could escape. But first Dr. Neville gave Anna a container with samples of the Cure compound. Then Dr. Neville revealed that he also had one or more Grenades in a desk there......which he ended up using after Anna and the boy were out of the tunnel to safety. The explosion presumably killed Dr. Neville and all of the zombies in that whole basement. Then the film changes shots to show Anna and the boy "by themselves" in that car driving away from New York city. And finally, it shows Anna and the boy arriving in that car at the Survivor's Colony where Anna still has the samples of the Cure that she gives to them. The film ends there, with Anna narrating a mention that Dr. Neville should now be considered a Legend.... for the work he did which produced a cure and that cure will presumably be able to end the zombie affliction on all the millions of zombies which Dr. Neville earlier mentioned exist as a statistical estimate from the survival rate of the previous world human population. Basically, the theatrical ending had more hope for the world.....and the ending you saw had more hope for Dr. Neville but not the world. Humans are strange that way..... in that most people who saw the movie like the ending you saw, rather than the theatrical one... in spite of how it only has hope for one human instead of hundreds of millions of humans. They have no emotional connection to the hundreds of millions of humans they don't see.... and they do have an emotional connection with the single human of Dr. Neville.
I prefer the theatrical ending. I like hope. Dr Neville sacrificed himself for the greater good and saved all of humanity with his serum - he shows us that that was his intent all along in finding the cure in the first place. He was cynical, yes - but he always had hope... he broadcasted for survivors every day, without fail, for a long time before we join his story. He hoped all along.
@@rumham7466 It wasn't something anybody swallows.... so basically, replicate it in culture and then you can go tag zombies like a blow dart... which they don't notice any pain from minor pokes or abrasions; so in the morning you check back in on them to see if they are responsive.
1. This is my favorite Will Smith movie. 2.The part that gave me real respect for Will Smith is the scene where he's talking to the mannequin right after having to kill his best/only friend and says, "Please say hello to me". 😭THAT'S acting. Where did he go to get that?. 😎 3. This film is mostly a remake of "The Last Man On Earth" and "The Omega Man" staring Charlton Heston. 4. The wild animals escaped from the Manhattan Zoo. 5. He was saving the bacon for Samantha. 6. There's speculation that he's the bad guy because he's the hunter now. 7. I absolutely fell in love/LUST with Alice Braga after I saw this movie. 😍😈 8. The female was the leader's squeeze. 9. I prefer the other ending, where he sacrifices himself.
No. Best for Will is Concussion. I watched and raved on it, I kept telling people how great it was, and said it looks like Will Smith but isn't. Amazed when I watched it again and saw the credits
Different ending than i saw . Think the original ending made more sense . Thanks for the reaction. The book is worth reading , different enough and has an interesting main character. .
Original ending was shallow tearjerker. This ending makes more sense. Obviously they were highly inteligent beings making mechanical traps. Also this ending is much closer to the point of the book.
based on book, "I am Legend" I remember the previous movie from the 70's with Charlton Heston but titled " The Omega Man " same basic plot but different Vibe and of course a sex hook up
If you want another movie with a different take on the zombie genre please check out Warm Bodies starring Nicholas Hoult (Beast in X Men) It’s a really good movie in my opinion, with a very different, more lighthearted feel. I think you guys would enjoy it!
Probably the best of the 4 adaptions. First time seeing the alt ending, have to say, it's not as good as the original. There was nearly an adaption by Ridley Scott starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, wish that had happened!.
He was planting mannequins. However, the last one was planted by the zombie husband to trap him. The zombie husband did the same thing to him that he did to the zombie wife. The zombies moved freely during the night. That is my interpretation.
It's funny how everyone talk about Will slapping Chris but no one talks about Chris making fun of a woman with an auto immune disease that she has for the rest of her life. If I was Will, a slap would not have been all he got. This cancel culture be canceling the wrong people.
Actually during the same evening many of us were waiting for the search warrant of Hunter's laptop to be served and its contents released. Just before the laptop contents were released to the news agencies, the fake slap happened and tied up local, national and international news outlets for several days, thus giving this administration time to flood waiting parties with erroneous information. Not really important now, but it is what it is.

In the original novel, the 'creatures' saw HIM as the 'monster'.
They were intelligent - basically evolved forms of humans.
At the end, with all the pictures on the wall, he realises that he is in fact now the monster
I was hoping you two would watch the theatrical ending afterwards. Like others have mentioned, I hope you still watch it. This was my first time seeing the alternate ending. I just read about it.
Good job watching the director's cut. That's the Canon ending and is being used for the upcoming sequel
Anna took him back to his house close to nightfall, and the zombies tracked them. That is how the zombies finally discovered his base/home.
Did you know that this movie is basically a rehash of The Last Man On Earth which later became The Omega Man with Charlton Heston. You guys probably should watch that one also along with Soylent Green.
They're _all_ adaptations of the same book, from the *best* writer of the Twilight Zone.
I'd argue the book has a better ending than all 3 films.
@@gggooding yeah I kind of got the feeling they knew it was from a book just maybe not aware of the other two movies
