[Part 2 of 2]
Continuing with our deep dive into vehicle liveries, I bring alone Wales' 6721st most popular person, GWVillager once again to go over our favourite and least favourite UK train liveries! Woooo!
As with Part 1, we kept our answers hidden until recording, so neither of us knew before hand of our choices. Hand on hearts.

My favourite train livery is the old Southeastern yellow door and grey stripe livery that was applied to 375s, 465s and 466s. I liked how on the 375 the yellow doors stopped by the top of the black by the windows and the top of the doors was white like the body of the train. And I especially liked it on the 465s and 466s where the windows on the doors went above the yellow, it was so interesting to me. I also remember the mock up 395 in this livery at Ebbsfleet.
I do however the livery on the 376 is very worn now. The yellow on the doors are starting to fade

4. EMR / Virgin XC (Specifically HSTs but all of their trains looked good with it) (Plus I couldn't decide between the two)
5. All Class 455 liveries

5. National express, fix up the logo, and it would probably be in the top 5

Best dirty livery must be cross country then as it blends the virgin red to match the maroon/burgundy livery 🤣🤣

I'm definitely in the minority opinion regarding bright, hyper-vibrant colourful liveries over understated ones but seeing this (...twice, somehow) was cool, it's eye-catching and they put it over the entire train instead of like 3 inches. Mind, I could see why it would be a bit too much on the eyes for some.
Loving the collabs!
GWVillager or Maverick Hunter Daniel, I did my research about the GNER white logo, I found that when the logo was white, the only one that was close was on with a white G and R but the N and E were still golden.
I like the NX ScotRail livery
Unpopular opinion: i like the first captial connect livery
London Midland is lovely, more top work from Ray Stenning/Best Impressions. The blandness of the Lumo livery isn't the worst part, it's that the "Travel Well, Beyond Expectations" writing is literally written in Arial, the most cheap and nasty font you could use for a brand. Everything about it screams "placeholder font"! I have a soft spot for the original ATW livery because I have fond memories of it, but "washed out" would be a perfect description - talking about the fading paint, you just had to see the state of 143614 before it was withdrawn - especially with the TfW banners making it look even more chaotic! (I like how you used a picture of 153367, unique for being the only Cotswold Stone 153 to have a turquoise stripe along the top of the unit.) I did initially like the "WAG" livery with its warm two-tone turquoise, but it ended up ageing horribly as well - at least it was colourful unlike TfW! Also, didn't you Dan have a soft spot for Chiltern Railways Mainline? LNWR looks good too. What is that Mk4 🤣I really don't know why EMR ditched their original livery, the new one just doesn't sell the operator well. Don't get me started on 390119...there are even murals in the toilets promoting "muh rainbow people dare not be criticised no matter what" rhetoric... (Speaking of Pendolino toilets, if Virgin was to run the WCML again, I'd hate to see what they do with the "talking toilet" idea given it's 2024...)
I also have to add...the worst "plain white" livery has to be the original Greater Anglia livery - not just a basic white livery with red doors, but with the original "GreaterAnglia" logo in the default Calibri font making it look like it was made in PowerPoint!
Didn’t like the 317 on NATEX cos of the lights but otherwise I agree,It’s lovely! Just not a favourite

Class 221s On Grand Central Are Better off Being Fully Painted In Grand Central Black and Orange Just Like The Class 180s and HSTs 👍
no hate for the connex liveries? damn i was really hoping to see MHD hate on the depressing yellow and white shit they had back at the start of privatisation
Under the assumption that you're referring to the one applied to the slam doors and 508, I didn't hate hit enough honestly. I prefered the one applied to the networkers, but I can at least understand the distaste for it.
I will say I am very surprised with all your criticism of bland and boring colours and designs that Transport for Wales didn't make the list of worst liveries. To me, it is undoubtably among the most aggressively lifeless, dull and uninspiring liveries ever to hit British rails, especially compared to the bold colours that came before it (you can tell I don't agree with GWVillager's rating of the older ATW livery). To me, it is actually worse than something like the plain white plus coloured doors-liveries that Greater Anglia employed. The white they used at least looked clean and bright. TfW looks like a depressing grey sky over depressing grey Welsh coal towns that have been on the decline since the 60s. The TfW Mk4 DVTs are probably the biggest offenders to me, they really took all the speed and elegance out of them.
In terms of liveries I enjoy and missed seeing here there are:
Southern - I think it uses really pleasant colours and combines them really well.
Grand Central (with orange stripe, the original plain black was also really dull) - A quite bold livery that really suited the buffer HSTs and still suits the 180s well, though I don't think it can save the Voyager's awkward front styling.
CrossCountry - Specifically applied to the HSTs, I think XC is really nice with the maroon segments on the power cars, though the intermediate coaches are a bit boring.
Caledonian Sleeper - A gorgeous classy dark teal on beautiful modern Mk5s? Sign me up! I think it's a very well-designed livery overall.
And then for a livery that is perhaps not among the prettiest but still deserves some attention, there is Virgin East Coast: Despite its somewhat whacky layout I really quite like it. I immediately started calling it "Virgin Trains Coca Cola" after it came out, because of the white swirl on red, but I think it is a pretty cool design. The oddest choice for me was the blue stripe to represent first class, though I'm not sure what would've been a better alternative. The livery also gives a great sensation of speed with passing trains because of the red carriage ends.

5. Avanti West Coast 805 Livery, It has mismatches by the door, I reckon they should just put the green & orange round the front & end the rest should be white & grey, also its over exaggerated, especially on the 390, it should just be on the ends

london midland livery was amazing, especially on the 350s and 321s. im sad that SWT didnt make the list but everyone knows its better than the crap we have today.

Also the [livery]-(GAY) versions as a gae myself :3 it does remove monotony especially in an era of (white trunk + carriage ends painted/doors painted) , also the black is to stand for the ones who died during the Aids crisis , i get why but it is a few out of a fleet so its not that often seen anyways
I know even less plane liveries myself, so probably not.
I know nothing at all about plane liveries, either. BOAC looked good, though.

I guess they didn't go to the same school as me then lol. Skivitis is a fictional illness meaning a lack of desire to come into school or in this case, work.
@@MaverickHunterDaniel In my school they called it "mitching" - especially the yobs that surrounded me in year 10/11 geography, they would often grind the lessons to a halt because the banter was off the scale! Someone in my class even wrote in the yearbook "don't take GCSE geography!"

Funny you should mention the WM concept livery. That made the first version of my list, but then it got bumped out to being 6th place due to me remembering about the others and thus, it had to be displaced. But it's certainly a pitiful livery.

I much prefer the temporary ones worn by the 323 and for their time, the 170s, the gold and grey (or is it white) just looked much more appealing 😅

I once caught the original WMR livery 172. I had no idea it existed and it was certainly surprising!

I only put flowing silk at 5 because it's not bad, just boring compared to the older VT livery, and only for the 390, because 221101 has a better rendition of it! :P
I like the NX SR livery, as well as most the ones people seem to dislike tbh (except the pride liveries I hate that shit). Also correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t grey/white the only universal paint scheme for NX? As this was before that
